  1. Having looked at the car in the link from the opening post I did notice the following from looking at the pictures. The picture of the engine bay shows rust on all the bolts along the front slam panel which given the age of the car and the salt used on UK roads may be normal but then you begin to think a little more .....what about the underside if these are on top. The pictures below are the shot from the advertisement, the other is mine at another 7 years older. Japan is kind to cars and given the choice I would buy JDM models everytime.

  2. The only thing I do is make sure its locked and keep the keys well away from the front of the house so they cannot use the signal boosters to get in and start it. Two cars ago I had a Range Rover P38 … I was hoping that someone would pinch that, unfortunately they did not … my biggest concern about anyone stealing that was them bringing it back when they found out how unreliable they were.

  4. I read that the new Lexus GT3 car is racing this week-end (today I think) should be interesting to see if the new team get anywhere. Going to search YouTube to see if there's any cover of the race.

  6. Don’t worry at 165 plus vat I will not be buying from Lexus, The “self entitled” view you speak of was the price quoted on their website based upon my part number in the SD card Off to ebay for my maps I think Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. @Cezar B could be convinced to attend if we all promise to hold our breath until we pass out unless he agrees to come 😁

  9. If we can get more than two of us coming we can have a small group and all pitch up together but we need to arrive together to get the same spot. NorthernISF and myself have agreed to meet in glasshoughton at 9.30 for a 10am arrival, if your up for joining us, or we can meet nearer the venue if it’s easier. Does someone have a marquee and some Lexus owners club signage? If so we can officially spread the word of our forum and F club and keep resale values high! The event organizers encourage this, but really there should be more than two of us! Come and join us!

  10. I saw this car online on the BCA (British car Auction) website a couple or so months ago. It caught my attention due to the full Lex history and low miles, and had it not been at their Kinross site which is 500 miles and an 8 hour drive away, I'd have been interested. Now to the current seller in Dundee, obviously a dealer from the spiel in the ad, the pro photos and the garage background. They probably picked this car up from BCA for relative peanuts. That they are trying to pretend to be a private seller makes me suspicious that they are trying to sell this without a dealer warranty and consumer protection. If that's the case, I'd walk away and avoid this one.

  13. Hey all, I'm still up for this. Do we need to let the event organisers know that there will be multiple Fs in attendance or has d someone already done that? Would be good if we could all pitch up together?

  14. The latest count is 649 cars with tickets. Who’s going to make it 650? 🚗🚗🚙🚙🚗🚙🚙🚗🚗🏎🚘 For anyone else interested attending as a visitor you can just turn up and buy tickets on the day or you can do so in advance via the www.newbyhall.co.uk website (not on commission)! There is still a little more time to register your interest if you want to bring you motor along and be stood in a field on Sunday 5th with me and Northern ISF! You can do so at the link in the top of the thread.

  16. I actually remembered last time Roger, but forgot how to connect the two items I held in my hands! I had a mild stroke 4 years ago and very ocasionally do suffer memory lapses. However, this time I did remember everything and so the GS is indeed sitting comfortably with the solar charger connected. Enjoy your upcoming holiday. Regards

  17. Yes very strange. In general most GPS system providers (including the none car manufacturers) provide free updates. There has been debate about lexus asking for a fee to change out a micro sd or dvd disc with updated map data on. Imagine paying for every iPhone update because apple deemed it so. Lexus need to show their customers some loyalty not rip them off continuously. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

  19. Thanks for all the replies folks. I am sure the NX will be enjoyed. I agree First_Lexus, there is plenty of criticism of the navigation/audio system and to my mind no Lexus I've owned has ever seemed able to compete with the other top players in this field. Bearing in mind that at some stage an NX driver is likely to need to use or adjust the system while on the move the operations are over-complicated and physically difficult to operate. I can only assume the designers expect us to set up the system each time before driving off and then leave it alone, but that is not always going to happen. The trackpad does not bother me as much as some people because I use one daily anyway but the high res screen means that targeting on an option on the media screen for example is akin to the Golden Shot. (Younger viewers please Google!). It can involve taking your eyes away from the road too long. I also find the hi-res screen to be less effective for daylight viewing especially in sunlight and some "white" roads do not show up against the background. The night screen works better for viewing, at least it seems to for me. The problem is the same as the the system in other Lexus motors, it is design over practicality and not recognising that something like the nav/audio has to be used by all sorts of people from tech savvy to non-tech. It ends up pleasing no-one.

  20. It does look excellent but as it's pre-facelift I think the price is too high. Also we should never consider the low mileage on these to be something that demands a premium. It would be interesting to see it in the flesh as photos taken inside under lights can be deceiving. Overall looks very nice though. I see the black Celsior at the dealer where I bought mine has been reduced to £5,500. Having seen it, it's absolutely beautiful, mint black paint with perfect chrome wheels. I was very tempted myself when I saw it!

  21. It looks smart, well found. I see that it's in Dundee so I'd be interested to know what it looks like underneath, especially if it's life has been spent north of the border. Or as it's low mileage then maybe it's been a garage queen and will be relatively rust free?

  24. I know a mechanic who advises against such things. The OBD socket isn't designed to have something permanently connected to it, and on some cars this can cause problems. That said the makers of these devices are still in business so I would hazard a guess that enough people are able to use them without a problem.

  25. One option would be to use a Bluetooth dongle plugged into the OBD2 port. Most of the compatible smartphone apps have the ability do show the sort of information you need like MPG, distance to zero, fuel level etc. and show it on a smart phone screen. If you have an old android smart phone sat in a drawer, then it can be resurrected with the right app as an eco-readout! You may have to put the tank capacity into the app as that data isn't available from the vehicle, but once you program it with the tank capacity and where the fuel level is reading, you can get a readout of tank capacity and miles to zero. Of course the accuracy is only as good as the information you put in, but that's really the only way to generate the information.

  26. My second car back in the late sixties was a VW Beetle😂 had no fuel gauge. It had an angled lever down by the clutch and you turned it 90 deg with your foot when it start stalling from fuel starvation, you were then on the reserve tank with a gallon left find the next garage.

  28. Hello there. I bought one in Ireland a few months back. Teriffic car. But beware, the adaptive suspension on early ones will possibly be shot on it. I have coilovers en route from USA. Control arm bushings go with age resulting in vague steering, speed vibrations and knocking. I've replaced the upper arms with pattern and will press in new febest ones that I got last week when I'm doing the shocks. All of the above let the car down and can render an otherwise fit motor as scrap if you consider lexus prices. I love mine however and I'm really looking forward to having her running like she should be. Mine is also 2007. I'm looking into reflashing transmission at dealer. The later software makes for a nicer driving experience apparently. Surprisingly noisy cabin at speed due to wind noise. This is a known and fixable issue. Check for slip in drivetrain on gear change. Motor, tranny and diff mounts can weaken. Mine are sound as far as I can tell. Pay attention when test driving. You can get carried away with its splendour if you're not used to one and miss all of the signs for above issues. Where are you based?
