  2. Evening all, not posted for quite some time! After many a night researching track wheel fitment & tyres, I finally got round to ordering and fitting my new wheels and tyres, for what I hope to be a great year ahead, exploring some of the bigger more open circuits down south (I'm from Scotland, and we only have Knockhill). I settled on square 18x9.5 and chose to play it safe, opting for an ET45 offset. I didn't fancy the idea of rolling arches/buffing expensive tyres on the body with a lower 'pokier' offset. Tyres are Michelin CUP2s in 265/35/18 As it turns out, this is the widest CUP2 available in 18inch. Originally, I really wanted 275, but now they're on, I'm glad I went for 265 as the fitment is pretty close. Along with the wheels and tyres, I've fitted Carbotech XP10's pads front and back, braded lines with performance fluid. Last year I fitted Penske two way adjustable shocks from RR Racing with their URSS, and since have been desperate to take the car to the next level with proper rubber and pads. I think (hope!) its going to be an incredibly capable package. I've attached a few pics. I speak with Jean-Luc who also tracks his car. Anyone else on the forum track their ISF and could hopefully share their experiences? Stevie

  5. As promised, here is my more detailed review of the LC500 V8 1. Models and Features When I test drove the LC500 and its hybrid counterpart (for about 100 miles each) both cars had the full Sport+ pack with HUD and Mark Levinson ICE. I actually purchased the “base” model and would comment as follows: - On the road, I cannot tell any difference between the versions with and without the LSD and 4WS. - I only listen to talk radio so the “big” stereo is pointless for me. - I previously had an 4RX450h with HUD and found that reflections in the windscreen from the bezel in the dash top was a problem. With the F-Style instruments in the LC and the large digital speedo, I have found the HUD a unnecessary. - The glass roof is quite a nice feature in a coupe. - In my opinion, the 20 inch wheels look better than the larger “bling” option although I don’t think that there is much difference in ride comfort. I have Bridgestone Turanza T005 run-flat tyres rather than the Potenza (which I found gave a very harsh ride on my Aston DB9). - I went for Sonic Red with Black full leather inside. There is not much to choose in comfort between the standard and sport seats. I would have liked to have cream leather with the red exterior but it is sadly not an option. My second choice would have been White/Rose. - Does the rear extensible wing really do anything at normal speeds? 2. Exterior and Styling I know that styling is a personal thing but a lot of people have commented on the striking looks (and rarity). If you look carefully, there are 4 exhaust tailpipes but these are hidden in the rear skirt - typical Lexus restraint. The rear skirt area is the only place on the car which is difficult to wash as it has many horizontal “grooves” which pick up dirt. The very long (and thick) doors which are set well back on the car mean that you need to plan carefully where you stop in case an adjacent car parked too close prevents you getting back into the driver’s door. I like the windscreen washer jets which pump out water in the centre of the blades as this gives a better wash at speed. 3. Interior and Controls Everyone knows this is really a 2 seater. The touchpad is pretty useless and nowhere near as good as the joystick type of controller on the 4RX. I have had the SatNav screw up and need resetting from time to time (push and hold radio ON button) but this is a minor irritant for me as I don’t use it very much. I see that the same system on the latest NX has a software upgrade so maybe I need to get this done. I have one slight rattle from the right of the dash at 50mph on coarse tarmac but you can only hear it in warmer temperatures. I might get this looked at if it gets more annoying. 4. Driving and Performance I am very impressed with the smooth and docile performance in traffic which transitions to high performance on open roads. It’s like two cars in one. The brakes are huge and very progressive with excellent feel. (Maybe I have been driving hybrids for too long and have forgotten how a normal brake pedal feels.) I’m glad they didn’t fit ceramic discs as these are “track” focussed and are not so good on the road as they need warming up a lot. I have no squealing like I did on my DB9. The driving modes: - ECO – Wouldn’t know, never used it. - Comfort – Not a lot softer than Normal. Only notices at low speeds in town. - Normal – As advertised. A good compromise and not too firm. - Sport – Seems to take a few seconds for the mode to change to allow higher revving etc. - Sport Plus – Roll is reduced but even here the ride is not too severe. The steering and throttle response are more aggressive but not stupidly so. The exhaust noise and “crackle” in the last two modes is very nice experience – a bit “boy-racer” but hey... It lives up the GT billing. Not a sports car but a comfortable and fast car for grown-ups. It feels “tough” and can definitely be used day-to-day. 5. Maintenance and Service I have cold tyre pressures set to 2.4 bar which seems to rise to about 2.7 bar after warm up. I am getting an amazing 26 mpg overall which is outstanding for a 5 litre V8. For comparison, the Aston 6 litre V12 did 16 – 18 mpg on the same journeys. Nothing leaks. I have checked the oil and none has been used in the time I have had the car. Servicing costs are as follows: Intermediate Service £345 Full Service £596 This compares very favourably with the DB9 which basically costs £1K per year at the main dealer. 6. Overall An excellent car but it remains to be seen what depreciation will do to residuals in the long term.

