  1. C&M have announced £5 or £10 parking on the day. Shame really, as this event didn’t exist at the time I created the thread. Personally, I’m not interested in the publicised event or paying £10 to park. I propose keeping the tenner and meeting at the plan B location at Wellesbourne M. My tenner will be invested in a full fat full English brekkie.

  2. Well I've always run the fuel right down until the warning light comes on and even 10's of miles with the warning light on in every car I have ever owned and I have never had an issue. I see filling up with fuel as a necessary evil so in order to reduce the number of fill-ups then I stretch each tank as far as I can.

  3. I am going by previously read posts rather than my own personal experience here... I thought that, in the face-lifted model, the speed limits no longer appear on the map, but are displayed in the small TFT display between the speedo and the rev counter/eco dial. This is because the new model does not use the map-based speed limits, but dynamic road sign recognition instead.

  4. Gotta say when I read the 'cause' of this thread's posting I was a bit horrified....wheel nuts loose!!!!! Sorry but that is quite basic. please don't let your confidence exceed your competence when working on your car cause you could be driving somewhere near me! paul m.

  5. Only a guess but I would think so because hybrids aren't tested on emissions at MOT.

  7. Guys, so you're aware the event on at C&M is heavy duty. https://www.facebook.com/events/2090530934395944/?ti=as You're not the only group who were planning a visit by reading the comments. Sorry to hear your plans have had to change.

  8. I just had a daft issue this afternoon. Just had the rx400h se-l for 3 weeks, parked at the local reservoir I decided to investigate the screens and DVD player in the rear of the car. I knew that I needed the ignition on AC for the screens to switch on. So, jumped in the back and started checking, went to get out and the child locks were set on the door, so, I couldn't get out. No problem, just open the window and open the door from the outside.......... nope. Had to lean over between the front seats and open the rear window from the drivers armrest 🙄. Child locks are now disabled. 😂

  9. Your choice fella - but wherever we are, I'm sure we'll all hear you 😉

  10. Guy's it's just been suggested to me to stagger things, allowing those that want to go to C&M to wander over to Wellesbourne if they want. So, 11am Touchdown Cafe, West side of Wellesbourne Mountford airfield. Airfield Estate, Loxley Rd, Wellesbourne, Warwick CV35 9EU

  11. Jus to clarify, I am not trying to discourage anyone from meeting at C&M. However, as the creator of the thread, I do feel a responsibility to inform you of C&M's intent to charge you for parking. Obviously it's your choice to go wherever you want 😀 Personally, I would prefer to organise an evening meet at C&M a little later in the year.

  14. Got a new washer and O ring from Lexus and finally got round to looking at it Monday. Took the injector out and looked at the metal washer and couldn't remove it as needed a coat hanger wire to make a hooked end as around 7 inches deep inside the castings. Shined a torch and it looked in good condition so left it as is. The O ring on the other hand was well perished and part missing. cleaned injector and fitted new O ring. Refitted everything and primed the fuel system and started the car, thankfully not blowing, so fixed! Many thanks to this write up. At least I have spares if another fails. I like my Lexus. Hope any other jobs are an easy and cheap fix. James.

  15. All credit to Lexus Plymouth they are doing there best to help, however I'm not left with much optimism as they keep coming back to the fact that the car is used as a taxi and Lexus warranty doest cover commercial use. As part of the inspection they checked all the paint thicknesses and they are sure the car still has its original paint, that helps a lot in the claim. its a waiting game now, like I said earlier if it gets rejected then ill just do it myself.

  16. Thanks for the reply. Hope the updates sort the other issues (Nav?) I don't think it was weather related either. Mine is due its first service next month, I'll see what they say and report back if interesting. Modern aircraft occasionally get spurious messages too - we're in good company!

  17. One should not rely on the P engagement when on a hill as this will put a lot of strain on the pawl and is certainly not a safe way to leave the car. It may even prove difficult to re-engage D as you have to overcome the force against the pawl. The parking brake should definitely hold the car on any incline that will be encountered. On my car I do notice a very slight movement when releasing the footbrake after applying the parking brake but we are talking mm and not the extensive distance the car moved in the video. There is definitely something amiss there. I would get it checked asap as it is a) dangerous and b) liable to damage the gearbox if that is used to hold the car on an incline

  18. Further thoughts on this topic: has anyone noticed similar corrosion on the other side of the car? One assumes that structurally the car is symmetrical because of the front suspension so there may be a similar water trap ...difficult to see because of the big black relay/ fuse box which sits on top. I can't see any corrosion there on my car but then it has none on the other ( driver) side so it's not a good example to judge by.

