  1. I will be sad to see her go. I have thoroughly enjoyed the 50,000 miles I've driven. Lovely car....

  2. 4 previous owners, bought from a small dealer in Bedford. 2006 plate, so an early 460. Had the TPMS sensors replaced/coded, heated seat switch pack replaced and a bit of bodywork touched up as part of the deal. My compromise was on the interior wood (red) which I’ve decided I can live with! Staggering amount of toys though 😎 The drive back was super smooth! A couple of steps up the comfort scale compared to my S Class which was nice. It needs a good service which I’ll do once I get a free weekend, and the glovebox is slightly loose, other than that I’m just going to waft around in it and enjoy it ! Pics once I’ve given it a proper clean and polish. Regards Jim

  3. Peter's right about the video. Even dash cameras have to blank the screen so that they don't distract the driver. You're probably not driving it correctly then. Driving hybrids is all about anticipation so that you get the most out of the regenerative braking. The 'normal' hydraulic brakes aren't really used very often and brake pads last much longer because of it.

  4. For the last 30 years all of my cars have had a sunroof and I've never opened a single one of them, preferring instead to let the aircon (and latterly the climate control) do it's job. I've also never had a leak from any of them either - maybe they only get leaky with use! I love the Celestial Black and Ivory colour combo of our car. Yes, a nightmare to keep clean but well worth it. Any passenger attempting to get in with a wax jacket would be asked to remove it first 😉 Here's my pride and joy:

  5. Hey Guys, I am loving my Lexus IS (first ever Lexus) and loving my first few months of ownership. I made a video of my car if anyone wants to give it a watch 🙂

  6. Hi All I've had my IS300h for 3.5 years under a company car lease scheme. I thought I'd post a quick review of my own observations. Having had a stream of German cars for many years I changed to the Lexus IS300h advance. Driving an auto and hybrid was a major change for me but after a few months I was very happy with my choice. The car still feels fresh as it did on day one with no fade in performance or handling. In my view, the car is the intelligent mans choice for a changing landscape with anti diesel rhetoric and ULEZ about to be rolled out. I will most likely stick with the Lexus brand as build and overall quality are my main criteria. Well done Lexus for building such a great car. My next car is likely to be another IS300h or the ES300h. Nick

  7. @Shahpor you are surprised I was gutted. The service team weren't confident from the off on a 10 year old brake pipe and I let them make the approach (I was in shock). So yes @giorgoXXI normal wear / corrosion, and yes the Lexus Extended Warranty but I'm considering another approach as of course there could be a conflict of interest? or at best they are not as interested as I am in £1300 10 hours labour according to the Lexus service bible (It took the technician about 30 mins to work it out) so £95 / hr then. It's what I was quoted at the start although I gather from the technician who did it that it actually took nearer 13 hrs !! Fair enough they didn't amend the bill. Good points @doog442 and @PRT68 I did ask the question if they could just piece out the first 6 inches" (which I might have done on a daily shopper car) and was politely told there were no straight bits long enough to do so rear of the diff so wouldn't be any saving. And they did ask if I wanted to trailer it somewhere else but in for a penny in for a pound. I bought the car with full Lexus service history and warranty in place and will sell it similar having wanted for nothing. I don't mind buying 50% off pads but wasn't compromising on this. Yep @lotusdave and @Texas I had both sides done. The nearside line is a little longer hence the slightly higher price. I disconnected the calliper / flexi at the calliper end so hadn't tinkered with the connection the other end. However I had dosed the union at the other end, as I had with all the other fixings with WD 40. If that's was dislodged any rusted steel to the point it blew out so be it. @Malc its the fun you have getting to 30mph that makes the difference. A visceral experience tingling all the senses. Hybrid / silent electric wizardry ? No Thanks !!

