  1. Hello all! Had my GSF for just over a year, only really now getting involved with the whole 'club' aspect of car ownership as I never had the time before! Found a few other random GSF owners on instagram and was directed here! Daily driven for the past year, couple of worthy road trips and about 16k miles later, all I can say is I 'F'-ing love my GS. For anyone heading to Simply Japanese at Beaulieu Motor Museum, hope to catch you there! Kieran

  2. Hello all, Kieran here 🙂 Had my GSF for a year now and never thought to join the forum until mentioned by an existing member! My F has the red interior, sunroof/ Mark Levinson pack, no mods thus far - but that doesn't mean there isn't a list! Based in Hampshire btw.

  3. Those faults would be covered under the Lexus Extended Warranty provided you keep the warranty valid by servicing at a Lexus dealer etc. https://d3rvezpmgp265q.cloudfront.net/lexusone/lexgbenv11/Lexus-Extended-Warranty-Terms-and-Conditions_tcm-3157-1184113.pdf

  4. We'll, there's good and bad news. Sadly, I decided to pull the plug and end my 7 year ownership and with several tears, off she went on the back of a recovery truck. The good news is she paid the deposit on my new car and she's back on the road with her new owner. She even came to visit last week. It went to an enthusiast who already had a spare ECU and with the help of an LPG specialist her many problems have been fixed. If she gives her new owner even half the memories she gave me, I'll be pleased. For me now, I've entered the world of the PHEV and got myself a Mercedes C350e estate.

  5. Values of older Hybrid Vehicles are now set to soar as the new Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge is introduced in London! The new charge is now in effect & comes on top of the existing Congestion Charge so it will cost £11-50p Congestion Charge plus £12-50p ULEZ charge making £24-00p!! just to take a non compliant vehicle into central London!! The yearly charge based on a 5 day working week with 4 weeks holiday already deducted is a whopping £5,760!!!! The new ULEZ zone is expanding by 2021 to include a massive area encompassing the North & South Circular Roads. Birmingham, Derby & Newcastle are also set to introduce similar charges. The good news is the most popular older Hybrid vehicles such as the Toyota Prius, Honda Civic IMA, Lexus GS450h ( yes even this superb luxury 3.5L cruiser ) are already Ultra Low Emission Vehicles ( ULEV's) so the owners of these vehicles are smiling all the way to the Bank now!! If you would like to check if you will have to pay the new ULEZ charge, enter your registration number into the tfl website via this link:- https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle-35896 Suddenly renewing the Hybrid Battery in your old car makes perfect sense.

  7. Hi guys, Just picked up my LS430 and will be giving it a full service soon. I've always done my own servicing, brakes etc and only ever left the big jobs to the professionals. I'm a big fan of Euro Car Parts and have used them previously. I've always been able to find high quality parts there for my previous cars, often from the same manufacturer OEM use. However when looking there for parts for the LS430 they only seem to offer cheap off-brand filters, and there's no way I'm using them. Is my best bet to go straight to the dealers for parts or could anybody recommend a decent online company? I'd much prefer to have parts delivered to me. Many thanks 🙂

  8. I’ve just bought an is200 and I’ve been doing some bits on it. The front fog lights appeared to be full of gravel so I pulled them out. It looks like these things haven’t been looked at in years! The insides were completely deteriorated and full with mud and dirt. I took the hose pipe to it to clean it out and bits of bulb, metal and glass all came out with the dirt. I’ve been left with essentially the housing: These are the connectors that are inside the bumper: Are these salvageable at all or is it completely pointless to try? I thought about either: - Buying blanking plates (if they exist), getting rid of these and blocking up the bumper - Buying what’s missing and somehow putting these things back together with new (or used) parts - Buying whole used units that work from eBay and just plugging them in but not sure those electric connectors work (conscious that this might be pricey!) - Blocking up the back of these so that no other dirt can get in, and then just put them back in the car without bulbs to fill the gap, but they then obviously won’t be functional I don’t really want to be putting much money into this car as I bought it very cheap as a run around, so cheapest options will probably win, but if there’s a cheap way of getting these working then I’ll be interested. If anyone’s got any guidance on what to do here it would be much appreciated! Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. I have had the Michelin Cross Climate fitted for about a year, and I was amazed at the way they cut the road noise. So much so, I have had a set fitted to my wife's Yaris with the same effect. Highly recommend!

  11. Less squeaking in mine today with a boot full of stuff.... I considered a GS as an alternative to the RX - the dealer had a 450h which was rather tempting, but the issue I found with it was the lack of practicality. The rear seat doesn't fold, which I think you do have on the IS?

