  2. I have found a few body kits / bumper skirt kits that really modernise the gen 2 RX/Toyota Harrier, and bring it up to date. The only problem I seem to be having is all these kits seem to be big money and only available in Japan or Malaysia. Does anyone know if the kits in the pictures can be bought anywhere in the UK or in the EU at least? Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

  3. Not sure it's anything to do with the light's drainage but simply the run-off from the boot seal channel. I simply wipe down after each wash. Lots of Sahara dust in there this week!

  4. OK, thanks - however that was a different car with possibly different headlamp settings. As we have a note from Toyota France regarding driving I'm hoping that will convince the guy when I go for the CT (MoT in France) which I will do before anything else. Also hoping for Lexus France to come back to me. I did try looking up part numbers but I can't as I don't have an LHD VIN. We live in hope 🙂

  6. Would it be ok to agree to meet on the very first row of parking spaces as you come into the services, so basically a left and then left again as you enter? Easy to spot others as you come in. I'll most likely be there from like 8/8:15 as I'll probs grab a hot/ cold drink (weather dependent) 🙂

  7. Thank you - but as you will see from my original post I knew that the headlights do not need changing for driving in France as a tourist but I need to know if they need changing for registering the car in France. I have emailed Lexus/Toyota in France - just waiting for their reply David

  10. Even the service battery is 'special' and expensive I read in a search going backaways. It's a deep discharge battery. Someone replaced original with slightly greater capacity and much cheaper one but it soon failed. It would be useful to know if anybody had used a cheaper replacement that had proved satisfactory over reasonable time. Don't be shy to admit LOL.

  12. Your car may be old enough to qualify for Lexus essential care. Basically reduced price servicing for older cars, but done by Lexus main dealers. https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/lexus-essential-care/ Also, won’t pay I can relate to but can’t pay?! Did you not consider servicing costs when you purchased the car? What if something needs replacing? I hope whatever you do your wallet remains unbruised. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. I think ours was about £580 back in February. That's with business cover for both of us, courtesy car, max. NCB (protected) for both of us etc., etc. The only thing I didn't take is legal cover as we have that through my union. Policy is with Ageas if I remember right, through A-Plan brokers.

  14. Think I only need a few minor mods to get my car to this state of tune.....

  15. Good news! Mine also passed 3 weeks ago with no problems.

  16. Phew! Passed the MOT yesterday with no advisories. Tried a new MOT place rather than the usual Ford dealership (they didn't send me a reminder this year and I'd fogotten how close it was to expiry) and expected one unusual issue may cause a fail, but passed. The guy who tested took half the time I usually expect and charged less. When I said to him before the test I'm hopeful it will pass as a French trip is planned, he said "of course it will pass - its a Lexus" Told me he had had an LS430 in the past, and what a Car! Too hot to go for a twenty mins drive before the test even though the A/C working, so emisions shall we say were "iffy".

  17. Don’t forget you got electric AC compressor and it requires special oil. AC is one of those special things that are different compared to a non-hybrid cars.

  19. Well took the wife to have a look at the car ,it was better in the flesh deep metalic red new tyres just had big service . Spent two hours going through everything with the sales guy he was very knowledgable .it was on a posh farm unit inspected under flouresant lights and then out in sun checked underneath all under protection panels unmarked .the entertainment rear system bluetooth head phones were in there plastic wrapping still in centre consul unmarked .sales guy took us out for a long test drive shopping between me and the wife .it was almost silent inside and couldn't tell when it was using the engine or battery unless we bought up the display .wife fell in love with it .so hence we have taken the plunge and put a deposit down will be trading our old car in which owes me nothing .total figure to pay will be £13950 ,it will be the wife tootle about play thing doing about 2k a year mileage going to proberly keep for 3-5 years .the only problem I've foreseen for the future is getting the next car after this that will compete .The car snob factor is starting to rear its ugly head . To put it in perspective I said I've see a hybrid rav 4 for the right money low miles .and got ummm no thank you lol. One last thing is the stereo system is the best I've heard in a car that hasn't been modified .ill post up pics when we get it on the drive way within the week.

  20. Just a quick update, after a fortnight of ownership. The car has been to my friendly local mechanic and up on his ramps. Clean bill of health from him, which is good news. The only issue we spotted was some corrosion on the input to the rear silencer box, but that's not entirely surprising on a 10 year old car so I am not worried. New tyres have been sourced, and with 4 matching tyres, the car runs straight and handles nicely. I have also sourced a new can of tyre goo (the old one was missing) and a couple of carpet clips to replace broken ones on the driver's side. The driver's side windscreen washer nozzles have also been unblocked (not sure how it passed that element of the MOT the state it was in) and new wiper blades fitted. Detailed examination of the bodywork reveals a couple of scratches, but nothing too serious, and a small dent in the bumper just under the rear numberplate. Not sure why I didn't spot that one before I bought it, I guess it's only obvious when the light catches it a certain way. Looking at it, I guess the dent is a parking incident with another vehicle which had a tow ball, it is exactly the right size and height. I will get them all sorted sometime. Driving it with the roof down is great, and since the weather is so good, I have hardly driven it roof up! All in all, very pleased.

