  3. i think you got it spot on... Lexus pitches Luxury first in terms of how the car rides and sounds before out and out performance.. its not like parent company Toyota does not have the know how to build a raw sports sedan.. but that's not the primary philosophy of the Lexus brand.. its nature is to go about its business on the road in a smooth nature with the 3 kept to a minimum i.e Noise Vibration and harshness and i think most compare it with an M sport 3 series BMW and expect it to deliver the same driving feel.. BMW's and Audi's are performance first luxury second and Lexus the other way round. Yes they are all categorised as premium/Luxury brands but are built slightly different in terms of philosophy... to be honest i think Lexus builds premium cars and set it up to the level they know most people will enjoy spending time in up to 90% of the time in terms of Noise, vibration, harshness... the occasional blast and mind blowing handling of a BMW is impressive around corners but how many times does one subject this type of driving to their daily day to day driving to warrant a permanent harsh ride?? Lexus wins in NVH and a drive setup which makes sense for 'real world' daily driving if you ask me...

  5. Thank you! i am quite fond on the old school interior of the isf, just cant justify the cost compared with the rcf 😭 am i right to think the gsf has the better interior kit compared to the rcf?

  7. It's your car. You like it. You like it even more now. A bit of a pile on going on from the LOC members which I think is a little unfair.

  9. Not being funny, but you won't get nothing nowhere near that after an Amazon Flex route... Comparing apples to oranges... Not for nothing I mentioned it... Just how stubborn ya'll got to be to try and convince me, after trying to be as realistic as possible about the whole thing, that my car does feel and sound different than before?! Not bragging, not saying it's economically justified, or does something that improves an already fairly above the mark good all rounded vehicle, not even saying it is worth it for the aforementioned reasons... It does do something, and whatever it is, it makes the car feel a lot, and I mean a lot, better than before. (Especially if you disable the electronic nannies and try to have a bit of fun) Average tank is atm 35.9 MPG... You'll have to take my word for it...

  10. Vlad, if the plates assigned to a car you don’t need to do anything, if you put it on retention (not assigned to a car) you have to remember to renew the retention document, you used to have to retain it yearly if not assigned but I’m led to believe a retention is now valid for 5 years. If u ever put your plate on retention you need to remember the expiration of the retention as you will loose the entitlement to the number plate and have to re-buy it. As long as it’s on your car with the documents to show then you don’t need to do anything at all. enjoy it 👍🏻

  11. Everyone now is showing off! I like it though. Paul, even dirty this car looks sexy! Love it! Almost forgot, Paul, you had your number for 20 years, I have seen something on DVLA that every 10 years you need to do something, either confirm to them that you are still an owner or something between the lines, do you want what that is? Cheers!

  12. I could probably have pushed them for paying for the pads and disks as they should not have needed replacing at this mileage. However as I mentioned in my first post, it is suggestive that the caliper that was faulty was at the same corner of the car that was repaired. There is no proof either way that this caused the fault or not, but as Lexus were not questioning this I felt that me paying for the disks and pads was a fair compromise. At least now I have it fixed and a new set of disks and pads that will last my lifetime of the car. Thanks to all for your comments/suggestions.

  13. With any non-hybrid car you have a point but with the IS 300h they don't wear at the same rate. Bought mine at 40k miles and now 75k miles and still original disks and pads all round - front discs now have a slight lip but will easily pass 80k miles and probably more

  14. Kaminet. How do you get a throaty exhaust, when nothings actually changed ? You've not changed out the cats for sports cats, nor a resonator delete, nor catback system ? Placebo effect M8... In all honesty you should have had the car dyno'd before and then after.. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

  15. Mines been like this for 20yrs. These plates are my originals from my first Lexus 20yrs ago. Lol......think you’d have to alter font size and style before ANPR fails to read it and/or the police are interested/concerned with it too

  16. Why does every supplier believe that just because you have purchased a Lexus you must be loaded?!? Mine is 4th hand, cost less than a brand new Focus and has all the luxury of a er... erm.. Lexus. I asked about a tow bar.. "Have one fitted for £126" They said... oh... a Lexus.. that'll be £870 please. Same with servicing and spare parts. I get my servicing done with Nick at the local garage. He sources pukka Lexus parts from the Land of Nippon for a tenth of the price of Lexus Bolton. BTW, A (small) service nowadays means taking out the air filter and banging it on your overalls. 60,000 mile platinum sparkplugs, digital sparking system, fuel injection, computer controlled engine management system... what is there to service?