  8. If you clay the car prior to doing 2 coats of the wax it will last for months. If it's the double speed wax then it's a great product. The tin should last you years Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  9. Try chemical guys blackllight. Lasts for around 9 months which in my case is 15000 miles. Easy to apply and beads beautifully. After every wash just spritz with their H70? Gives a great finish

  10. Friday put my battery mower in the back, a nice easy fit to go and mow my daughters lawn as son in law had back surgery 2 weeks ago. Today cleaned the interior. A nice easy job with such a lot of room to work in.

  11. The latest software update changed it to the right and the screen display looks better once you play with the stock display settings. I kept the brightness setting on max and contrast in the middle setting.

  15. Removed seat cushion as it was giving me an electrical shock! Saving money for a new foam base! 🙂

  16. A few days ago I removed my seat cushion and I have much less electrical shocks! The cushion is off from now on and saving money to fix my seat base (the foam is a bit worn under the bum!).

  17. Welcome Derek, another one of the special breed of Lexus owners. I’m sure you will love your wheels, as most owners irrespective of model on here do. You will feel the exclusivity of your CT when you drive around looking for other CT’s. You will probably see 30 or more C220 s before you spot one.... 👍

  20. Fixed my OBD2 connector today. Was a busted wire. Now I can read the code (P0420) and reset it. Hasn't returned after a 20 mile loop so fingers crossed. Otherwise it'll be time to get underneath and see if the Y pipe or gasket are leaking.

  25. For many years I fancied a private reg to go along with my DJ name & website 'DJ51 LES'. But, it was £799 and available for well over 10 years which I didn't want to pay, then it dropped to £499 about 2 years ago. I ran vans for the last few years and thought it was not a good idea from a security point of view, probably encourage break-ins assuming there would be DJ equipment inside. Then, in February when I was looking for my Lexus, I found five RX400H SE-L's for sale around the country when I came across my current RX400H. It has had four private reg numbers in it's life, I couldn't believe that this is the original reg and I didn't have to pay for it. As soon as I saw it I thought "this is MY car......... Raveon"

  26. Hi all, Just a quick update to say that the GS went in for its first service in my ownership today and came out with a clean bill of health. The only advisory was that the rear tyres are at about 3mm, so will need replacing soon. I have been quoted £120 + VAT each for Michelin's by the dealer. So, after 8 months and 8000 trouble free miles, I can say that it is still just as brilliant as when I bought it. I was actually surprised when I realised it had been this long, but the car is so effortless that it is understandable. As usual, Lexus Reading were great from start to finish. Michael and Sue were just as nice and helpful as ever, and how's this for care and attention: When I checked the service book I saw that someone had put on a post it note to stop the ink smearing the opposite page before it had dried. As you can see from the empty boxes, this isn't something all dealers consider. It is a small thing, and I wouldn't have particularly minded if it had made a mark, but I was impressed that someone took the time to consider such a small thing.

  27. The 'button' is a round black disk about the size of a wine glass bottom. Once you have activated it - by depressing the throttle pedal as far as possible - you will know. But don't do it in a 30mph zone or a narrow country road. It provides a real power surge (and ruins the mpg stats).

  28. UPDATE: Right guys, major update due. So Lexus did eventually agree to repair the oil cooler and pipes etc. However since the repair the gearbox has not been functioning correctly. It would not go into gears easily. It would labour when shifting up and you had to press down on the accelerator for it to pop into gear. I have been driving it in manual mode for the last 12 months!! The car has been taken into Lexus Leeds on a number of occasions to try and solve the issue. However the problem persisted and Lexus UK have agreed to replace the gearbox! Great news! I pick the car up on Monday. They have also replaced the manifold. The bill in total is over £15k I believe. Glad I had warranty. Its not been an easy process but we have got there in the end!

  30. Update to strut top bearings, Got the car back today 24th May, both top bearings replaced £199 + VAT each + Fitting + VAT + Oil & Filter change. Total £879.90. I do not feel in any way ripped of in fact a massive saving from the quote from Lexus of £2500 + The car is now as it should be and I hope to get many more miles and years out of this superb car. Keith.
