I have been to collect my SC today, and after a 210 mile drive home, I have to say I am impressed. Very comfortable on the motorway and, if the on board system is to be believed, I averaged 32.2mpg. I haven't re-brimmed the tank, so that figure hasn't been checked, but it is not bad for a steady 75 cruise up the M5 followed by a stop start crawl up the M42. The car has a full Lexus history until 2 years ago but since the June 2017 MOT has done less than 1,600 miles. It was serviced last week and the cam belt/water pump were done, so it should be good to go. My only minor quibble is that it has 4 different tyres on it, one brand new Falken, one Pirelli with only a few miles on it and two different Dunlops both of which are down to about 4mm.1 point

I love my LS430. What more could you want in a car? I thought I might like a 460 eventually, but Haylands experience, detailed on this forum, put me off. So after 4 years I am replacing my car with . . . drumroll . . . another LS430. At an outrageous price! Some of you may have seen this already: https://www.stellarmotorcompany.co.uk/used-cars/lexus-ls-430-4-3-4dr-bolton-201905228219778 They have offered £3k as a trade-in, although no doubt they will chip that when I get there next week. So not at all the cheap option. But we only live once. Jon1 point

Thank you. I am over the moon with it 😀 The wiper mechanism was classed as 'wear and tear'. I argued it but they wouldn't budge and in the end Lexus Bristol replaced the mechanism at 'cost' which was about £100. I just didn't have the time to pursue it. The heater was rather annoyingly put down as 'wear and tear' on the warranty claim form by the incompetent service advisor who is no longer there. The warranty company rejected it and then it was an uphill struggle from then on. They sent out an assessor who together with the service advisor swore blind that it was quiet, but it wasn't. I would have pursued it but the GSF came up.1 point

We sold our 2011 Facelift IS250 SE-L Nav with 110000 miles on the clock 2 weeks ago. We bought it 9 months old with 19000 miles as an ex Lexus car. Engine and electrical wise it was faultless. The only issues we had were the wiper mechanism snapped and the heater motor started to become nosey. Lexus wouldn't cover either with their extended warranty which was very frustrating but these were minor issues, in what was a lovely car. Much more reliable than my friends German counterparts. The only reason why we sold it was because I fancied a V8 before everything became electric 😂1 point

Looks a very nice SC but anything above 30 mpg confirms to me that you aren't driving it correctly. 😉1 point

Thanks all for your inputs. New falkens fitted , was very good price plus the steering wheel vibration is now gone.1 point

The Stellar Car company used to be Moses Gate Car Sales. They had a Lex I liked the look of but after I read this online (link below), I was put off even going to look at the car. They seem to have a very bad rep... I have no connection and of course, these bad reviews may just be fake from their competition.... but as RoyofRovers says, proceed with caution. https://www.cardealerreviews.co.uk/dealership/moses-gate-car-sales-bolton-lancashire-england1 point

This Company has only been registered in the last 18 months or so and started to advertise the assets of a Company which operated out of Bolton and whose name I cannot recall. I would be very wary of buying from them. They are not an authorised Lexus Dealer. I would scrutinise the MOT history, for which we need the reg no. I would wish to speak to the last owner Buyer beware,1 point

I agree... I have used the Lexus satnavs in the 400h, 450h and now the nx300h and they have always taken me to my destinations (in the UK, but also in various countries across the Europe) without fuss or problem. They work well as a basic satnav... once you have got used to the menu layout and options. However, I also agree that if you are looking for additional features, current and accurate POIs etc., they are not as good as a TomTom or a Garmin.1 point

I don't know I've used the Tunnel a few times and it all seems a bit soulless too me the adventure on the ferry ticks all my boxes for the start of the true holiday break 😉 Malc1 point

drive every time. a relaxing and purposeful adventure, taking your time and experiencing weird and wonderful hotels and B&Bs AND amazing scenery usually Cost of taxi to airport or parking fees, time to get there and several hours maybe for check in and maybe delayed flights too ......... and back ! No contest really coz there's lots of cross channel options. My holiday starts as soon as I'm on the ferry at Dover, imagining it's a mini cruise, the start of the holiday And if you try flying Ryanair or EasyJet you might just get huge problems at some time ( or lucky if not ) ............ my travel agency business will NEVER book pax on either of these two incredible ( for all the wrong reasons ) airlines Just take your amazing car and enjoy the drive around and across mainland Europe and further afield maybe ....... it's a wonderful experience ENJOY your car at all times Malc1 point

