  1. 2year update, Whilst clearing clutter on my phone I found old messages from the chap who bought the car from me, decided to drop him a message to see if he still had it & if so how it's going. Cambelt change, full service & 4 new Michelin's A re-spray on the fade on top of rear bumper, plus an air con re-gas, (His words) most importantly drives like a dream, Several trips to Devon, trip to Edinburgh & France No collectors item but a great drive. Now sporting a personalized registration. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

  2. I finally have my hands on to my MY2010 stock isf Having been driving hybrids in the past 2 years, prius, nx and gs450h, it is something quite fresh for me. I definitely needs time to adjust from my pulse driving style. First thing to say, the car is well built. The interior is what I expect from a lexus. The materials have hold up well for its age. The seats are in just as good shape and condition as the 63 plate GS which I have sold recently. The engine sounds epic. Thank god not another CVT. The GS obviously offers a better environment when driving sedately. This brings me onto the SUSPENSION. It is harsh and I was expecting this coming from the GS. It is bearable for now, may look at kwv3 or 2013 set up in the near future. It is worse than my 2010 prius, almost like the FK2 Type R. It makes me smile though just to switch the car on and hear the sound, which is what matters. I will update in a few months time, and perhaps talking about how it differs from my GS450h in terms of driving and usability which might be of interest to someone as I once ask the same question. barry

  3. Just to add to my previous post...…. I called in to my local Lexus dealer/service centre and asked them to explain what the E5/E10 change will mean for Lexus models. They agreed with my earlier post and added a couple of other models that will need to use E5. They are: Lexus IS250 2.5 litre V6 (code 4gr-fse) built between Aug 2005 and Sep 2007 Lexus GS300 3.0 litre V6 (code 3gr-fse) built between Jan 2005 and Sep 2007 They also said that, while E5 is recommended for these models, there might be a time when you need to fill up and there is none available locally. It won't be a problem if you put some E10 in - as long as you top up with E5 as soon as possible. Again, this only applies to models made for the European market. I asked about imports and they said they would try and find out - but not to hold my breath. Unlike in the UK, where you can import RHD from Japan relatively easily, there is no real market for that in mainland Europe.

  4. Sorry!!!! PINK!!! I'm good mate - thanks. How's you? Yes, still got the ASBO Merc. Been busy scaring dogs, small children and everything else 😂 I might now wear Merc underwear (skid resistant), but I still feel quite at home in the F world 🙂

  5. Hi, P0868 894, refers to the difference between the value of the transmission revolution sensor rotational speed times the gear ratio of the 2nd stage motor speed reduction planetary gear unit and the MG2 rotational speed, exceeding a specific value continuously for a specified time at a speed of 22 mph or more. Before touching anything on the inverter converter and any high voltage equipment, remove the HV plug from the trunk and wait 10 minutes for the capacitors to discharge. Wear insulated gloves and measure the voltage present on the equipment you are about to touch. The problem could be at the wire harness or connectors of all relative equipment, Hybrid vehicle transmission assembly, oil pump with motor pump assembly, hybrid control ECU, Fusible Link and the oil pump relay. Check the hybrid ECU connector. Check for corrosion, dirt and anything that makes a bad contact. Oil pump motor controller connector. Check hybrid transmission SL1, SL2 solenoid valves and Solenoid valve connectors Transmission rev. sensor connector pin 1 and ground, 11 to 15 Ohms at 20C SL1 connector pin 3 and pin 2 , 5 to 5.6 Ohms at 20C SL2 '' '' 22 '' '' 21, '' '' '' '' '' '' In engine bay, check the fusible link of the oil pump. Check the oil pump relay resistance values. Pins 1 and 2 , 151 to 203 Ohms. Pins 3 and 5, 10 KOhms or more. With 12v across pins 1 and 2, resistance between pins 3 and 5 shoul be less than 1 Ohm. Check the harness and connector between HV control ECU and oil pump motor controller. There are measurements to take on the connectors which I will try to leave on another post if you want to pursue the issue further. P2797-865 , refers to the auxiliary transmission fluid pump control performance. The oil pump motor controller, controls the rotation speed of the oil pump motor [ 3 phase brushless motor ] in accordance with the rotation speed request signal sent from the hybrid control ECU. The controller also displays the oil pump motor status as a signal to the hybrid control ECU. To diagnose what is causing this DTC involves a lot of measurements and I will try to send them to you if you have the time to go through the tests. They are measurements on the connectors on the equipment involved. Concluding, make sure that the 12v battery is ok and it never falls below 11volts. Make certain that the ground points are good and without resistance between the battery negative terminal and the ground point in question. Male sure that all connectors are clean, corrosion free and sealed from rain, moisture, dirt and dust. make sure that they fit firmly and securely. Pay particular attention to the pins of the connectors, clean them if necessary with suitable solvents for electronic electronic equipment. Check for damaged harnesses and repair. Kindest regards, Chris.

