  1. I once downloaded these pictures from an old thread. Hope it helps.

  3. Replaced all four brake disks and new pads - not bad since the disks have been on there from it left the factory 🙂 Also quick service (all fluids and filters) all nice and ready now for another winter as my daily driver except that drivers seat cushion - still can't get anyone to look at it let alone refoam it so I'm using one of those "eggshell" cushions bought off amazon not perfect but better than nothing.

  4. I would also raise this with Lexus Head Office and bypass the dealer on the basis that you are not happy with their response. I would also suggest that, if you do not receive satisfactory assistance, you will contact the motoring press for advice. All motoring magazines have pages dedicated to customer complaints. Raising the issue with Lexus HQ via their Twitter page is a good way to kick them into action also. With regards to the dealer, I would demand a thorough investigation and ask for a courtesy car whilst yours is being looked out. You could ask for a print out of all the tests they have carried out and asked for these to be reviewed by a qualified third party. If they are confident that the problem is fixed, they should not have any issue with one of their staff test driving the car for a few days: record the mileage before and after for evidence that the car was actually driven by them. Is there another Lexus dealer in your area that you could take your car to for a second opinion?

  8. You will find that theres not a lot of meat on the rear pads from new - the braking distribution does not rely on the rear pads like it does on the fronts, Think it is something like 80/20 or something like that. I have just changed my front and rear pads today (inbetween the rain showers - forecast was dry!!) The rears look like they are the ones on the car from new, stamped with Toyota on the backs of them, car is 13 years old although low mileage. Pins greased on front and back calipers / oil changed / oil filter changed and i scrubbed the wheel arches today - was amazed at how much muck came out of them as they looked clean.Coated all mechanics and rubbers with WD40. Started at 11am and finished at 1:30

  9. The holes at inner and outer are different sizes. I hammered them out, firmly but with care, then opened up all the holes to the same size.

  10. The plus pack is only relevant to model year 19 cars onwards: The Plus Pack adds stylish 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels which accentuate the sporty look of the sharp-edged exterior. In the case of our test car, the body was dressed in an eye-catching Solar Flare Orange colour. On the inside, the Plus Pack sees the introduction of semi-aniline leather upholstery, front-seat ventilation (ideal for a hot day) and leather-clad F-style steering wheel with an integrated heater for cold wintry morning starts. The audio package is also upgraded to a bespoke 17-speaker Mark Levinson premium hi-fi system, which includes large speakers in the doors and one at the foot of the rear windscreen.

  11. You can see that after the stoneguard was removed the small holes can be seen then tapped with a hammer it is very thin as its rusting from the inside, when looking inside you can see where the waxoyl or whatever they use for protection stops so therefore rust appears, it was cut out and treated with waxoyl then covered with new metal and finished off ready to spray.. You can catch it early and no need to do as much as you have done but I have not seen one of the old is200s without the dreaded rust....its the stoneguard which hides it for many years until its too late when you see the bubbles appearing ...

  12. This may help (it's for a USA RX330 but they're basically the same body shell) but if not, there seems to be a fair amount of possible info available by doing a Google image search for "RX400h sunroof drain" (without the quotes) which is how I found this: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-2nd-gen-2004-2009/648923-sunroof-moonroof-leak-2.html

  13. Also check and make sure the ventilation it isn’t stuck on recirculate.

  14. Yeah check cabin filter, I had same problem, changed the filter and the problem has completely gone

  15. Ensure the screen is very clean inside. A dirt film attracts water vapour and allows it to condense on the surface. Check the condition of the cabin filter(s), check the underlying floor sound deadening is dry. Keep the a/c switched on permanently, this dehumidifies the air.

  16. I absolutely agree about not using wire. I have a length of very heavy duty strimmer line with the end heated so its not sharp, works a treat!

  17. I would be careful about poking bits of rigid wire which could perforate tube in drainage system or dislodge it (I am assuming it's similar to the arrangement on other cars where rubber or plastic tube is push fit. Also, compressed air at too great a pressure/volume could cause the tube to blow off. I am not familiar with what is involved on your Lexus and how long the drain tubes are but on another car I used an old flexible speedo drive to gradually feed and turn it to clear debris. whilst adding warm but not hot water, A flexible wire of the type used to hold muslin curtains might do but make sure nothing on the end (you don't want to add to blockage) and that the end is ground not to be sharp. Drains on some cars are made of more rigid plastic and tend to become brittle.and split, also a build up of trapped water in a drain tube can freeze when temperatures fall causing tubes to split, so worth ensuring unblocked as we approach winter.

