  1. Does this mean the end of End of The GS in the UK?

  2. If you do have one of these most excellent motors ( I don't ) would it not be wise to 'invest' in a new rad sooner rather than later seeing as you now know that this problem is virtually unpredictable ( I say noticing ATF in the coolant resivour is too late, damage may already be done). Imagine how you would feel if it was to happen to your pride and joy after you were privy to this info, I would kick my self for days!!! And No I am not a supplier of LS rads! paul m.

  4. Sorry just been really busy recently but yes the car had injector 1 replaced and it's all fine now. Must have just been a dodgy injector.

  5. Classic knee jerk post. Couple of things. If you crash at 70mph you are dead. If you crash at 120mph you are dead. You cannot be any more dead than dead. If driving at high speed was so dangerous in itself Germany would be a blood bath - but it isn’t. I appreciate you may not wish to drive at these speeds but plenty motorists do. It’s good and it’s right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Just quick update. few days ago I replaced battery on my car, which was getting bit weaker and not holding enough charge. fitted new battery and no more key fob issues. So I guess due to weak battery it was affecting computers and hence key fob issues. New main battery and no more issues.

  7. A huge thankyou to everyone at Lexus Cardiff for a wonderful handover experience yesterday. I had 18 months of faultless ownership of my previous NX, then got offered a deal i couldnt refuse. Enter NX Luxury with convenience pack and protection pack.

  8. What mobile phone do you use, iPhone or Android? An OBDII reader is likely to give you the majority of the codes. Typically the more you spend, the more ECU's can be read. If you have a local indi they maybe able to read the codes for you

  10. I m hoping to take it in to some garage who can actually read the codes with proper tools, failing that as said earlier, on the look out for diagnostic kit for such scenarios, any heads up will be highly appreciated. Regards.

  11. I didn't unhook the battery for the MOT, I was trying to clean the instrument cluster after the test, took the terminal off before removing the fascia for a better access. Took it off as initially did not want any warning lights as a result of fascia removal. Well that was the plan and rest is history 😇. Maybe it triggered something but so far it is behaving itself (touch wood). Now I am on look out for some diagnostic kit, will see how my search end up🤔.

  12. Well done clearing the Xmas tree dash lights, that's a neat trick. Well found. You should get the stored codes read to see what tripped the lights. Then clear all codes and hope the lights behave. If they don't, then re read the codes and get an accurate fault list. Good luck and fingers crossed.

  14. Right a quick update: I was searching online about this light combination, I came across a tip that if you press the brake padel 8-10 times with ignition at acc/on option, it will clear the check hybrid/vsc light temporarily. Thought there is nothing to lose in giving it a try. As mentioned before I unplugged and plugged the -ve 12v battery terminal, so I just loosened it and re tight it. After that I turned on the ignition and still no joy, so I had all the worst thoughts for the hybrid system.... So I just switched off the car and was abt to make a call to recovery service, thought I would give a try to that trick which I read abt online, so ignition in full on position without car being started, pumped the brake 11 times, ignition switch off and on, so moment of truth yes it cleared the check hybrid system and warning triangle error, only thing left was check engine light. So I drove the car around the block and no more check hybrid vsc light, wohooo. Fingers crossed that it sorted the issue😎. Coming to check engine light, after driving around the block with no warning sign for the check hybrid system, I switched off the car completely and switched back on, and behold no more Check engine lights at all....🤩. Drove again for another 10 mins and no more xmas lights on dash at all..... wohoooo. I will keep my eyes at this for next few days, hopefully it would not return. Looks like it's my lucky escape, thought I would share my experience as it may help others, who could be in such scenario and need a quick fix. Regards.

  15. Hi, just to chip in. My LS430 on LPG for almost 30k miles, also fitted in Poland, no flashlube - the installer told me flashlube was a waste of money for the 3UZ FE engine. Everything in top order so far. Compression as if the engine was new. Also had the filler fitted under the fuel flap.

  16. Sorted! To keep the last screen displayed go into Main menu and then 'General Settings.' Scroll down the list of options for the screen and there is an option to switch off the auto screen reset feature. I have now managed to sort my screen out (thanks to a thirty minute stationary traffic queue...).

  17. UPDATE. Took it in to my local garage and they replaced the lamda sensor at the front of bank 2. The OEM part was £96.70p Labour 1 1/2 hours at £66 an hour. All in with VAT £234.84p. Not too bad. They seem to have done a good job, including a 10 mile test drive and the light is now off. As a matter of interest Lexus Cambridge wanted £203 for the part alone!

  18. This has been an interesting read, especially the latest posts comparing driving standards in the UK vs Germany. I've never driven in Germany, but have heard from those that have - and that have lived there - that lane discipline is much better as recent posts have also noted. The latest road fatality figures that I can find (from 2015) are enclosed for those interested. Germany is by no stretch the worst, but the UK performs better (in the sense that fewer deaths is better) and that surprises me based on the anecdotal evidence. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-related_death_rate From other sources I've read, the trend in Germany has been reducing fatalities faster than in the UK. Anyway, I think what I've established from reading this thread is that some drivers want a faster car and some don't. Some consider the 300h perfectly adequate while others want more power. Some would prefer to stick with rwd, while others think the ES is a step down from the GS. I think that's what thirty-five pages has shown me...people want different things. Who knew? 🤓

  20. On the US forum, the guy said that he noticed transmission fluid in his coolant reservoir. That prompted him to go for the new radiator. I suggest it might be a good idea for all of us 430/460 owners to check our coolant reservoirs regularly until we decide to change the radiator.