  21. Hi guys & girls, Finally got around to installing the VLINE2 this weekend. Bagged it 2nd hand from fellow member Graham Webster (if he is here many thanks indeed, smooth transaction with an honest member). Install was easy and I would recommend having a stab yourself if you are competent around your motor etc. I am a bit of a perfectionist so wanted all cables neatly tucked away, tied up no unnecessary slack etc etc. Removed the stereo as required but also decided to remove the glove box too to get better access to the roof of it where I decided to route all of the cables. Initially a bit scary as you will see from the pictures but worth the effort when it's all done and tucked away invisible. Removing the stereo is very easy, plenty of YouTube videos to help you with that. Glove box comes out with 5 black screws, 3 across the top of inside the lid, and two on each bottom corner just behind the air bag trim by the passengers knees. I actually ended up removing the passenger knee air back bracket as the bottom of the glove box is popped into it and I couldn't see a way of releasing it without risking a breakage. Was a lot easier to put it all back in place that way too. Remember to disconnect the battery before doing all of this as you are playing around with air bags!! If you feel inside the roof of your glove box you will feel it has a ledge in it, and the roof is slightly lower on the stereo side of the glove box. I cut a hole in vertical part of this ledge (which is about 25mm) so that the GROM cables coming in from the stereo pop straight through from that direction. Also, with the unit placed on top of the little plastic shelf inside the glove box the cables are invisible to a passenger when looking into the glove box from the passenger seat. I took up all of the slack on the video and power cables and left them to rest on top of the glove box roof with only enough to reach the unit coming through. GPS and Mic enter the same hole but from the other direction first. I took those up to the passenger A pillar via the corner air vent which you can see removed in the pics. The GPS sits nicely in the corner of the dash and the mic cable i took all the way up the A pillar, along the front edge of the roof liner, over to the top of the drivers A pillar where it is mounted. I did want to put it somewhere near the dome light in the centre but couldn't figure out how to fix it in place without cutting or drilling etc - which I didn't want to do in case I remove the GROM before selling the car. Unit booted up first time. Be sure to boot it up before you put all your trim and dash back in case something is wrong. I installed the new firmware via the SD Card so am now running 8.1. Though I cant comment on its performance vs 5.1 as I didn't even look through the unit before doing the upgrade. Was easy to do though, just gotta be careful with the SD card as I initially lost mine inside the unit and had to unscrew the metal casing to retrieve it. Oops. Anyways, so far I am really pleased with it. Got Apple CarPlay working too which is mainly what I bought it for but also impressed with the Google Apps available to use on VLINE itself. I plan to have a right good play with it both driving and now, also going to get a new launcher as I think there are much better ones available then the GROM stock launcher. Couple of initial observations however - When I test called my wife, she said that she could hear whatever she said in echo which doesnt happen when we talk via the Lexus OEM phone. Anyone else experience this? Can anything be done in the settings maybe? Turn the mic down or something? 2nd, the video posted above shows the widget shortcuts on the right hand side of the screen....I have fully updated my unit and it's still on the left. Any ideas? Very happy to help anyone that wants support with their install and those of you that contacted me about borrowing the upgrade for 8.1, please DM me and we can arrange you coming to my house. It only takes about 15 mins max. I dont ask for anything in return, but if you do drive and ISF, I'd quite like a quick go round the the block please 😄 Cheers, Bill

  22. Hi, My 2009 Rx 450 developed a "top of the engine noise" in November 2018. I took the car into Lexus Bolton who quickly diagnosed a worn bearing in the water pump and strongly recomended that the car should not be driven. Accepting this and relying on the extended warranty I instructed them to fit a new pump. Lexus time allowed 11 hours! [apparently it is a suspension removal job to access the pump]. The warranty claim was rejected. Lexus Bolton were brilliant in that they supported me throughout in my claim. My argument with the warranty company was that had I not been diligent in spotting the engine noise a seized bearing could have led to overheating and damage to the engine. Their reply was that had the cause of an overheated engine been diagnosed to a worn bearing any more substantial claim would also fail. Beware the most important words in that policy document are "wear and tear"
