Thank for the comments guy's Lexus battery now fitted 🙂 So I took my car out to Lexus at Fort Dunlop today to have my tired 12v battery changed, it could have probably lasted longer as the tech said it only initiates the system at start up and then the hybrid battery does everything, but at 4.5yrs old and showing 11.8 to12.1v I got a new one fitted. It appears from my research that Yuasa are making these as Toyota only supply and the 45A wet cell is not available elsewhere via online or retail supply. The nearest in other makes I could find being around 35A, which are cheaper but slightly different dimensions. So they fitted the new battery, disposed of the old one reset whatever was needed did a video health check and found a nail in the front tyre which they repaired FOC, the tech said this is always a free service as long as they are repairable, so that's worth remembering. While all this was going on I was sat drinking some very decent coffee and eating all their biscuits in the lounge They eventually bought the car back round to the front door washed and vacuumed and relieved me of £95 inc vat. I thought this was decent value for money and was impressed with the service delivered so thanks Lexus 🙂

  6. I achieve without any problems 5,2 - 5,5 l/100km (according to BC). Real consumption is BC + 0,6l. There was one tour, I drove slowly (100-120 km/h) and achieved 4,6l on BC, range almost 1200 km. Worst consumpution I had - 8,2 on BC (real 8,2 + 0,6=8,8 l) - in Germany 180-200 km/h.

Thank you, I've seen a few posts now where 430 owners have either replaced their standard air suspension at astronomical costs or paid Lexus prices for single parts of the suspension setup, just wish I was able to offer this advice to them sooner, hopefully it'll help a few :) Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

  8. Yup. MOT worthiness is bare bones. OK is not good enough for nigh on 2 tonnes of rear wheel drive barge. My lower control arm bushes are worn, and it causes a juddering from high speed braking. Next on the list. The relentless pursuit of used perfection.

Funny - I did some karting a few months ago and could left foot brake and modulate quite happily - really enjoyed it - but when I tried it in a road car like you just couldn't stop smoothly... so gave up on it for road cars - also drive wife's and daughter's manual cars from time to time anyway so probably best not doing left foot braking anyway!

  11. This is probably obvious but discussions on this UK website are using UK gallons, which are bigger than US gallons. It might be that in Israel your car is set to show US gallons and US mpg. For example, 30 US mpg is about 36 UK mpg. You can check by changing to another measure, like km/litre or litres/100km, which I think is used in much of mainland Europe. So for example, 36 UK mpg (or 30 US mpg) is about 7.8 litres/100km. If you're not sure, it's probably best to check first whether you're on US or UK gallons.

  12. BC coilovers are another option at about £700. However, you will need to specify different spring rates and valving to retain the Lexus ride quality. Spring rates can be found but as for the valving used in OEM shocks, who knows.

  13. Had mine for just over a month and I’m getting about 49. Mainly because almost all my M4 commute (50 mile round trip daily) is currently restricted to 50mph due to Smart motorway roadways, so it’s impossible to be too heavy footed. Because of that I’m in Eco mode for most of the time which is probably helping, and especially in the slow crawling traffic on the way to the motorway when I’ll put it in eco as much as possible, simply cuz I’m only doing 2mph anyway!

  14. Is this your first hybrid? Is this your first auto? When I got my first is300h I found it awful. My second is300h was superb. Same age/spec/everything except the reg plate. I remember getting low low 30''s in my 1st but regular 50''s in my 2nd. I had an auto box mondeo between the two lexus cars. As above. Get to desired speed briskly then keep foot steady so needle stays in eco bit.

  15. There could be some confusion due to different mpg conversion ;-). A km/l expectable result is about 16 km/l, but this has to be intended after some thousands of km. done and learning ho to drive hybrid, try to reach relatively fast cruise speed and then keep eco indicator in eco zone just a bit over the center mark.

Based on Fuelly, 30 MPG would be an off-the-scale terrible average - it looks like 37 MPG is the worst average listed. My brim-to-brim summary: Worst 31.7 MPG Best 44.6 MPG Average 39.5 (over 18 refuels) Bear in mind, the number your computer reports will always be optimistic - by about 10%. Your consumption will always be worse when the weather gets cold. Wait for a warm day when your averaging 50 MPH on a B-road and you'll see 60+ MPG reported 😁

  18. Right from new our IS300h did about 43mpg (indicated) on mixed driving. It has now done 12K miles and is at about 46mpg overall.

  20. To be fair nemesis UK, I do this with my Passat alltrack (poor man's Audi all road). It goes onto a set of VW 16inch alloys with full winter boots when the weather turns. Ensures the better half can get home even though she doesn't have the confidence I have in snow. But it's a pain. Once the conti sport 3s are done, that will be put on all seasons and winter tire package sold. Id be happy to run all seasons on the lex too. I'm hoping that the new Bridgestone a005 may become available in the Lexus 18 rear size. Whilst a full on winter is light and day better than an all season, an all season is still tenfold better than a summer tire. Tho being able to drive in snow is a big help too.   21. Had the noise on my IS, NX and RX !!. Greasing the pads and pins, cleaning the discs don’t make a difference, the noise comes back within a few days. I now treat it as the cars is straining at the bit and desperate to gallop of down the road like the thoroughbred it is...

Ignore the arches and instead make sure that the bottom of the body is parallel with the ground.

  23. How about dropping the rim size to something smaller but still an option for the model, usually detailed in the handbook? Smaller rim diameter means higher tyre profile and (usually) cheaper and more available. More expense to buy the rims but IMHO far better to switch wheels and tyres complete rather than constantly mounting and de-mounting tyres?

  24. Yeah mine was the same, I put it back and much more comfortable, but the headrest is still in a great position should there be an impact from behind. I think some cars automatically move the headrest in a crash, not sure if the GS is the same. The driving position is great, providing you adjust it correctly. In a lot of cars for me the steering wheel seems quite far away as I have long legs, but there is so much adjustment in the GS that I can get it prefect.

  25. Yep I know what you mean. When trying a car out I try to ensure that I'm able to sit moderately upright, steering wheel in a good position and able to relax my neck as head is on headrest. Am 6'4 and the GS seems to have a huge amount of legroom and fairly good headroom. I think this headrest though was pulled right forward as I felt very comfortable but that my head was being pushed forward somewhat.

  31. Sorry to be boring but given the importance of tyres: yours are old and near end of life...of course you would change these at the earliest opportunity. They don’t wear completely evenly so can easily cause or contribute to issues. Front discs do warp so if they’re old... Lower control arm bush is a weak area... MK 4 will fly through an MOT like mine but I know I have to replace lower ball joints: leaking grease but solid = not good enough and lower control arm bushes=look okayish = shot.

I've done exactly that this year so far on mine About £850 for the service and MOT with cambelt, pulleys, waterpump etc ..and ... 4 x new tyres .......... £1250 in all......... and now the rear o/s UCA and front drop links very soon ......... a few £00s but not quite sure how much yet . it's only money and where else can you spend so little on a brilliant car and KNOW that it's really worth it Malc