  21. I think the answer is very probably a big fat NO The guy i spoke to which made me raise this in another post a week or so ago had indeed suffered the same fate with his earlier Ls430,............ he didn't notice any changes and it cost him a £3000 gearbox rebuild that he was lucky to be able to do Normally a replacement new box ............ or scrapping the car Malc

  22. I do think that any issue connected to LS430’s and LS460’s has to been viewed in context. If you compare these cars to any other luxury car of the same vintage and cost to purchase, Merc’s, BMW, VW, JAG the actual maintenance cost of the Lexus is minor in comparison. If it means changing the radiator, after a considerable number of years, which I have done, is probably the only major outlay to give peace of mind, then I think that this is ‘ fantastic’. The major outlay is only low hundreds at most, and not thousands, as on the other brands. Continued Happy Motoring , Roger

  24. Wow... class... Fair enough, if you have no skill to drive don't drive... not even at 70MPH. Maybe it wasn't clear (although if you read my post above is quite clear) the speeds noted were all Autobahn - perfectly legal. I would easily drive at 180MPH without a drop of doubt if there would be suitable roads and I no need to refuel every 15 minutes. Driving in Germany at 120MPH you don't even stay in outside lane, you actually drive with the flow at that speed and change the lanes as soon as you overtake, because quite often cars pass you at the speeds you would think you were standstill. I appreciate that in UK, average driver is so bad that driving at 120MPH even on the best road would be ignorant and dangerous, even if you best driver in the world. Somebody would definitely cut in front of you at 60MPH without looking and it would cause mayhem. I would still advocate that speed on motorway must be increased to at very least 90MPH (in line with Europe).

  25. Ever since Malc mentioned the 460 radiator problem, I've been trying to get a verification of it. I posted a question on the US forum and got the reply that I DIDN'T want: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-4th-gen-2007-2017/910097-transmission-cooling.html Thanks Malc, I'll start checking my coolant overflow tank and arrange a radiator change on my next service. BTW Oil 5w-30 is pretty standard.

  26. Sometimes, we have to pay for out "dignity"... We buy maybe not the worst clothes just to look decent, eat not the worst food if we care about nutrition and I see no difference in driving - sometimes driving car into the city is not most economical way, but considering alternatives that extra cost is necessary. I personally don't think people should be making such choices for "privilege" of being independent and driving them selves around (that is basic right in my opinion and we already pay for it more then anyone else), but that is still better then sharing diseases and farts on the public transport.

  29. That doesn't sound right Lee. I tend to keep track of my fuel consumption when I fill up and have been getting 30-33mpg on average. This is a mixture of A roads and town driving. Admittedly I don't do that many short journeys, with my main commute being 25-30 minutes.

  30. Well, I bought this car two weeks ago and it’s my first Lexus. I am very happy so far (1,000 miles!), everything seems to work fine and there’s very little wear. It is the basic model and has few extras, just parking and the power boot lid and is notably missing the Mark Levinson audio. The paint has been touched up in a few places and the car has been frequently washed so there are some swirl marks and some lime scale deposits, but it’ll respond well to a proper detail once the weather improves. It has been serviced by Lexus 11 times and though I have yet to access the detail on the my Lexus app, I’m very much hoping everything has been done as required. I was a bit disappointed that the tyres were old (two were dated 2007) so I’ve already put on a set of Michelin premacy 4. There is a bit more wind noise than I expected so I will try the sealant fix shortly. Also, I’m struggling a bit with the cable tie glove box fix but the only other real interior problem is a compression mark on the steering wheel rim, about which I think there is nothing I can realistically do. I like my cars to be perfect and keep them a long time and experience has show me that buying the best and paying a bit more on the way in pays dividends in the long run; I don’t think I struck too bad a deal considering my trade in. But it wasn’t £8k 😊 Anyway, just saying hello and (fingers crossed) I look forward to a long and trouble-free ownership!

  31. I use Gummi-Pflege on the door and boot rubbers, excellent stuff. I'd avoid using silicone as it can attract grit and dirt and it's a bugger to remove should some get somewhere it shouldn't..

  32. This is early warning of my motoring R.I.P.! I was pursuing this car, thinking it might possibly be my 'last car'. Then was told by Doctor that I shouldn't drive! The medication affects you too much! So had to cancel the purchase -I'm sure to the annoyance of the seller. So, after a 40+ year life of (so many!!) cars and many adventures, i now have to live on the memories. Luckily i have a few pictures and the memories last (the medication only says it affects 'short term' memory! Gee thanks!) It's not any of the 'big' illnesses. Insomnia! But it usually is permanent at my age, with no 'cure' just slight allieviation. As someone said, 'It's no wonder sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture." It IS!! I used to be able to doze at will; now it's a distant..... The car should make someone very happy. If you're passing my door, do NOT come and take me for a spin-sadists!

  33. Came out to find a lovely scrape across the bumper this morning. You can even see where they've given it a rub to see how bad it is. Obviously either too bad or not bad enough to leave a note. But at least they cared enough to get out and have a look. Cheers guys!