  19. Oops, I think I’ve just replied to another thread.... not the one I originally posted on... oh well.. Thank you chaps, I didn’t put email notification on so after a week of various attempts to bottom this, I’ve come back to the forum to post again, only to find your replies. Ok, I popped a coat hanger gently down both front drains. The driver side released immediately and water now flows through to the ground. The passenger side is not so happy, a drop or two makes it, and I can see the water puddling on the extreme right of the passenger floor carpet footwell. So it is blocked most likely at the end of the drain pipe. I also removed the rubber bungs on the undercarriage and managed to get water out there too, but the underside of my carpets at the front remain sodden, the top of the carpets, thanks to my water vac, feel slightly damp but not wet. The rear carpets in front of the back seats are also mildly damp, and all dampness is pronounced in areas on the passenger side. There was, initially, water in the boot, under the plastic stowaway tray, so I mopped that up, and none has returned since despite pouring rain. I first noticed water ingress several months ago during a monsoon like downpour... the passenger side front window pillow A? was really wet where it meets the roof, and the passenger side front floor was soaked. I cleaned it all up and it seemed fine, but now think it has been leaking ever since but only in very heavy rain, and therefore not really noticeable. Im taking it for an MOT tomorrow (it’s under a tarp at the moment) and will get my garage to gently blow some compressed air on the belligerent drain hole. At the weekend, I’ll try to find the rectangular slits on the undercarriage near the sills to see if I can dig out any crap (assuming the air doesn’t help). Like many before me, it seems pretty poor such a luxury car could have such a big problem. I’ve been pretty worried the batteries could be affected (that’d be the end of it if they were). Just hope I get it sorted with the air. If anyone had any other thoughts, please let me know. Vicmeldrew, I have read every thread I can find, here and abroad... it does not fill me with confidence that I may solved the problem yet.... Thanks again, E

  20. I took her down a lane where they had just walked 200 cows down for milking and she now looks as though I have been rallying. I have hidden her until I can get her nicely washed. She hates looking as though shes been dragged through a hedge backwards.

  21. I bought and fitted a condenser and compressor to my old ls430 bought from Paul Frost except the after market condenser which I bought from ebay usa which was £65 with postage included and even a life time warranty not that thats going to be of much use... but the job went well and even regassed it myself an easy job after someone on the forum told me about halfords selling the kit to do it. It does sound like the garage are trying to pull a fast one though. The aircon specialist (yeah right) I took mine to tried to charge me 1500 for the work and said there would be no guarantee and more work might have to be done, the car cost me 1600 so.... what harm could I do if I did it myself i though. I always thought that the aircon system was not to be touched by the likes of me but it turns out that its not that complicated.

  22. So As you can see most of this was done in the dark with a few lights. I had planed on doing it thought the day but my pal needed help with his exhaust. So next day I managed to get the bellow done, not too happy with the outer sill, really happy with the join with the wheel arch but not so sure about the curvature of it … What's your thoughts guys ? I will be using some body filler and then seeing how it is after that 😛 I have another 2 to do as my other car neds it quite badly. If everyone wants I can post about this here too ? Here we have the finishing product ! 😄 Still need to plug weld the Sill bit, Forgot to do this at the time but I can easy enough go round with my drill and fill it in with weld. Cut the Pinch to the same level. Im quite happy with how it turned out, kinda. Where the new Sill meats the old sill im going to need quite a bit of filler for that 😞 messed that bit up. Where the rear arch comes back, not sure if this is the correct curvature or if it matters, WHATS YOUR GUYS THOUGHTS ? also need to bend it back so its not a sharp edge.

  24. There's two drains at the front and two at the rear of the frame. I struggled accessing the rear ones but if you open the roof fully and pour a small amount of water into the drain channel you should see it exit the vehicle at the bottom of both A-pillars (behind the front wheels) and below either side of the boot (behind the rear wheels). Bear in mind that the gradient the vehicle is sitting on will determine what flows where. To check mine were clear I used thick soldering wire and pushed it down each drain pipe. The rear ones were impossible to find inside the roof cartridge so I reversed the wire and went from the drain holes up to the roof instead. I think they are a one piece tube so there shouldn't be any connections to disrupt but be careful. Happy hunting!

  25. Our RX300 had a sun roof, as does our RX450h but we never open them, preferring instead to use the climate control. However, I do know that this has been covered in the past, including the diagrams, so do a search of this forum and hopefully you should find the info you need.
