  2. Don't forget the headlights need to be on for the headlight washers to work just incase you didn't take that into account

  3. Took me a while to get round to this, didn't it. Few things to sort out, but overall pretty pleased... it's not a high spec car by any means, but even the SE is hardly spartan. & Being newer than I expected to get brings useful things like Bluetooth/usb/aux rather than a tape player! 😀

  4. Greetings, from slightly northeast (Sweden, land of vikings and such), just figured I'd make one of these fairly pointless posts ^^ I've found that this forum offers vastly more in regards of useful information than the Swedish equivalency, and thus here I am! I've already read and learnt a ton from crawling here the past few days. 🙂 Since me and the mrs put a second tiny human on this earth recently, and figured it was about time to move upwards size wise from our Audi A4 Avant (2006), we bought a lovely Lexus RX 400h Executive (2008) about 3 weeks ago. So far, I couldn't be happier, it's simply a tremendous drive as well as a joy to look at, and I find myself making all sorts of excuses just to take it for a spin. 😉 It also works tremendously well in fairly large amounts of snow (on snow tires, since that's legally required around here), which is useful since we live on a mountain, in the middle of a forest, on a dirt road. I must say that it carries itself very well indeed, compared to our Quattro Audi. The project of the past two or three days has been to create an audio DVD with mp3's that was still playable in the Mark Levinson DVD changer (since it doesn't support mp3 dvd's for whatever reason), something that turned out to be rather tricky since the recommended software was last updated in 2009, but somehow I managed! ^^ So, essentially, I just wanted to make my presence known, and thank you all for all the information I've already harvested from this lovely place! Looking forward to more of the same! 😉 Cheers! // Kristoffer

  7. It was cheap! Pics to follow when it's not filthy... It's had a knock on the NSF corner a few years ago which wasn't repaired all that well - I'll stick a new wing on it, probably a bumper cover too. The appeal of this one was that it's newer and lower milage than I'd otherwise budgeted for, it was cheap enough to still be quids-in once it's all sorted, and also the minor point about it still being under extended warranty, which I can extend for another 2 years... I was never really interested in the non-hybrid GS. Would have preferred an LS to a GS430, and the 300 didn't really excite me... I was originally looking for an LS430, but my local Lexus specialist convinced me that the 450h was the way to go. Once I'd driven one, it wasn't going to go any other way!

  11. Oh! I will pop out to the garage and count my cylinders. There was talk of an LC-F with a twin turbo engine - but not yet.

  12. If I remember correctly when lights are on first use of windscreen should also trigger headlamp one - you could use that to check the button. Next I would press the button and listen if pump is starting. If yes check pipe work.

  14. Doog442 I’ve had my IS200 for nearly 13 years and never been able to get rid of the ‘knock’. Pretty much given up now, just ignore it.

  16. Watched the first episode of the new run the other night. Unfortunately, this is no longer a car program so that's it for me. Just tedious gimmicks.

  17. Hi Bob, 2007 Lexus will not make you look like a pimp or gangster in the UK. Ask your in laws what they are suggesting and if they insist on BMW or Merc or Audi and are happy to buy you one then all good, you will have enough for repairs. If they are not planning on buying the car for their grand children, maybe tell them the Lexus is very safe and reliable and even if it has a big engine it is a petrol and the car is very strong will do more miles than the German brands in more comfort. At the end of the day it is your money and your safety and you can't go wrong with a large Lexus. Keep us updated.

  19. No, man. My wife is great but my parents in law can be very silly and superficial. Like "small town" mentality.

  20. Be open-minded about the CVT: it has its pros and cons, but I think that to make the most of it, 1) you have to be prepared to adapt your driving style to it and 2) You should not try and compare it to a conventional auto box... which most motoring journalists do.

  21. I've had my NX now for 11 months after coming from a Q3. I've changed my driving style to suit the NX and have no regrets. Yes the Audis are better in some respects, but the NX is better in others. Overall I think the Lexus brand is far better. My NX is in Messa red with tan interior- Top choice!
