  2. Hi Herbie, Guy I spoke to at Lexus, Glasgow, knew i had a discount card. If i was going for the full 110K service with hybrid check (£275.00) I would have qualified for the 10% discount so I'm really not sure why I would not qualify for the discount off the Hybrid check only (£69.95)?. I'll query them on Tuesday....

  4. And driving into work this morning, the RC reminded me of all the reasons why the IS put a smile on my face every time I got into it, only more so. It really does make it worthwhile getting up in the morning. Just love the car....

  5. In general terms no, because you are assuming that the only type of driving to care about is fast driving on country lanes, closed roads or tracks. Why isn't the way a car handles the cut and thrust of a busy motorway important to those who care about driving? Why isn't the way the car handles pot-holed side roads and slow traffic queues important to those who care about driving? Those are the situations most people face day-to-day whether they care about driving or not. You don't have to be a sports car worshipping petrol-head to care about driving and some online car reviews focus on these other aspects more these days. I've never bought into the concept that you have to be a sports car fan to care about driving, because I'm not a fan of sports cars and I love driving. I really dislike the Top Gear style reviews and the way that a lot of the car magazines seem to think that the sports trim is the only trim of interest in a model range, to be honest I'm far more interested in whether the ones at the luxury end of the range can provide a good compromise between comfort and handling or not. That doesn't mean I don't care about driving. The problem with your statement is that it is dismissive and wrong.

  7. There is a problem on the older screen filters in that they mark easily. In the US this was treated as a warranty issue but in the UK it seems to be a bit hit and miss depending on your dealer. However you can buy the replacement filter with trim for around £40 from a dealer. Part number is 86134-53030

  8. This. And given the potential financial disaster it would be for Halfords if they got this wrong, I'd be willing to bet they are pretty careful.

  9. sound advice from @Herbie This is the adaptor cable you might need https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SATA-Power-to-MOLEX-Convertor-Cable-CABLE-2-/390504208060?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10 You might need to consider where you will mount the SSD inside the case. You can either buy a mounting kit like this or just use a couple of double-sided adhesive pads to stick it somewhere convenient. Finally, if you don't want to reinstall Windows and all your programs, you can use something like http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx to clone your existing drive to the new SSD However, I would say that the full re-install would be the preferred option to get the full benefit of the upgrade.

  10. White... Every day of the week 🙂 exhaust trim not being replaced on red one... I am fairly sure these trims just aren't available anymore. Lexus Cheltenham gave me £300 off an extended warranty in exchange for one side of exhaust trims that were 10 years old. The other side I gave away before I realised their true value. You can get copies from the States but they look odd. That and you want to put an aftermarket exhaust on it anyway 🙂

  12. I think you are spot on. I also think it is important to drive the individual car you are considering. In the 80s I had a Golf GTI. My father ordered a golf GX which ostensibly had the same seats. Unfortunately VW had 2 supplier's for seat foam and whilst mine were great his were like sitting on rocks!

  13. Yeah I do. There's too much at stake for them to get this wrong. I can believe that it may have been done incorrectly once or twice which would account for the horror stories but it would only take one such event for them to make damn sure it didn't happen again for fear of the liability.

  14. Which dealership? It's possible that the person you spoke to doesn't know about the Gold Member discount, so have a look in the relevant section of this website to see if your dealer is listed as taking part in the scheme and if they are, press them about it. Having said that, it's £59 on the Lexus website but I don't know if that's up to date or not. It should be, because you can actually book a hybrid health check through the website itself, as you'll see if you follow this link: https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/hybrid-health-check/#hero

  15. Highly unlikely that the Lexus dealer service crew would do all that anyway. People don't understand a "Dealer service" is an oily rag/stamp the book job. An "Owner" service is where you actually look at things.

  16. Was the cruise control system activated when it occurred? If it was not activated and the light wasn't on on the dash then I'd say it's probably not related to the cruise control system but who knows. Since this is clearly a safety issue I would suggest taking it to a specialist and having them check all of the things mentioned by @BachelorDays.

  17. An accident is an unforseen event. What you are experiencing is carelessness, which comes under the banner of "driving without due care and attention." You ignore the fact at your own peril Vlad. Report the offender(s) or relocate if you can.