  12. You've been lucky, or simply just didn't have the cars for long enough to see the fuel pump go out but this kind of treatment will definitely put significant wear on it. In the same way that a sample of 1 is unrepresentative of many other avenues in life, it doesn't prove anything. There are always people who smoked two packs of cigarettes a day and lived to 90, but extrapolate the trend out over 100,000 people and see what you find 🙂

  13. Ha! Yes, it's good enough, but it's no Lexus. The base Ceed are perfectly fine but I promised myself I wouldn't have just a 'perfectly fine' car again, hence I only considered the Kia because of needlessly boosty engine and the stylishness of three doors. Unfortunately at the time I wanted to replace the IS, no Lexus really ticked all the boxes for me. The Proceed feels like a fun diversion, but not something I'd keep as long as I did the IS300.

  22. So yesterday I went to start up my poorly LS430 (LPG system not well, couple of sticky valves - all another issue...) The battery was flat, so I went to jump it. For reasons known only to my stupid hands I short circuited the car for about 30 seconds. The result is the car will start but will not rev past 2500rpm. The ICE and climate control are not functional either. I've checked fuse after to fuse and can't find anything. I have fault P2110 (throttle actuator control system) showing on the OBD. All a bit of a sorry do really. Any glimmers of hope from forumites before I have to call a professional? TIA

  25. I'd go with what Simon has said. I buy parts from rockauto as even with delivery it's cheaper than main dealer parts, some parts can take from 3 days to a week to arrive, or I buy parts from lexus birmingham as Simon said, they do give a good discount. An example, I was looking at lower ball joints for an ls430 at Lexuspartsdirect, their price is over £80, lexus birmingham sell them for £52 All in and rockauto was around £30 for the same part, front pads and discs from Lexus birmingham cost me £142 all in. But Lexuspartsdirect do give discount on some parts.

  27. My Ls430 2002 has the same problem, suspension going down on passenger side. Has got progressively worse, but come up to normal when I turn on ignition and the compressor kicks in. I see from above this was repaired for £175 and £75 fitting, I see the cost oF a new shock is about a grand. So was interested to know what you had replaced. I had to have my wheel bearing on this wheel replaced recently, the garage said it wasn't related, but I'm not sure he is correct

  30. Nice to see someone so enthusiastic about the brand, lets face it youtube videos about the RCF range from downright stupid to helpful. To me cars that do 0-60 in the 4 to 5 seconds are a good enough a benchmark for me but really don't tell the whole story. My last car a Mercedes CL65 was pretty quick to 60 but it was the way it took off once on the move that attracted me to it.

  31. Not that I am likely to go into London any time soon seeing Richards post prompted me to check my own car (GS450H). The car is exempt from the extra charge. Reading further I found that being a disabled badge holder I can register 2 cars for exemption from both charges that I may travel in for £10 for three years "even if I do not drive!". The exemption running along the same eligibility dates of the blue badge. So thank you Richard for the timely reminder particularly as the scheme is likely coming to Birmingham in the not to distant future. I have also found that for blue badge holders that register the M6 toll is also free to use. The only tolls exemptions that I had found, and used were the toll bridges across the Severn estuary, but these tolls have now been removed. John.

  32. Hi I use Euro carparts for oil and a range of stuff. For parts I try to buy Lexus but from Birmingham Lexus as they give a discount. Recently i’ve purchased lower ball joints for my LS400 from Rockauto in the States but I went for the top range at about £100 all in. Lower arm bushes were Lexus. All pulleys, waterpump, belt were Gates parts from the US too at a snip as they were on offer. One pulley was same manufacturer as original part...true might have been made to different spec but who’s to know? I’m careful of eBay and there’s a lot of cheap junk out there even by what seems to be reputable manufacturers and big distributors. Next job up will be rear brakes and I’m torn as a pair of Brembo discs and decent ceramic pads and shoes from the States even with tax and delivery are way cheaper than Lexus. For me price and quality are a balance. I need to repair probably about £2ks worth of dents, bumper damage and get the wheels done and other half has allocation for new kitchen, bathrooms etc.. 😂 I’d like to see quality standards applied to replacement parts so buyers have knowledge and choice.

  33. Lexus Swindon sell parts online: https://www.lexuspartsdirect.co.uk For expensive items you will find importing from the US cheaper than purchasing in the UK. Rockauto.com is a popular site which gives great service - you just need to make sure you don't need a European specific part.