Thank you guys for the answer and advice. Guess I will have to change the bad habit of parking in neutral... but I am glad its not a fault. (But Lexus should change the message displayed as it says " ... Low Charge when "Not" in N", but I was actually in N... confusing message.)1 point

As Jason above says. Never leave the car in neutral. It is the only gear position where the engine once stopped cannot restart, and hence charge the HV battery. If this occurs the 12 volt battery can also become discharged as this is charged from the HV battery. If the HV battery become discharged below a cirtain point the engine cannot start as the HV battery is used for this purpose, and will require transport to the dealer to recharge it. Having the AC on in neutral will discharge the HV battery very quickly. John.1 point

Hi and welcome to 300h ownership. If you leave the car in N with the ignition on it will discharge the traction battery. If you are parking up, even for a short period then leave the car in P, that way if the traction battery discharges the engine will cut in and recharge it. Hope that helps a little Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Pretty much! However, I'd like to think that with the prices Lexus charge, they use a proper mechanic's stethoscope to listen out for any abnormalities. 😄1 point

I live 'up north' so can't suggest anywhere but that place looks as good as any. Before you spend any money just check the fuses and connectors - with the switch showing no signs of life it may well be something as simple as that.1 point

136,000 miles and counting (IS250 auto 2012). Picked it up in 2014 for £17K with 6,000 miles on the clock (and absolute steal IMHO). It hasn't missed a beat so far. Apart from routine servicing and tyres the only additional costs I've incurred are new discs and pads at 90K miles and a couple of windscreen excesses. I'm now rapidly heading towards a depreciation cost of 10p a mile - compared with around £2 a mile for the original owner! I had been pondering about changing to something newer next year but I'm beginning to think the smart move might be to just keep on going until I'm faced with a bill I can't stomach (probably the exhaust in a couple of years time). I might even make it to 200,000 miles before that happens. Hard to believe that the car has been (the equivalent of) round the world nearly 6 times without any mechanical problem whatsoever. A remarkable piece of engineering.1 point

I envy you guys who drive to Europe - I have never done it and don't know how I would cope!1 point

Driving wins every time. My wife and I have driven from home in Preston, Lancashire, to and around Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and lots of other places too. We never have any hotels booked in advance so we can just please ourselves where we go and how long we stay - been doing it since 1991 and never had to spend a night in the car because we failed to get a hotel One of the more unusual hotels we've stayed in is Hotel Jested in the Czech town of Liberec - it's at the top of a mountain in a television transmission tower!1 point

It's not a topic related to lab tests, the main reason (and not the only one) because hybrids make good mpg is regenerative braking, every time you need to diminish your speed kinetic energy is recovered and stored in HV battery pack to be used later on instead of being wasted, so even a unaware of hypermiling techniques driver may obtain better mpg.1 point

I've sold my F30 320d for the same reason - ULEZ! And that it was hitting 100k miles. Just got the Gs450h a few days ago and i'm in love. Whole different world. They're amazing cars! MPG won't be as good as the diesel but that v6 engine OMG!1 point

Isn't this the one? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Lexus-04-13-07-14-Trunk-Liner-Boot-Mat-PZ434C1300PJ-/251801806660?hash=item3aa08ea744 I got a non OEM one for my GS from these people: https://www.bootsliners.co.uk/lexus-is-2013-onwards-boot-liner.html much cheaper and actually better with the non-slip centre section. Looks like there are two versions, one for hybrid and one standard - not sure how Lexus have just one official one - must be compromised for the IS200t.1 point

Sorry to read this, not what I want to see. 😢 Must admit I’ve taken the plunge this service, and not booked the car in with Lexus. Will be getting a full service from Lee P at SRD in West Sussex. Lee and his team as most will know have done a lot of work on my car including the supercharger install. Not only did I feel the costs were excessive for the actual parts/work involved when dealing with Lexus, I also had zero confidence in the technicians. Had phone calls asking how things worked, asked for parts prices which they wouldn’t provide etc. I know Lee and his guys will baby my car, they are all likeminded petrol heads who really enjoy working on something unique and different. In other exciting news, car is going in Monday for a service, and for the MoTeC guy to start developing a full standalone ECU package. Should be fun! 😎1 point

While I was in the dealership I noticed a brand new is300 which had a bumper protector fitted. I like the look so bought one. My bumper had a few marks & scratches so it covered them up to. It is an OE part so fits properly. Ed1 point