  18. Lol, so got my OBD2 £5 eBay connector thing so I could see how the coolant temp was behaving Coolant how up to 90 before game kick in.. normal? I'm so excited, I think I was over cautious of the engine literally getting so hot you could feel the heat when you step out the car. And ERM, The reason for the middle fans not working was because I had the directional setting set to clear the window. My girl moved it to point at your face after she asked "have you tried this" She's never gonna live this down [emoji28] On another note, 70 miles from £30 fuel.. is that normal? Also, 0 -60 in 13.5 seconds... Faaaaaking hell it's a tad slow. Very comfy tho Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk

  19. Happens once every two years. Bravo! I'm sure if it was an ECU issue it would surface more often and for more people. So probably not this. Problem with the pedal/pedal assembly/wire? No harm in a visual around the pedal and under the bonnet. Cruise control switch et al. The "et al" includes the clock spring. Biggest issue is - how will you know you've fixed it, except if you find something obviously out of place?

  20. Collected the car, great drive home, one slight issue, aircon not working properly. Oh well, that’s what a warranty is for.

  21. Matt the Red LC500 is my car, I have used Ultimate Finnish for my past two cars, i don't own a GS-F. https://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/car-care-blog/new-car-protection/lexus-rc-f-born-on-fuji-speedway-protected-at-brands-hatch/https://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/car-care- blog/new-car-protection/lexus-lc-500-v8/?utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks I have been very happy with not only the result of the car but they're expertise and honesty when it come to the protection they advise. I asked for the seats to be protected in my RC-F, they had already quoted me a price for the car and seats but when i went to pick the car up they told me that the seats already had protection on them, which they could have easily had still charged me and i would have been nun the wizer. Mention my name and car and you may get 10%off, or they might add 20% on.lol.

  22. Are you sure? The LC500 is definitely @wendle's car. I wasn't aware he'd got himself a GS-F too!

  23. The more expensive the vehicle then the higher the value of the % depreciation you loose just by driving it off the forecourt. Generally speaking vehicles can loose up to 40% of the value in the first 12 months, it varies across different makes/models. Personally that's too big a chunk of change that I couldn't justify 'loosing' these days.

  24. And this was the point i made either a few threads up or in another thread about when it comes to "Real World" driving and road conditions, Lexus cars are setup and designed to handle majority of those conditions in terms of noise vibration harshness (NVH) when compared to other competitors.. but yet still a UK/European magazine reviewer will bash the ES300h claiming its noisy under full wide open throttle acceleration which lets be honest is about 10% or less in anyone's day to day driving 80 to 90% of normal driving is spent within city urban areas with speed limits or cruising on the motorway in a fuel saving gear ratio .. tell me which 2.0 litre 4 cylinder engines from any of these German brands is not noisier and sounds agricultural under acceleration? they fail to absorb the benefits of the hybrid system which makes sense in city/ urban style driving . majority of most people driving around in diesel cars are not even motorway drivers where one actually reaps the benefits of a diesel engine...

  25. I think you might find this is not too uncommon, and has been the case for many many years / decades on the vast majority of new cars and marques the poor dealers and their staff have to live you know Malc

  26. Give him a document in English (or email him) which states "When parking car you must ensure that Hand brake is applied and Vehicle is left in Gear or Park position and Wheels are pointing to the Kerbside" Address it (to him) Sign it, date it and give him a copy and keep a copy for your records upon which you have written that he was handed a copy on a particular date. If he complains about your action ,simply tell him "that`s what we do in UK to protect our assets" Good luck.

  27. Just to close-off this post and inform anyone who may encounter the same issue, I have now resolved it. Turns out it's an easy DIY job. Retract the door aperture surround seal to expose the headlining edge, remove the passenger grab handle and sunshade mount. It is then possible to get a hand into the location where the fixed and flexible pipes meet to rejoin. The GS300 fights on to live another day!

  28. Glad there are others sharing such a positive experience. I had to have my GS at a workshop as an UBER driver slightly hit the side of the front bumper when my car was parked on the main road (luckily I witnessed the incident) - so the driver admitted full liability and through the insurance I was given a replacement car for a week and it was Jaguar XF 2018 - The car looks great from outside but the moment I stepped inside, it was a reminder how much I wanted to be back with my Lexus and was missing it awfully. Quality interior of the Jaguar was disappointing - too much plastic around. The engine (2 Litre diesel) had a lot of punch (too much in my opinion) but too much for my liking as the rear tyres were spinning like crazy from standing at traffic lights and I was not racing and the engine sound was dreadful (diesel, what can you expect). So, again Lexus gives you the great power but in a much more control way, it is more linear power and gradual, which is exactly what you want for such a big car, not trying to skidd from still position like the Jaguar... Just goes to say how special Lexus is.
