  1. Yes, it was quite demanding. Sorry to hear you didn't get anywhere through small claims. For me the whole process took over a year- mainly because he took as long as he possibly could to respond at every stage- really pushing deadlines. I think he was hoping he'd wear me down and I'd give up. The questioning by the judge was also quite rigorous but luckily I had my ducks in a row. Had he turned up he might have been able to fight me off, but after dragging me 150 miles north to Burnley for the hearing he didn't materialise which made me even more determined. He knew about the date so unless he has some very good reason for not turning up he's on the hook for the judgement (which amounts to what I paid our friend Richard in Northampton to do the job properly, the cost of a Lexus diagnostic, and my court fees). I want to give a mention to Richard of hybridbatterysolutions.co.uk. Great service from him and the car ran perfectly after he'd refurbished the battery- anyone who's had cause to deal with him will know what I mean.

  2. OK just done this and seems a few like me are interested in having it. In this method I did cut 4 wires to disable the folding option from the factory button as I didn't want the car contradicting the kit. I done all from the drivers door and would have been easy if there Was some info on wire colours. Here is how I fitted mine for anyone interested 1 red wire + connected to thick yellow wire on plug for window motor. (be sure to have fuse) 2 black wire - connected to thick white with thin black line wire on window motor. 3 yellow wire acc+ connected to very fine grey wire on window switch panel. (confirm wire goes live with ignition using test lamp) note if you don't connect acc wire your mirrors will fold when you drive off and car auto locks. 4 green wire door open signal + connected to thick blue wire on door lock. 5 blue wire door lock signal + connected to thick red wire on door lock. 6 orange mirror close + connects to two fine pale green wires on window switch 7 brown mirror open + connects to two fine red wires on window switch. The other two wires on the modual I didn't use but they can be connected if you choose to keep the fold button operational on the panel. I left them off. Note there are more than two pale green and red wires on the window switch. A test light is required to locate the needed wires. With the ignition on probe the red wires one at a time and operate the folding mirrors. When opening mirrors two of these should go live, (they stay live for about 10 seconds after the mirrors have stopped) cut these from the switch and join them (loom ends) to the brown wire. Repeat above step to find the two fine green wires for closing mirrors, cut these from the switch and join them (loom ends) to the orange wire. Job done, play and smile☺️

  4. I just received my Vland led headlights this week, after having installed the Vland led taillights about 2 weeks ago. No question, these look much better IRL than many of the images suggest. I will be installing these in the next couple of weeks when I'm on leave.

  5. Just a quick update, got my car fitted with 4 new michelin cross climate today. Car feels so much grippier and smooth. Definitely it has made my cabin noise less. Running them fronts 34psi and rears 36psi. But still road noise is there when driving 40mph and above. Found the front passenger rubber in the lower frame has a small crack/tear, guess that is whats causing excess road noise. Going to get them replaced with new ones by lexus. Hopefully that should cure the cabin noise.

  6. Looks nice and I particularly like the red of these earlier cars. The later ones seem only to have a burgundy red until the 4th generation which again is available in a lighter red. Of course everybody loves a bargain and most people have a budget they don't wish to exceed. However, finding one of these cars is not like looking for a Mondeo where there is so much choice at any given time. If you seriously like a RX450h you have seen and it checks out fine and price is reasonable I suggest you go for it. I am still kicking myself for missing out on a 2015 RX450h Premier which was about 2K more than I wanted to pay. It was the same silver as the Premier I went on to buy subsequently but the car I missed out on had the wood trim package including heated and part wood steering wheel and adaptive cruise control plus it had the all cream interior I liked. I told the Lexus Dealer just before he closed that I wished to think it over over night and would contact them the next morning. To be fair the dealer had said somebody else had expressed an interest in it (but this can be a ploy to make a sale), Anyway, when I responded the next morning I was told the car had been sold. Thereafter, I found that there were very few cars that had the same spec and internal and external colour I wanted. It took about another 2 months to source a car that came near to the one I lost but lacked several features. Even having bought my car I continued for a further couple of months to search all adverts for Silver Premiers but none matched the one I lost. Just my experience.

  7. Had mine for 6 years and covered 40,000 miles. Not had any problems, not even a light bulb. OBC shows 35mpg over entire 57,000 miles covered.