  7. I have mine set for 30 secs too and also find it's too short.. i think 60 secs is ideal.. I wonder if there is any hidden setting tht allows it to be set longer than 30secs...

  8. Lovely blast today in this, different to my 911 but in a good way, the sound on start up was magnificent. Wasn’t sure on the colour but even that started to grow on me. Lexus Hull as friendly and helpful as ever.

  9. I was lucky enough to drive a LC 500 (V8) for the day today, while my own car was at the dealer's. Just loved it: what a car. Could not get enough of that V8 rumble. I was amazed how easy and civilised the car is to drive in busy traffic. I also found it extremely comfortable. Not sure I would go for black myself (I love the sonic red), but the red/black interior is just stunning. Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk

  10. The OEM battery (Panasonic) in my non-hybrid IS lasted until the 11 year mark and this is quite a common point in which they are failing, so 4-5 does seem on the low side for a ( non-cranking) hybrid to me! If it was a Panasonic That failed on you then I would be looking for another 'problem' that caused it to. paul m.

  12. Long and short of it one doesn’t exist, at least not that I know of. Putting a weight on the roof that comes in three parts and opens/closes is always going to end in tears! Did a three week European road trip in our SC down to South coast of Spain and back up; travel light and get a set of the tailor made bags that fit in the boot, even with the roof down. We had great fun...enjoy hth

  13. In my opinion it doesn't look as smart as a NX, it did seem a lot smoother a ride. I placed a order for the UX as wanted to down size from my current NX.

  14. I know what you mean about the USB location. On the Takumi spec the USB and cup holder is covered by a piece of polished wood. I’d want the wood on show (😃) so I’d have to run my iPhone cable to a rear port. I’d make an exception if Apple CarPlay ever comes to Lexus UK. It’s a pity there’s no USB port in the central cubby.

  16. Yes, one of the things I like about the LC500 is the twin "characters" displayed by the car. A quiet and civilised ride in traffic combined with a very aggressive punch in sport modes is very appealing. I am a Gemini though...

  17. I agree completely Linas; and for me that makes the LC ten times more appealing

  18. I imagine we will see a lot of them in the diesel version which is under £80 K, goes to 60 in 4.9 seconds at 49 mpg. Quite a sensible choice. And maybe, on an empty carpark, you won't always find somebody parked just next to you, which, I have to admit, is quite an annoying feature of the LC500. It's prettier than the 6 series and the s-class coupe. I imagine that there is more room in the back than in the LC500 and as such to be preferred if you only want one car.

  19. Hi some of you maybe aware last year in had my IS paint work fully corrected as it had swirls and marks all over it. Since then I've been on some 1-2-1 course and purchased alot of the kit myself. I've now done a few cars but today decided to go over my 13 plate IS again This didn't take long at all because my washing technique is very strict so very minor scratching to the laqer that's all. Lexus paint is very soft so it's always gonna happen however that makes it nice to work with when correcting. Here are some pictures from today, if any of you would like your paintwork correcting drop me a pm and we can discuss further.