  9. MODs, considering the circumstances, please can you cut this post some slack? Due to long term illness, my very good friend's GS-F is likely to be coming up for sale soon. 2016 Lexus GS-F, Blue, 45k miles, FULL Lexus service history. Cherished and garaged. As soon as I have more information, I'll post it, but if you may be interested, PM me and I'll keep you informed. Thanks all. Dav 😞

  10. Late 16, low mileage in a decent colour (call me the grey man) https://belfast.usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/used-lexus/Lexus/Rc-F-Coupe/500-50-2dr-Auto-t7b7f4p Is it just me or does that alloy look badly kerbed ? Anyone over there want to pop down and give the car a once over for me

  12. @Cactus - I highly recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 'S' in the upsized fitting. My rears are only just down to 3mm as of today after completing approx. 25k miles including some track work. Incredible tyres so far and will be swapping them out for the same. Fronts are down to 5mm having covered same distance 🙂

  20. So on topic (sort of). Mine went in today for an MOT at Lexus in Poole. Lovely 19 plate NX as a courtesy car. Slight difference in where I dropped it off and where it was tested 😉

  21. Iv'e just replaced the drop links on my Celsior and I can't image the process is any different. When you remove the wheel the nuts on the links can be loosened, there may be an allen socket on the end to prevent the ball joint turning as you loosen them, or they could have flat sides for a spanner. When you loosen the nuts you then have to use a jack to raise the lower control arm until there's no pressure on the link, then simply remove it.

  22. While you are in the area check the roll bar bushes. Mine were worn on my GS450H. As a temporary repair I cut the slot "where they go over the bar" to have more clearance then put a piece of plastic about 1/8 th thick under the flat area of the "D" shape. This removed all the play until new bushes could be obtained. John.

  23. Yea I do agree the stats are very good and scientific, but sometimes life is just no so scientific when you've bought something that perhaps wasn't your other halves 'first choice'. That shiny Red BMW did look nice! So best to consider all eventuallities to CYA.

  24. We bought or car GS250 last week from an independent garage Tempest for cars near Brighton they serviced it, but we had it into Lexus Edgware today for an interim service as only £ 175 inc VAT, they were quite good as well and the car had a clean bill of health. I wanted to ensure the car was ok and don't know the dealer we bought it off but they seem to have been good. However, the reassurance of the service and cheap cost at least maintained the Lexus SH. I took the additional warranty from Lexus though as it seems quite good for a better price than the aftermarket ones from insurance companies and covers the full lexus labour rate where others don't. Whilst I think a genuine independent garage are probably good I would use one for repairs and have when we had our Bentley as was getting on in age (Hanwells of London) they knew the car better than Bentley plus the last service at Bentley was over 5K. However, I do think a lot of people want and like a full main dealer history particularly on a relatively new car. Dealers always stay in adverts FMDSH so they must have an opinion it helps sells cars. i also took out the two year extended warranty from Lexus and couldn't have without the service and health check been completed and all good. Therefore, I do think there is a place for independents, and would consider for repairs , exhausts etc but I do think the full main dealer history does help if you come to sell the car either adding value or at least easing the sale proces?

  26. it was me that ran the Bilsteins and they ride pretty good, I do however prefer my BC Racing coilovers with 16/12 springs
    1 point
  27. although the KW V3 are extremely good dampers they come with very low spring rates (11/8 kg I believe) and as the fronts are conical springs extremely hard to get alternatives, my assumption that they are so low would be that they are not specific to the ISF bat cater for the full IS family, if you are looking to retain stock ride height the spring rates are not ideal, although not the end of the world you will loose a but of that dynamic feel, If you are however planning to to reduce the ride height remember this will change the roll centres and will need to be stiffer sprung, a minimal drop you in my opinion need a 14/10 setup, bigger drops a 16/12 setup (I run a 16/12 setup) If you do go down the coilover route, whichever brand you go for make sure you have them professionally setup on corner weights as they generally come with only enough preload to stop the spring coming loose during shipping, the whole point of being able to adjust the preload and to a certain extent the height is that you can match the weight on each corner as close as possible, when you see people slating coilovers of any brand this is generally because they have not had them setup correctly.

