  2. Oh really? I didn’t realize thanks chaps! I’ve usually got 2 or 3 in but it can go in fits & starts - extremes of temperature sees more in though definitely! i hesitate to post about their results without they’re permission & it could be seen as advertising. What I would say is keep an eye on my sites as prices of my new ones are dropping a fair bit as soon as I finish publishing them that is!! i did ask Steve about advertising on here but prices were very too high for a one man workshop!!! all the best Richard

I believe they are OEM, and I recall when I took car for inspection a few weeks back, they said having had LS400 with KYB shocks on is never the same as going for original and they have replaced a number of aftermarket shocks when quite new because they made ride not at all good.. They did say it is not cheap to do it right. So bill was £735 - that also included fitting of new stabiliser bushes, which were starting to go. Each shock was £202 + VAT. Not cheap, but with suspension and control arms my preference is for OEM. On way home tonight I could feel the back end shocks as being not too good (on some speed humps), but I think I can live with that for rest of year, and then look at what needs to be done. Also asked about the cambelt (now on 60K) and was told not to worry about that for a while yet. One other thing with new shocks was noticeable lowering of road noise on some of the cruddier motorway surfaces along the M4, not as quite as being in a field with only the noise of butterflies and whispering grass, but will allow my wife to make herself heard more clearly when telling off for undertaking (as i was filtering left off the M5 coming south to go towards Wales last weekend), DOH!

  7. I changed jobs just before Christmas, 36 Mile, country lanes, then mainly smart motorway and some road work zone. This morning the traffic conditions must have been hybrid ideal as managed to break the 70 mpg barrier, just kept to the same speed as the trucks (even went past a few). Only added 5 mins onto my journey over normal. Normal average speed is around 40mph, today it was 38! Quite impressive for a 2.5l petrol!

  10. A quick shout for the Rustbuster Epoxy Mastic 121 mentioned in the magazine report. Had two exposed rust spots near the rear jacking points on my LS430 four years ago and the mastic on top of rust converter is still intact. I believe the Rustbuster rust converter is phosphoric acid in a latex solution rather than just the acid. I have also used that but it does need a protective coat of something on top.

  13. The IS is a brilliant car, for all the reasons given here! As for the dealership experience, it varies greatly. My local lexus Cambridge are brilliant, and can't really fault their service, great every time and they always seem to try and do everything they can to make you happy. However, I've dealt with two other dealerships, Hatfield and Edgware Road. Hatfield were not friendly and seemed lacking in knowledge of the cars. Edgware Road are so so, but seemingly not very interested in post sale problems, felt like after the sale they just want to wash their hands with you, so I would avoid Edgware Road, Cambridge is the best by far from my experience.

  14. Definitely. The car will handle so much better on Cross Climates all round and be so much safer. Do you really want to compromise the safety of your family for the sake of a relatively small amount of money.?

Looks like AIS will pick it up again as it rounds Yemen into the Red Sea looking at the other vessels in that area - from the speed that should be about 5 days from the last reported position - so around the 6th June - just worked that out from a map and looked at MarineTraffic and it's scheduled to be at the Suez Canal 9th June 18:00 UTC but should be showing position at it goes up the Red Sea

  18. I don't think there's any particular knack to driving with a CVT. They are just so smooth and easy to use. In my experience, a lot better than the old style auto.

  19. I used to use Jenolite then waxoyl. I use POR 15v metal ready first, it leaves a zinc phosphate coating, so a bit more advanced than just phosphoric acid. This still leaves some areas that do not look treated, so I paint them with Vactan, its a rut converter in a vinyl acrylic solution so seals the area too.   21. Warmer weather has made quite a big difference. I did Southampton to Bristol last week - mixture of stop start traffic and fast motorway, air con on My usual commute is 14 miles, but mostly uphill on the way, down on the way back - usually just above 50 in the morning and 60+ in the afternoon

  22. Hello all, 1st post as a now, new owner. Mid May, I drove past Lexus Croydon, and saw a Sonic Titanium RX450h in the sun, popped in and came away with one, a 2016 / 09 Luxury edition, 14k miles, cream/brown interior, Pan Roof, What a car, Am presently in Switzerland, having driven about 2k miles across Europe, I have only ever owned Mercs, and I can say, so far Lexus really beat them hands down. Supremely comfortable and spacious, fully loaded, cruises along and for a v6 not bad mileage either. And everywhere I have been since I bought it, it never fails to turn heads and receive comments. Buy one, you will not be disappointed. Only problem I have, is my clients now think I am charging them too much !!

  23. Hi, as I'm in the the same league looking for this shape RX, I found it ever so difficult to find a premier at a cost which I didn't want to part with. Today morning I managed to secure a deposit on a used approved one in NI, so looking forwards to pickup on Sat and guess what.. I was going through the video and pictures and it don't have air Suspension 😝

  25. I understand, from Lexus UK themselves, that they are working on it but unsure of the timescale. Someone, somewhere mentioned September 2019 as being the announcement date but time will tell.
