Hi Jeff Have not fitted the extra warning buzzer on my UX as its not needed but have fitted one on my 69 Lotus Elan for the same reasons ie could not hear the original and the self cancel did not always work. Has been fitted for about 5 years now and works great. The one I fitted was sold as a motorcycle fitment and it does not start beeping loud for the first few blinks so probably would not come on and annoy you if you are using the quick lane change flash feature. Very easy to fit and highly recommended for similar situations. John2 points

I wish my teenager would shout at people in another country and point out their failings ..... instead of targetting us for a while!2 points

Steve. Have a look in the handbook. I am sure it says in mine change pads at 1mm. John.1 point

Well...it's done. Thanks so much for the advice. A bit nerve wracking trying to lift the centre trim but found lifting at the end nearest the cup holder was the way to go. Everything else was a piece of cake. Bought a box of 10 bulbs for under £5 so that should see the car out. [emoji1] Sent from my EML-L29 using Tapatalk1 point

No, I haven’t tried it yet but, on reflection, I agree that it’s probably an antenna. I’ll try the demister tomorrow morning in the expectation it will have been a dewy night and we’ll see what happens.1 point

It won't work my friend. During my years of being a member of this forum I've seen far too many of these comments turning nasty, but it won't happen here.🙂1 point

I consider myself to have decent hearing but on my IS300h the mechanical signal cancellation itself is not great and I find myself checking the dash for the light to have stopped. Not great for safety, would be good if Lexus fixed via a firmware update. Seems across the range this is a “problem”.1 point

The overhead to produce an electric car as compared to an equivalent petrol car is about 3 tonnes of CO2. On current UK grid average (216g/kWh for 2018. 186g/kWh 2019 YTD (will increase as winter kicks in, tracking for just over 200g/kWh for the whole year. Source: https://electricinsights.co.uk/#/dashboard?period=1-year&start=2019-01-01&&_k=zbwgrc)) a typical EV will emit 34g/km (based on 2018 figure, 4 miles per kWh). A 40mpg average petrol car will emit 165g/km, and a 60mpg diesel will emit 128g/km (this is simply derived from the amount of carbon per litre of these fuels - this is not changeable). Thus in the UK there is a saving of around or greater than 100g/km of CO2 per km driven. That 3 tonne deficit from production is neutralised at 30000km, or just under 20000 miles. That's to say nothing of the overheads of fossil fuel - there's an 11% overhead in refining (ie for ever 9 gallons you get out of the end of the refining process, you burned the equivalent of 1 additional gallon), the impacts of transporting tonnes of crude and refined fuels around the place (if you drive 12000 miles per year then you're using over a tonne of fuel per year that has mostly been shipped from abroad. Then there's the impact of "consumables" - engine oil, filters, transmission fluids, spark plugs, etc. Over the life cycle of an EV it works out significantly lower CO2 emissions than an ICE vehicle. Keeping an old ICE vehicle going for longer will gradually lower its lifetime average CO2 per km (because the build overhead is spread over more km), but it will never get anywhere close to an EV.1 point

Will look into the GROM thing. The FM transmitters are good but in London, its hard getting a good signal due to all the many radio stations pirate stations etc.1 point

the 'buy green' is a government tactic to stimulate the economy and manufacturing... always better to keep something running in good order good for your pocket, good for the environment (just doesn't help the economy).... the should re-introduce the wombles to educate our young! it is interesting the EU are introducing rules to make white good more serviceable... seems like someone gets it.1 point

I fully appreciate the quality of the best car i have ever owned and driven I owned a car sales business a few years ago and certainly experienced a great raft of driving different cars, some brilliant ridiculously expensive and performance machines and fast ( Ferrari Aston Martin Rolls Royce etc ) but all with issues that are trounced by the simple all round quality of a Ls400 Simply the best car you don't need to tamper with to try to get a better performance from Oh, and I do go to this Livery Company lunches occasionally too The Worshipful Company of Tobacco Pipe Makers & Tobacco Blenders Malc1 point

I'll drive you there in my 3 litre Lexus. We can discuss how we're preserving the the planet for future generations1 point