  28. I have now dug out the archive and it was the tool made for extracting the hub bush, it is made from I think either a short piece of scaffold tube or a lesser diameter piece of tubing of that gauge and the nuts threaded rod and a big cupped washer shown in the pics. then just wind the silver nut until the bush come into the tube, neither bush sleeve came out but seperated from the rubber The dremel sawzill was used to cut through the sleeve of the bush when it seperated from the rubber. The tool was then used to push the new bushes in with plenty of lubricant

  29. Don't know what resources the Police are putting into ending this form of theft but maybe some (more ?) 'bait cars' observed by police and when culprits found hopefully they will get hefty sentences (or be deported where applicable). Such cases would need to be widely publicized in the hope it would deter others. Maybe insurers could exercise pressure on the Police to be more proactive. d

  35. I need to take her out for the day and go through all the various bits and bobs. I know how she managed to put Diesel in, flustered and stressed with too much on her mind which is why I mentioned it on the first page of this thread. I’ll take her into a garage on a fill and show her why it’s hard to put the nozzle in when it’s incorrect size wise and I might try and find a sticker so it never happens again. That was one of the draw backs to some of the electric cars, she would need to push forward and be up to date with her phone and networking and understanding how they work and different chargers and so on. I think it would have been a tad too much in one go. On about fuel, I run a lot of gardening equipment and the standard unleaded with its ethanol has wrecked several carbs on my Stihl equipment so I now have to use Esso premium as it’s clear of the stuff.

  36. 2008 car with 126200 miles. Owner since August 2016. No faults or failures. Just usual tyres, brakes, oils, filters, plugs. I will say it has all original bushes and it feels as though they could soon be for a replacement.

  37. We got there in the end. its unfortunate she did this and in a strange way as I had recommended the car I’m happy it was not mechanical or electrical and a mistake on her part because I was feeling bad . all but this forums I visited on various cars had issues here and there, and when I read this forum it was just the odd squeak here and there and mpg. I thought great just like all those rating were Lexus are in or just below the top in ratings, she could not go wrong with one. hopefully after this she will start to enjoy the car but I don’t think I’ll let her loose with my van 😂 Originally We looked at electric, Tesla’s, the Porsche Taycan, Merc EQC but it’s still a tad early but the Porsche was very nice but she found it far too low in the sitting position. The RX was too large, just like the Tesla X but the NX was just right but she is worried about all the modern stuff and as she has no computer, no internet, is quite old fashioned in many ways I hope she can grasp the car.

  40. In 1972 I had a brand new VW Type 3 Fastback in Texas Yellow. I parked in on Double Yellow lines whilst I ran into a branch of Lloyds Bank to deposit a cheque. I ran straight out of the Bank and back to my car to find a Traffic Warden standing next to it. I apologised for my transgression and she remarked that she had never seen such a wonderful car in such a beautiful colour !! I thanked her and drove off immediately. Those days are long gone.

  41. Voodoo are you on your period?.....Chill out don't get so bitchy man.....its was a joke FFS...... 67 is a forecast from Lexus Business Management...they believe that 67 will be the end state number for collectible ISFs in the next 5 yrs...so my comment on strategy was if you want to invest...keep the mileage low and don't track the car (TBH its a **** awful track star...and so are all the stable mates ----RCF, GSF, etc) It might be cheap but it just doesn't hold the back end....if you want to track, buy an Atom or a Civic TR....a Lexus stable just isn't the choice..... .....
    1 point
  42. 67 what? Red ones? Not sure what difference that makes to any strategy. As I mentioned. Depends what it goes for. If you want a fast and reliable track car with cheap consumables compared to it's stablemates (Assuming it's a 2010 with an LSD and not a late 09 that has been registered late). It could be a bargain for someone who likes to drive to a track day, have some fun & then drive it back home. (or has enough dough to have it purely as a second track car). If that's the case then you don't worry about the interior, the wheels, the paint. You just enjoy it. Or... restore it to it's former glory and pray that the values start to rise after pouring a lot of money into it.

  43. How about fitting one of these? Condition the battery at the same time.. https://www.webasto-comfort.com/en-uk/product-overview/product/show/ethermo-top-eco/ Or the more usual petrol version, operable anywhere (outside).. https://www.webasto-comfort.com/en-uk/product-overview/product/show/thermo-top-evo-1/

  44. Nice looking 460. Had a bit of snow down this neck of woods last week, thank heavens for VSC, and recently fitted new tyres (not winter ones though - as when it gets that bad, i stay at home)

  45. One of the main factors as to why I now drive a Lexus was their offer of a 24 hour test drive of the NX. Once I had experienced the comfort, quality, quietness and driving pleasure I was hooked!
    1 point
  46. The resale point is interesting, especially as a) the NX has one of the highest predicted residual values after three years of any mid-sized SUV (53% according to What Car?) and b) just this week I had an email from Lexus asking to buy my car, even if I didn't buy another one as they need stock. If I were a dealer I'd be concerned at buying a three month old car if it wasn't my marque. Most won't be able to retail it themselves, so will need to trade it. When I was trying to move on my VW Tiguan diesel, I had two dealers who wouldn't offer on it as it had the DSG gearbox, even though it was under warranty and had just had the gearbox replaced. In the end I traded it in at a massive loss. That's how life works. If you need to sell, and a dealer knows it, then you can't expect a good deal... ...should also add that this time last year when I moved from NX #1 to NX #2, the dealer put my old NX up for sale for MORE than I paid for it one year earlier!