  17. Don't wish to be the bearer of bad news but the Diesel Lexus ( 220 anyway) has got a history of failing head gaskets! Hopefully this is not the case with yours but be prepared for the worst. As you have only had it 3 days then sadly I suspect it was overheating before you owned it, Did you buy it private or dealer/trader? If dealer/trader then it is not 'fit for purpose' and should be returned! How much 'homework' did you do before opting to get the 220 over the 250 say? do some searching/reading on this site concerning '220' and 'head gasket' to get upto speed with the problem. paul m.

  20. Booked it in for new front shocks and ARB bush replace with Osaka. She wallows like a whale and shocks almost not worth being there (no leaks though) So in two weeks will give her a clean inside and out and maybe get around to repairing aerial.

  21. Threaten the gits with the insurance ombudsman - you'd be surprised how this can motivate them to be less rubbish. Then once it's sorted, bin them ASAP.

  22. Not sure where this £5K difference is coming from... A 318d is a thing and the cheapest 3-series diesel - 318d SE (manual) at £32,455. Meanwhile, the cheapest IS300h is £31,900. Spec an auto box on the BMW and it's £2K more than a Lexus. 320i SE is better comparison IMO. Only £500 difference, plus has petrol engine and automatic gearbox.

  23. Hi. My only experience with MAF''s is from when I had a MG ZT diesel. I fitted a black box with the suggested pieburhg MAF unit. My car didn't like the MAF so I put a new original BMW unit in. Car worked superbly. Anything to do with a MAF unit the only response is to replace with Original Equipment. Yes they can be expensive But work out cheaper in the long run. Looks to me that cheap Chinese copy has worn out already. Bin that cheap unit as that's where it belongs.

  24. If you are looking at spending that amount of money, get on ebay right now and buy Pete's supercharged ISF and you will have the best car that this amount of money can buy. That is all. 😎

  25. I insure my Lexus with Admiral so thanks for the heads-up but my recent experience with them in relation to a family Nissan is one where their "approved" bodyshop quoted £900+ to repair hit and run damage that I managed to get done locally (and extremely well) for £300. (and we wonder why insurance is so expensive!)
    1 point
  26. In essence what your insurers would have you believe is that the paint spraying robots at Lexus applied the paint incorrectly to one part of the car when the vehicle was built. Bizarrely when your car was hit the part of the car that had poorly applied paint was the only part of the car that was damaged and then subsequently repaired. Really???? As the man said 'there's more chance of Elvis coming back riding Shergar and being struck by lightning!' A more plausible explanation was that the humans carrying out the repair working under pressure to keep costs down skimped on preparation and/or applying the paint. My RX is a year older than yours and I have no paint problems whatsoever and I would gladly buy another. RXs sold in the UK come from a factory that has been rated number one in the world for quality (number two is a Toyota plant in Japan and number three is the Lexus plant in Canada). Couple the award winning factories with the fact that Lexus consistently win awards for the quality of their cars and I doubt very much that a poor paint finish on a car would have got past inspection at the factory. I'd suggest taking your case to the insurance ombudsman and the VBRA (assuming the repairers were members) And finally can Banwell and Associates be independent when they are paid by Admiral? Good luck

  27. Admiral often do not receive good reviews.Time to move, methinks!

  28. Of course you should - your next one may never be hit so the problem won't arise again. My car is also a 2013 (63 plate) and shows no such problem. Just be sure to change insurers when you change car.

  29. Sounds more like your insurance company's approved bodyshop trying to shift the blame elsewhere lol

  30. My RX450H is 9 years old and has covered almost 100,000 miles. It’s paint is, with the exception of swirl marks, as good as it left the factory. The bumpers haven’t peeled, even where I’ve got a bit close to a wall... Sounds to me, like an insurance company being an insurance company and talking a load of nonsense.