  8. If the Bosch aerotwin retrofit are like the ones I tried on my Corrado, the universal connector looked utter sh1te. The cheaper eBay ones looked way better and worked perfectly. No idea what the denso ones look like though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  9. Yes, it looks good Darius, I like it. I think it's most likely that you didn't get any replies to your first question because no one knows the answer 🙂

  10. Well took the wife to have a look at the car ,it was better in the flesh deep metalic red new tyres just had big service . Spent two hours going through everything with the sales guy he was very knowledgable .it was on a posh farm unit inspected under flouresant lights and then out in sun checked underneath all under protection panels unmarked .the entertainment rear system bluetooth head phones were in there plastic wrapping still in centre consul unmarked .sales guy took us out for a long test drive shopping between me and the wife .it was almost silent inside and couldn't tell when it was using the engine or battery unless we bought up the display .wife fell in love with it .so hence we have taken the plunge and put a deposit down will be trading our old car in which owes me nothing .total figure to pay will be £13950 ,it will be the wife tootle about play thing doing about 2k a year mileage going to proberly keep for 3-5 years .the only problem I've foreseen for the future is getting the next car after this that will compete .The car snob factor is starting to rear its ugly head . To put it in perspective I said I've see a hybrid rav 4 for the right money low miles .and got ummm no thank you lol. One last thing is the stereo system is the best I've heard in a car that hasn't been modified .ill post up pics when we get it on the drive way within the week.

  11. Whether or not it was me that Phil (Newbie1) saw on the A22 south of Uckfield, I discovered soon afterwards that I'd been driving around for two months with an expired MOT. Whoops. Good news: after 21½ years and 159,000 miles the car passed - with no work and no advisories. I'm happy.

  14. Nice little slide show, interesting to see lawyers poking their noses in with LexisNexis. As the commentary says ' shows what can be achieved with enough effort, resources and application' that about sums it up for me. I was driving around East coast USA in early 90's on luxury barges, they were really awful, and made me appreicate why I should never complain about having a Vauxhall Cavalier 1.8 GS back home, which was more luxurious (certainly underpowered), but when I tried pushing the envelope in a USA barge, ie. doing more than 65mph, I felt like I was about to lose my life on any bend on the Interstates, where as the Vaux GS would feel stable at 110mph (where it ran out of oomph).

  15. "Should only work with the car stationary, perhaps even only in Park." The handbrake light needs to be ON for the display to show video ( gearbox not required to be in P ) but even so when vehicle moves and a VSS signal is sent to multimedia unit picture will close down. paul m.

  16. Didn't read this earlier but you don't need a heat gun A hairdryer will work safely, takes a little longer. Its pretty quick on Lexus paint as I believe the self healing clearcoat is activated by heat. This is what I did on my son's car. You need to do it within a week otherwise the marks become permanent over time. Car wasn't even washed, just warm water in a jug used to soften the bird poo, wiped away with QD and then hairdryer. Took less than 5 minutes I've done this to multiple cars now with no issues. It will not damage the paint as the paint gets no hotter than on a warm sunny day

  17. PCM. If found out that switch was there early on. Why Lexus don't put it out the way beats me. It's definitley on. Herbie. While following your suggestions I decided to have a more in-depth look at one of the sensors. When I opened it up I discovered on of the gold coloured springs had some decay. While quite difficult to see I used some abrqasion to clean in. I probably missed it on the last clean. Once put back on the car everything was perfect. Once again thanks for everyone's input. Cheers

  19. I suspect the dealer thinks any claim for "slight play" might be refused under the "wear and tear" exclusion on the warranty (para 2.2) as the pump hasn't actually failed.. They're happy to take your money directly, of course. 😉

  20. 1) The limits for the renewal of a genuine Lexus warranty are 140,000 miles and 10 years. There are third-party warranties, of course, which may differ. 2) I'm not sure you can take out a Lexus extended warranty without a Lexus service history. If you have this then I'd ask the dealer about taking out a warranty. However, I'm sure they're very aware of the possibility of people doing as you suggest and doubt they'd fall for any fraudulent claims! You wouldn't expect a house insurer to pay out if you took out a policy after your house burnt down. 3) The warranty lasts for 2 years, unlimited mileage and is then renewable up to the limts in 1) above. It does require the car to be serviced by Lexus during the warranty period, of course. At £995 for an RX450h I think the 2-year Lexus warranty is a great deal. They picked up a leaking aircon pipe on a recent MOT (cost included in the warranty) and it was fixed within a week without quibble and at no cost to me. The bill to Lexus was £840. Over the last three years I've also had a new front caliper (seized), new steering column (slight clunk), new oil cooler and new radiator (both with slight leaks), all identified by Lexus and sorted without issue.

  22. you know what really makes the difference? what makes this make/model stand out above the german companycarmarket? when driving it it feels just special, exclusive, different. when looking at it it just looks special, like a study made it into production, from every angle there is a different view when you take a friend for a spin you see them thinking, looking, trying to understand what is going on underneath the bonnet you like or loathe the looks, the grille the interior, dash. the Lexus is not mere traffic not just transport going from A to B it is a car that you have to discover, experience and every time i drive off i find it interesting, fun, i think of ways to improve performance, efficiency etc. even after 6k km i still discover new things it is my car, my Lexus i like driving it like watching it ( oh oh i hear violins playing maybe a bit over the top with this love letter haha)
