  1. Actually that's not entirely true. I don't pick it up until Friday. So you may or may not know (or care) that I recently came to an agreement with @ronniemac for his 2002 GS 300. Well this coming Friday myself and Mrs rich1068 are flying up to Inverness from East Midlands to do the deal in person and then driving the car over the Cairngorms and on to Musselburgh where we'll stop over with friends and then carry on home to Sheffield. So that's roughly 400 miles over two days in an unknown 17 year old, 125k mile, sub-£1k Lexus. To say I'm looking forward to it would be an understatement I've also just renewed my Lexus breakdown cover for another year. I think there is a problem with one of the O2 sensors and I'm hoping the drive won't burn out the cat. Anyhoo, a couple of pics supplied by Ron. Btw, is this Cinnabar Red?

  2. I thought that this was really worth a mention. I recently went up to Lincolnshire for a few days and i did just over 600 miles in total. The journey up from Exmouth was 280 miles and the run back was more or less the same. I drove at the speed limit where possible which obviously included A roads and motorways giving the whole range of speeds but mostly 50, 60 and 70mph, with the odd zip up to 75+ when necessary. The figures on the dash display showed 47.5 on the trip up and 46.2 on the run back home. I know that it's accepted that the figures shown in-car are a little optimistic but, even allowing for that, I am really pleased with the return. That coupled with the lovely comfortable drive/ride gives me great pleasure. If I win any money at any time, I will be going for the RX next, tis a big IF though methinks.

  3. Brasso may work or it may not. Personally I prefer to use something like the 3M Headlight Restoration Kit like this one here. The main thing though, it doesn't matter which way you get them clean but you need to finish off with a UV-resistant top coat lacquer or something similar for long-lasting results. If you don't, they'll be as bad again within a couple of months.

  4. I must admit I enjoy the drive of the ISF, i guess with most newer cars the electrics take over the fun ☹️☹️

  5. He has always said comfort and smoothness is second to none but in his opinion the ISF is more fun. He says the electronically aspect of the GSF has taken the edge off it being as much fun. I can’t say myself as I’ve not driven a GSF, as much as I love my ISF my C70 is a more comfortable journey.

  6. Yeah a little hard. But I can always find a way round in my head. It’s 2.5 months of the lease on my GTI 😂

  7. I’ve a mate who’s has both ISF and GSF. He says advancements in GSF over ISF is noticeable on every aspect BUT says the ISF is the better car to drive and get feedback, he’s always said GSF feels like someone is overriding all decisions. Think a 48hr test drive is a must when parting with the ISF

  8. Price seems a little chunky, VED/road tax on a 350 is nearly £600 a year as well...

  9. Do an online MOT check etc... Check those breaks AND callipers - seized? Knocking could be many things. Get if fixed FIRST I would suggest...

  10. Have you tried putting gummi phledge or similar on all the door seals. The NX especially in f sport trim is going to have a firmer ride than other models so perhaps when warm the firm suspension magnifies the noise as the metal body panels have expanded. To be honest finding the source is not going to be easy as sounds travel in car bodywork. Having experienced issues with other marques I know how frustrating these things are.

  11. I will do thank you. I've already been reading through to see how to clean my head light cases as they seem a bit grim and saw a post about Brasso so giving it a go once the rain stops

  14. Hi I’ve had my RX 400 for seven years and every now and then there is a small rattle from somewhere either the sunroof or the cargo box in the middle , but I can go for weeks without hearing it. Is yours that bad that you can’t live with it even if it’s occasional? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  16. If you can can do the work yourself then buying from Toyota means you can have the best parts with zero labour costs. similarly, if you do the work yourself you can buy cheaper parts and see how you get on. If they fail you can try an alternatives since the labour is 'free' and you'll still be well below Toyota prices. If within the warranty period you can get a free replacement and put that on. Well worth doing the work yourself or having a mate who would do it for you.

  17. A low mileage, infrequently used (garage queen) car can be more problematic than a car that is in constant use doing many miles.

  19. Sorry, I only have one of my rear spoiler on me and I’m nowhere near the car at the moment but the carbon on the front lip looks exactly like the rear spoiler. It’s prone to stone chips though so I guess that’s one reason why it could have been badly touched up? As mentioned above this car was seen eariler in the year by a fellow member. The rear bumper had a scrape and the front windscreen was cracked IIRC. It’s such a shame that a car like this hasn’t been cared for especially as Lexus service costs are very reasonable for such a car. I did wonder why this car was still knocking around but now we have our answer. It also bugged me why this car wasn’t at a main dealer before all of this information. I know that the Lexus dealers are keen to keep the GSFs in the network if they are good enough. Mine was purchased from a private seller by Lexus Newcastle. The last GSF that hung around for a while was at a non Lexus dealer that was next to a Lexus dealer which also worried me and prevented me from pursuing it. The right car will turn up. Happy to help with any questions 👍🏾

  20. I did it myself. So it was cost effective.

  21. Personally I would keep the money in the bank and pay per service getting gold member 15% each time.

  22. I replaced mine last November at Lexus Birmingham they fitted a AGM Toyota branded one, which looking at the number could be Yuasa made, and is a higher AH than the original. They fitted it, set it up and disposed of the old one for a total price of £95 inc Vat and was a good £50 cheaper than I could find for supply only online. Of course having a service plan entitles you to 10% discount on all spares, labour costs and accessories, don't forget to ask for it if you are on a plan.

  24. I recently bought these and they do fit my dhp wheels. Having some lexus logos made up using 3D printer info can as my wife has access to one at her work witha 3D scanner potentially. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F123173736653

  25. @Flytvr makes a good point. For what must be near double the money is it near double the car or double the fun. It's a tricky one. On the other hand money in the bank is doing nothing.

  28. I've been buying my 4 replacement Toyota produced Upper Control Arms from Amayama in Japan directly on-line After carriage and Customs duty and VAT and fees they work out at about £250 each corner, which is 50% of the UK Lexus / Toyota supplied parts Cambelt and pulleys and waterpump generally needs changing at 10 yrs / 100k miles and a Gates kit should be fine .... . it's an 8 hr job ! steer clear of BluePrint for UCAs, the one I fitted ( £250 ) only lasted 45k miles, the originals last between 160 and 200+ k miles depending on driving stance and the nearside stuff often wears out faster it seems There's a mountain of data here about the Ls400, study and reflect and just enjoy your wonderful car Malc

  29. That’s way too expensive for a car battery. I had to replace my battery and went to the dealership and they charged me £125 with a 5 year warranty. Furthermore this is OEM.

  30. Apologies for keeping you all waiting! 😜 Haven't bothered with any ride height pics for now as they just look like it did before the install but here's a few aired out shots for you. Rides like a magic carpet. Unreal. Go out and buy this product right now 😎😎 She...... Low!!
