  1. well well well ........ what a turn-up eh ! the new rear o/s UCA seems absolutely fine but a pitta of a job ....... now done and the front drop links in throes BUT the n/s FRONT UCA replaced with a Blueprint part some 3.5 years ago and 40k miles is a cause for concern ... it's causing undue premature tyre wear and needs replacing asap My indy is unhappy at the poor longevity of this Blueprint part ............ he's dynamically researching a replacement from the Amayama and Rockauto and Lexus Birmingham sites I'll let you know how we get on with this ...... amazing that the front o/s UCA is still original and seems absolutely fine and now on 215k miles and 23 years young Front pads and discs too are getting very low and he thinks time for replacing too It's only money and after 7.5 years ownership and nigh on 100k miles I'm far from complaining Malc

  2. Thanks @Texas That seems to have done the trick - almost.. Most of the roof functions seem to have returned - except the stopping half way when first opening. It goes all the way back. However the reset method in the manual wasn't what did it - that didn't work. What did work (it seems) was tilting the roof then holding the down button until the roof dropped, then wound fully back then wound fully forward and then tilted again before it stopped - at which point I released the down button and pressed it again to close the roof - then everything worked. I reset the windows and they are working as they should again, and I will check that everything else is OK later - although I have lost the average mpg since top up from the info panel. I'm not sure how accurate the Lexus mpg monitoring is - but I was trying to test from last fill up and compare it physically - guess that can wait until next fill up. Thanks again.

I recently replaced my front wiper blades, did the usual and looked on eBay etc. etc. I could find good quality blades for about £25 (Bosch etc.) but I wanted spoilers on them like the OEM blades. So went to the Lexus dealership and was pleasantly surprised - A pair of OEM blades fitted for £19 inc vat So moral of the story, check with the Lexus dealership before buying non OEM spares!

  5. My RCF Carbon is in at Lexus Hatfield having the £45 winter health check and preparation and so I organised with the dealership to borrow the new long wheel base RX450h for the weekend. We have 4 children between 10 and 13, so we need a 7 seater and I have managed to get this Lexus on my other half’s list of cars we are considering. The model we borrowed is in Luxury spec and apart from that I didn’t spot any obvious non-standard options. So my impressions are: - it is deceptively quick, clearly not a patch on the normal monster I drive, but in town from any speed the hybrid motor provides that instantaneous torque which makes the car feel a lot more nippy than it should. It also means the car is a lot quieter as the gearbox doesn’t kick down as far as it needs. Which means it picks up speed without making the normal fuss - which means when you look down, you don’t realise how much speed you’ve taken on - speaking of quietness, it is almost Bentley quiet in the cabin, bit of tyre noise, but apart from that it is a very pleasant calm place to be - stereo is awesome. It’s not the Levinson in this one, but still sounds great. Music was okay but with spoken word (DAB radio but also audiobooks and podcasts) the hifi was particularly well resolved - the ride is good if a little wallowy, granted this is particularly noticeable from me as I’m going from the ridiculous into the sublime, but nevertheless it is good and very well at everyday speeds on almost any road surface - I haven’t extensively tested it off road, but the few bits I have driven down (access roads to dog walking car parks in the South Downs and a farm entrance to visit friends) the car didn’t deal with them very well at all. Over sprung and under damped on rebound I would say - meant it sounded and felt very crashy. Not a patch even on my old Mitsubishi PHEV thing. - size and practicality. It’s MASSIVE...much bigger than an Outlander. But the legroom is pretty bad in the back. The middle row of seats slide forward and back which is cool. And with 5 people it’s v big. But the draw of this car must be the 7 seats and unless you are transporting 5 year olds, someone is going to be complaining Overall? I really liked it, but feel it is flawed. And vs the pretty flawless Xc90, i feel it’s going to struggle.

  6. If no dash lights then sounds like battery. Modern batteries can suddenly fail with the onset of cold weather as they do so much work. If the battery is original then it probably needs replacing at over 5 years old.

  7. Well I added another watch (Tudor black bay 58) to the slowly growing collection last week. Didn’t mean to but having tried on its bigger similar looking brother I had to put down a refundable deposit to be sure I didn’t want it. It’s a classic size with diameter of 39mm and height of 11.9mm. On the leather strap it’s an absolute corker. Once it arrived and I put it on it was only ever going to come home with me. Hadn’t intended to buy a watch until my 40th in 5 years but yeah.... couldn’t resist.

  9. I run option 2 with an aftermarket elbow. I like the Jekyll and Hyde intake with the exhaust note, makes it more of an event when she comes on song 😎

  10. I’ve had the same problem - the alarm went off when my wife put her mobile phone in the same place. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the sensors for the alarm are placed in or around the centre console arm rest, so electronic signals in that area from a mobile phone may well activate the sensors and set the alarm off. We have not put a mobile phone or any other electronic device in that area since!

  11. We picked up this a couple of months ago. With the 240PS Auto petrol it's rather nice, if not a little thirsty. But a price worth paying to avoid diesel imo. We have a 10yo, 7yo and 5yo plus all the usual football, Scouts, camps etc with friends and it's a decent fit though you do need to slide that middle row if you want to put the bigger ones in the back. I found the 2 Series, Tiguan and Touran all to be noticeably smaller.

  12. No I think it’s just down to springs and dampers. Admittedly the wheels are big on the RXL, but it’s not a lack of tyre sidewall that makes the suspension top out with a crash when going over bumps and bumps - it even did it on sleeping policemen. I think it’s easy to forget how much practice Mitsubishi have off-road. After countless generations of Shoguns, Paris Dakar success for decades and all of the other soft roaders they’ve built, they know a thing or two about how to dial in a good suspension setup. The RX-L on the other hand is an off-roader in looks only...so I don’t blame the engineers for not making a use case for the suspension to do very much except for climbing curbs in posh suburbs.

  14. Did they replace the VIN sticker on the lower inner section of the door? Every panel should have a VIN sticker and its absence is a sign of bodywork not being done to Lexus standards. I was told this by a Jemca bodyshop supervisor. (Another Toyota/Lexus dealer that does have its own bodyshop). The sticker is quite expensive - I think I was told it was around £100. So it's an obvious thing to skip if costs are being kept down. But if it's an insurance claim and the work is being done to Lexus standards, the sticker should be there. If you can't find it, check the inner rims of the other doors to see where it should be, as they're sometimes difficult to spot. The bonnet and boot have them too, as well as the main side body panels.

  16. nearly ever car designed after 2005 is built with a price in mind and not a standard as they were prior ot 2005 i had been a honda owner for some 25+ yrs ( lexus wernt about then ) having virtually ever model they produced prelude x4 crx x2 accord accord type r accord aerodeck nsx na1 s2000 x2 jordan civic, logo etc and the build quaility was second to non so in 2007 i bought my wife a civic gt 2.2 diesel and was utterly discgusted in the quaility "lada esque " door handles sat nav that pack in ! knocking from front , gearbox was shocking ...i then went to lexus (pre owned ) and havent looked back wife has a 250 se-l and im going to buy another gs300 sport .. what people dont realise is we all drive around in cars 5-8-10-12-15 yrs old and expect them to be just as they rolled off the line . ... ive tried the bmw -merc -wouldnt go no where near a vw - stuff and nothing compares to LEXUS ..... just my pennies worth .

  17. Garage just called and want to pull out of deal now 🤬 as they were going to buy my smart car and give me lexus and 2000 pounds now saying as they only small garage dont feel comfortable buying mine as 6000 pounds a lot of money for them
