  2. MODs, considering the circumstances, please can you cut this post some slack? Due to long term illness, my very good friend's GS-F is likely to be coming up for sale soon. 2016 Lexus GS-F, Blue, 45k miles, FULL Lexus service history. Cherished and garaged. As soon as I have more information, I'll post it, but if you may be interested, PM me and I'll keep you informed. Thanks all. Dav 😞

  3. 67 what? Red ones? Not sure what difference that makes to any strategy. As I mentioned. Depends what it goes for. If you want a fast and reliable track car with cheap consumables compared to it's stablemates (Assuming it's a 2010 with an LSD and not a late 09 that has been registered late). It could be a bargain for someone who likes to drive to a track day, have some fun & then drive it back home. (or has enough dough to have it purely as a second track car). If that's the case then you don't worry about the interior, the wheels, the paint. You just enjoy it. Or... restore it to it's former glory and pray that the values start to rise after pouring a lot of money into it.

  4. Did you or she manage to check the receipt? I expect the diagnosis is correct, unfortunately, but it would be good if you'd seen the documentary evidence on the filling station receipt. You probably don't want to spend a lot of money without being absolutely sure of the problem.

  5. I am so pleased to learn that the car did not break down. An expensive lesson, but it can happen to us all.

  6. After a few weeks of using the new cheapish ebay 5k bulbs, it would appear the passenger bulb has started to flicker every now and again... Have decided to bite the bullet and go for the latest osram laser hid bulbs, circa £140 for a pair! [emoji50]. After watching various YouTube videos of all the latest bulbs these ones came out on top with the highest luminosity. I've also seen a video of a guy driving around country roads at night and they look amazing! So roll on the weekend... Lol Sent from my G8142 using Tapatalk

  7. Lexus Canterbury may be closing ( sad but if they can't sell new cars sensibly anymore ! ) but the Toyota main dealer about 200yds along the road, from my personal experience, is 100% superb for us Lexus owners Malc

  9. If she has the will to do so, she will. I repair computers for a living and also do some basic computer tuition. One of my customers is a lady of 83 and she's as bright as a button and really looks forward to our tuition sessions. She's a quick learner and loves it. The flip side is a guy of about 45 who really has no interest in computers but thinks he should learn as "everything seems to be on the Internet these days". Consequently he really struggles with the most basic of things. Your friend's fate and future with the car is in her own hands.

  10. We got there in the end. its unfortunate she did this and in a strange way as I had recommended the car I’m happy it was not mechanical or electrical and a mistake on her part because I was feeling bad . all but this forums I visited on various cars had issues here and there, and when I read this forum it was just the odd squeak here and there and mpg. I thought great just like all those rating were Lexus are in or just below the top in ratings, she could not go wrong with one. hopefully after this she will start to enjoy the car but I don’t think I’ll let her loose with my van 😂 Originally We looked at electric, Tesla’s, the Porsche Taycan, Merc EQC but it’s still a tad early but the Porsche was very nice but she found it far too low in the sitting position. The RX was too large, just like the Tesla X but the NX was just right but she is worried about all the modern stuff and as she has no computer, no internet, is quite old fashioned in many ways I hope she can grasp the car.

  12. Definitely not 67 red ones 😂......only ever 17 red ones sold from 2008-2013 in the uk, think the rat compiled a list and I think he traced 7 red ones to be left out of the 17 sold. Think the values will go north but a time of 5yrs + will probably be the case.

  14. I think that the £1K "fix" may well be OK. If you put petrol in a Diesel then there is insufficient lubrication of the high pressure fuel system from the petrol and pump failures may occur. Putting Diesel in a petrol car will just cause it to not run as the fuel will not vaporise as it emerges from the injectors. A good clean out may well be "good enough".

  15. Putting diesel into a petrol car doesn't usually do much apart from making lots of smoke as it burns. Doing it the other way, petrol into diesel can be quite catastrophic for the diesel engine. Given the above I'm quite surprised that the car actually broke down in the first place, although I suppose it depends on how much petrol was in the tank when she put the diesel in.

  17. I've checked a couple of card receipts I've still got from different filling stations and they both say "Unleaded" on them. Then quantity, pump number, price etc. If she's got the receipt, there's a good chance it would confirm one way or another whether it was diesel.

  18. What a costly mistake to make on a new car. Hope it never happens again! Hope it's fixed totally for 1k. Is Lexus charging for loan car as not their fault, or not charging for it as having them do the work? James.

  19. How about fitting one of these? Condition the battery at the same time.. https://www.webasto-comfort.com/en-uk/product-overview/product/show/ethermo-top-eco/ Or the more usual petrol version, operable anywhere (outside).. https://www.webasto-comfort.com/en-uk/product-overview/product/show/thermo-top-evo-1/

  20. Apparently all Lexus services on hybrid cars include a free hybrid drive check. But you can get the Hybrid check (and the hybrid battery warranty extension) separately - cost £59 I think.

  21. Happy to stand corrected. Thinking about it I was assuming my services are included in with my warranty, as the MOT is, it is not, I took out the three years in addvance at 10% discount (and protected from near future cost increases) option. Apologies.

  22. Should be OK if it's used regularly. I think the auxiliary battery is the achilles heel of the Lexus hybrids if they aren't used a lot. I had to call the AA out about a year after I bought my IS300h, new 12miles on the clock when delivered. Just wouldn't start. AA man jump started it but it happened a couple more times. I just don't use them enough to keep the battery charged. Now I use a battery conditioner to keep it going OK.

  23. My understanding is that the 180bhp is the engine power and the 220bhp is the combined engine and motor power! Although the motor is rated around 110bhp the battery isn't big enough to provide the full power hence the reduction to 220 when combined.... Sent from my G8142 using Tapatalk

  24. After my eyewateringly expensive experience with the German purchase I'm only buying high cost items from the UK, or from people I know and trust. I get stuff from Poland and Italy, but that's from trusted suppliers. There's no way I'm buying a radiator from the States or the Far East. It's a time consuming and costly risk to save a couple of hundred squids.

  29. Just checked online, I'm seeing the same prices for Michelin Primacy 4 and the Dunlops on blackcircles.com. I need to do a bit of research on the Dunlops now 😄 Thanks for suggesting @Scouselexus

  30. Try and press the MODE button (steering wheel mounted button on the left) until mute is cancelled... although I have to say that I thought that adjusting the volume either via the on/off button or the steering wheel controls overrode the mute function.

  34. Just a quick piece of advice when dealing with disconnecting battery's and reconnecting always neg terminal first and then positive and when reconnecting neg gets fitted last . This stops sparking terminals reducing the risk of exploding battery's when gasses are present .as will smith would sing boom boom shake the room .

  35. Well a nice deep breath but my companion managed to put Diesel in even after I questioned her. the damage is 2 fold, £1000 to have the engine and tank cleaned out and she Loses warranty on the petrol side of the car or £6000 to have all the parts replaced and keeps the warranty on the petrol side. shes following their recommendations by having it cleaned out and will lose the warranty on the petrol side so if anything happens i.e. I guess injectors and so on she would have to put up with a replacement costs. i’m mighty surprised she even managed to get the diesel nozzle into the car but then again she obviously managed to do it. I’ve told a lessons learned and that she should take more notice when filling up.