  39. Hi everyone, so just to give you all an update I can confirm I'm now the proud owner of an LS430! I did a through check over the entire car, spending a good 45 minutes before I even test drove it. I found a number of issues that will need rectifying, but nothing too major. Considering the condition the original asking price was too much, but I was able to negotiate a very decent price for it so I was happy to take it away and use the money saved to fix it up. The first job I'll be getting done is to have a full cam belt service as it's due for one now. The car was described as having a full service history. Unfortunately this turned out to be a lie. It was serviced at a Lexus main dealer for many years. Its most recent services were done at an indy, but there is a gap in the middle with no history. According to the MOT history it was driven very little during this time. The oil looks fairly clean as do all the other fluids. Took the air box apart and the filter looks pretty new. The engine runs very nicely. Starts on the button, runs smooth and all the power seems to be there. The gearbox is very smooth just as it should be. I'll still be giving it a full service and changing out all the fluids and filters for peace of mind. The steering wheel adjustment also isn't working properly. It moves in and out but not up and down (unless I give it a little persuasion). This appears to be a common issue. Good news is I can hear the motor when I click the button, so hopefully no costly motor replacement to fix. It's also going to need wheel balancing and/or an alignment. There's some wheel wobble once you hit about 70. Other than that the car is in pretty good condition. The air suspension works just as it should. All the interior electrics work great. The stereo works properly and sounds pretty decent. The interior is in really good condition for its age. The body could probably do with a good polish, but is all good other than that. No major scratches or dings to report. The drive home was brilliant. Surprising good MPG on a run for such a large engine, and quite possibly the most comfortable and relaxing car I've driven. I sometimes borrow my Dad's Jaguar XF 3.0d. I love that car, but I honesty think this 15 year old Toyota rides better!

  40. Firstly I can't believe what you're experiencing but in a way I can. I've had 2 is300h's both 64 plate and both premium premier. The 1st one was that awful in all recpects that I got rid after 5 weeks. The 2nd one however was superb. My driving style is let's say fast. The roads up here in the North are shyte but that car never missed a beat. Never creaked or groaned. Not all is's were/are built the same I think. From my experience of having 2 identical cars yet being like chalk and cheese. I've also had a 62 plate f sport RX450h which again I drove ahem normal. Excellent build quality and no squeaks bangs crashes or groans. It's a different beast to the is300h but definitely recommended.

  42. One assumes they're waiting for an all new NX in a couple of years. I don't think this is anything that new - isn't the CT based on the previous model Prius? I haven't looked at a new RAV4 in the flesh myself, but in the other thread discussing it a member who has test driven one says it is much noisier than the NX and that the interior isn't as nice. So, you pay your money and choose. 5 year warranty and better economy, or a posher interior and a nicer looking car. For what its worth, I don't consider the current NX to be underpowered either. Certainly it is more than fast enough for me...

  46. Of course the old “won’t run over 2,500 revs” is in the list of ECU problems associated with the LS400 ECU Capacitor death. Do LS430 owners have the same Caps problems as the LS400? Water in the injectors just baffles me. LPG is turned into gas from a liquid at the Vaporiser, how could it possibly get into the Engine two cylinders which are (?) at opposite ends to each other, but not all 8 cylinders? Valve wear maybe? When were the Spark plugs last changed? Might be worth your removing the two culprits and seeing the “burn” colour after getting the Car up to temperature. You may be financially right in your thinking its for someone else to enjoy the sleuthing.

  47. There is a thread on here where the guy with a ls400 has a problem with his Radio after someone incorrectly reversed the battery polarity. Blew a fuse . Not sure if he has sorted it as asked recently, but no update. The running issues could be attributed to a couple of things. Not to denigrate your LPG person, but if he didn’t change your Vaporiser for a brand new one then I wonder if he actually serviced it. What are called heavy ends build up and affect performance. A filter change is just too much trouble and its cheaper to replace the whole Vaporiser when you consider the work element to cleaning which may tear the diaphragm. Cost under £100 but beware not getting an Air bubble in the head when putting back heater hoses etc., If you’ve not had the Throttle body off and cleaned it, then a build up of crud could be sticking the throttle body? These are my thoughts and may not be applicable to your Car or solving the problems. I would say that I’ve met less than competent LPG people in the past and so asking to replace with new, allows you to visually inspect that work has been done.

  48. I am posting this in regards to not finding this exact problem fix on the internet as of yet. I actually figured out how to fix the sunroof issue on my own by trial and error. Here it is... On my Lexus RX330 2006, I recently replaced the battery at a local tire shop. The shop stated that they hooked up a computer to the car in order not to lose the factory settings. Well... that didn't work... I ended up having to learn that the windows and sunroof would need resetting after the reinstall of the battery. Being new to this window issue, I went back to the tire company and told them what happened; they had no clue. Anyway, I learned how to reset the windows and then tried the sunroof but the sunroof was completely wacky. The controls all seemed backward and it didn't seem to close properly. I looked all over the internet and tried many different techniques but to no avail. I finally learned that with my system, there is two different controls to try as most posts inform you of one switch to work with (the open and close not tilt). In the 2006 model RX330 there is an open and close switch (one touch) and a tilt switch. I kept trying the open and close switch in many different fashions trying opening and closing the sunroof. Holding the close switch for an elongated amount of time as to let the sunroof do a full cycle actually fixed most of the problem. To my surprise the one-touch and the exact closed position was still in operable. As it turns out, holding the tilt button closed for a full cycle completely cleared the problem and now the sunroof works correctly. What I am not sure of is if the tilt switch initially would have cleared the whole problem or if you would have to do the open close switch one full cycle first then hold the tilt switch one full cycle is the correct way to do it. In any rate, it works well now. If anyone else can expand on this then others might be able to benefit from this post as well.