A good few years ago I worked on a Costing The Earth for Radio 4 regarding this subject. The conclusion was that brands like Rolls Royce, Land Rover etc who's cars are still on the road 30 years later were easily the most environment friendly. Even the largest, most gas guzzling cars will struggle to use as much energy as it takes to create it in its life time. The fact that the hidden stuff that goes into making it is never taken into consideration, from the steel making, plastic manufacture, air miles used transporting all the widgets from all over the world etc. Anyway, off to get a coffee with my reusable cup....1 point

Agreed. I normally stay out of it but given recent circumstances I'm a bit ticked off. Apologies. Over and out.1 point

None - I fixed it for £330 (see my other post) and hope i dont need to spend money on insurance or another 150-250 on a catlock. Remember the catman replacement isnt platinum - its ceramic so worthless. Im hoping that the thief - as they seem so clever - will spot it is an aftermarket cheapy and not bother trying to take it again. Fingers crossed!1 point

Paul, don't know if these are still available but maybe worth you checking as look a good buy1 point

Jeff If you fit this warning buzzer please post a report. There are quite a few us with the same problem. John1 point

Jim. I did a write up on how to change the battery in the sensors for pennies each. Go to the GS section, and go to page 4 on the red line the near the bottom of the page click on the post "TPMS system fault". It gives with pictures what you need to do, and what batteries to buy. It is not difficult to do, and you have nothing to loose. The Landsail tyres you have a so called budget tyres. However do not be put off by this they are excellent low noise, very good wet grip, and good fuel economy low rolling resistance tyres. Many here on LOC do not like unknown brands "there prerogative", but there are some really good value tyres now on the market. A few years ago names like Hankook suffered the same problems, but are now fitted to BMW, and Audi John.1 point

Whatever you're both looking for it sounds like it's in your play pens. Too much of this goes on, it's not helpful.1 point

I'll upload mine to my Google Drive and send you a link to download them Barry. I actually bought the one that you linked to but it's only in PDF format and doesn't work very well but it may be useful as a sort of supplement to the better one I bought from Australia, which is in HTML format. I'll either do it later or possibly tomorrow.1 point

The volume cannot be adjusted in Techstreem or any other system. The buzzer you have listed will work fine but you may have to muffle it slightly if it is two loud. John.1 point

Lifting the panel that surrounds the gear-lever is easy enough, so I would imaging replacing the bulb can't be much harder. This stolen from the US Site Remove heated seat section of lower dash console first...the piece w the knobs...it pries out pretty easy...clips on both sides....then un plug from back Remove chrome shifter trim....will be stuck with cola and coffee...but comes up easy enough Remove shift knob Remove top deck wood surface...the big piece....gently pry at each corner...once u pop one of them u will get the feel for how the clip works.....gently pry up all 4 then remove Remove inner grey shift plate....4 clips one in each corner...easy....HOWEVER....there is a wire attached..this is to light up what gear you are in......u must gently and carefully pry out the inner clear plastic piece so u can reuse in new piece. This was pretty much the only area a little touch helped.1 point

Be careful with so called programmable non OEM tyre monitors as many people on LOC have found them to be unreliable. It would be worthwhile buying a Mini VCI with Techstreem to sort this out as this will be cheaper than the dealer checking the TPMS out, and you will then have dealer level of diagnostics at hand for future use. Techstreem shows the monitor serial number, the ability to change it , the actual tyre pressure, the tyre temperature, and the battery condition in the monitor. Replacing the batteries in the monitors does not require the car to be reprogrammed. This should only be required where new monitors are fitted. The code is written on each monitor, and has to be entered into the cars system via Techstreem or similar as they are fitted. John.1 point

So before I get around to checking myself, found this: It's an F-Sport whereas mine is an advance, so exhaust system could be different. So are the Cats at 1:14 or 1:24 in the video? If the latter we all might be in luck as this would mean the Cats appear to be part way tucked up into the engine bay. Crooks could cut the lower section of pipe but from what I see could not get a cutter in above. Can't wait to check for myself now!1 point