  19. Mines currently being inspected by Lexus Plymouth, they are going to report back to Lexus About having this done as a warranty claim. I’m guessing it will be a waiting game. I already have a plan for mine if the claim Is rejected, I’m guessing there’s a weekends work there to rectify that to the point where the rust is treated and won’t return easily, perversely I wouldn’t be fussed if they did reject to claim so I can do the job myself Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. On the facelift model, which is what I have, speed limits are no longer displayed in the sat nav. as DanD states it now uses the road sign camera recognition system.

  21. It's pretty rubbish really. My wife picked up a new Qashqai yesterday with upgraded TomTom Nav system. Haven't used it in anger yet but it connects to the house wifi and updates itself. How hard can it be?

  22. Well above is how bad the Lexus seats can get and here’s is the improvement after added some liquid dye ...this was the results a couple of hours later and 24 hours later .

  23. No it won't cushion the ride. If one or more of the struts is high, the ride will be very bumpy. It's like having very stiff suspension on a high setting.

  24. When I had my Toyota Celica GT4 a few years ago the guys in the owners club found that putting their mothers as a named driver on their insurance brought the premiums down dramatically. A few of the guys didn't even tell their mothers lol. I wonder if that trick still works?

  25. It's way too high for my liking, but not as bad as you might think - just over £700/year with Admiral. Last year when I was obtaining quotes it was a few hundred more, hence in fact pleasantly surprised that a fault accident during the year and no NCB ended up me paying less. Goes to show what everyone on here already knows or has experience with: we're trying to apply common sense on an industry, which is guided by all kinds of metrics and common sense doesn't feature. My motorbike insurance goes up every year even though 14+ years NCB, sometimes by as much as 100%. You then end up calling and a surreal conversation begins, s'thing along the following lines: Me: Can you explain the reason for the increase in premium this year? Insurance: You live in London and motorbike thefts are rife. Me: But I've got 3rd party only. Insurance: Doesn't matter... You get the gist.

  26. We've all done it, this cost me £500 in August. Reversed into a post at a petrol station shortly after having a 12" subwoofer installed. Now I turn it down before reversing so I hear the sensors 🙂

  27. By the way had my first real day of giving the GS250 some right boot in sports mode. Usually spend most of my time queuing and driving in traffic in eco mode. Little else you can really do in Greater London. Have to say the car really shows another side to its personality when pushed. Was very impressed by the sound of that V6 when pushed past 3.5k rpm. Sounds bigger than it is to be honest. Also fairly impressed with the performance from what is seen as a brisk if not fast car. Even though the BHP isn't anything to boast about, I guess those 6 cylinders earn their corn when you need some overtaking power. Very impressed with this car so far. There's a certain smugness setting in that I had my my Accord V6 Coupe. And that's knowing that your ownership is (touching wood) going to be hassle free and in the long term relatively low cost.

  28. Not to mention the lethargic speed many of the baristas work in the motorway services areas and the length of the queues for coffee...!

  29. OK, so the paint blemish was caused by a paintless dent removal carried out by previous owner. Lexus have given their usual excellent aftersales service and fixed it free of charge and also delivered back to me. This is one of the reasons I rate Lexus as the best owner experiences I have had in all my years of driving. Thanks to the guys at Exeter Lexus.

  30. No idea about the next NX - sure others here will know more - but if your journies are mainly that short I'd say you are an ideal candidate for a full electric car, and hiring a conventionally powered car for occasional longer trips.

  31. Hi Just thought I'd say farewell to all you IS owners. I've absolutely loved my IS 300h F Sport but have now purchased this so i wont be far away lol. Had a great deal which I really couldn't say no to. It's fully loaded including a sunroof and ML system which I've never had before. Thanks for all your hints and tips on the IS

  32. As for that "foam" from you video it does looks like energy absorber. It probably get loose as normally they are fixed. As for hitting those hidden object I've scratch a while ago my bumper by this crazy design outside rabbis bin: They are quite common in Warsaw in Poland and very easy to miss when you are reversing. Yes they are made out of concrete! Ha found it! It is still there: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.272305,20.9263271,3a,75y,340.98h,71.24t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s49tg4uWH6rNxXHwMhhOwCg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 Then it was on the opposite side of the road sign and I hit it by reversing from that local road.
