  1. Just a heads up that I've just purchased a touch up kit from these guys and the service was excellent. They are of course part of Fish Bros in Swindon. 👍

  2. How infuriating that this happened and thankfully the other party was an honest sort. Let us know how you get on - it really doesn't take much to write cars off like ours off these days.

  4. Hi my names Craig and I am a Autotrader Addict. I have around 25 searches active currently, many for cars I dont even really have any intention of buying unless my life takes an unexpected turn! Just keeping an eye on the market just in case 🙂

  6. Barry, Please check with your insurance company as the damage may be covered by your policy. You must emphasise that you were mindful of the situation and the flash flooding left you with no alternative as abandoning the vehicle as not an option and your life was in danger. If that fails, then contact Richard at Hybrid Battery Solutions and ask him for a quotation. Good luck.

  7. car park dings often are 50/50 whatever you may think and the other side admits Its the insurers paying the bill, not him if you can still safely drive the car, and you would wish to, then don't bother with a courtesy car, someone's got to pay for it and if it's 50/50, in the end that it WILL impact upon you don't let them take your car away, even for assessment ......... they might keep it, then you're stuffed My door crunch claim was £1500 for insurance but 2hrs work to get it looking good and my cost to purchase was a strange 27% of the write-off value and I got cash too with a car that's now " N " recorded Malc

  8. There are so many options out there now for you to look at as the market has really come on leaps and bounds. Think the biggest issue you have right now is the weather and if you have a garage that you can work in, reason being most ceramics of any description need to be kept dry until cured. Is it a new car or just new to you? What car is it? I personally use Tac Systems Moonlight which would be classed as a light ceramic, but still has 25% si02 but is very easy to apply as it is oil based. It can be layered and would generally last 9-12 months. If I had garage space to apply I'd do 3 or 4 coats as it will really add to the thickness. I've found that unlike my Lexus which picked up stone chips my current car has hardly any and I'm putting that down to the ceramic. Obviously prep is key and this time of the year you may struggle getting anything ceramic based on due to them needing to cure, otherwise you will end up with water spotting. Gyeon Can Coat is another light ceramic and very easy to use but only 10% si02. The car will need to be clayed and IPA wipe down before application of any coating to aid it bonding correctly. If you are doing it inside a garage I'd recommend something like Carpro Essence as a polish as it will add massive gloss and is a primer for ceramics. Another option to maybe get you through winter would be Wowo's Crystal Sealant which is due to be released shortly as they have been relaunching the company. This is probably the strongest spray sealant outside of a ceramic and is multi use so can be used as a wheel sealant and also good on glass as a repellent. Think they relaunch on the 9th and I'm definitely getting more of this its brilliant stuff. This would easily see you through until spring time when the weather improves but as it's so strong it would need to be polished off. Sent from my SM-A505FN using Tapatalk

  11. Try chemical guys blacklight. Lasts for ages and beads wonderfully. Oh and very easy to apply. Have used it for several years and people comment on how it beads. After car is washed I spritz with their hybrid V07 gloss protector.

  12. Yes, Spacenase beat me to a reply, and he's right over the folder sequencing. I can also confirm my old IS needed a sorted list of folders / files (FAT32 memory stick), to play album tracks in the correct order. I used to use xcopy or robocopy to copy the files over from hard drive to do this, and had to do a format and full copy each time I added a new album. But for belt and braces, today I did download and apply "FAT sorter"; it's not solved the problem on the ES. So the only solution for now appears to be to change ALL the MP3 tag title names in each album folder, to provide an alphabetically sorted order, viz: "01 - First Track" "02 - Second Track" "03 - Third Track" etc. The audio firmware fix for this should be, for a given album folder, to use the track number tag rather than track name tag, or if that's missing use the track file name order in the folder. The track name tag should have no bearing on the order tracks are played. The code would need appropriate error checking when parsing each album folder. Some track number tags may be missing, and I've equally seen tag entries of the form 1, 01, 1/12, 01/12, etc. Lexus really do need to fix this annoying feature.

  13. This is not concern - it is guaranteed, mine was written-off for much less damage: This is damage before and after some polish: The only other thing was that I kerbed one wheel when trying to avoid the incident: So if you have damaged doors I cannot imagine how they would agree to repair it and not scrap it. On the positive side, they definitely do not want to be dealing with old Lexus car so won't bother if you want to keep it. My advise - use fraudsters against fraudsters, that is do not go to your insurance, instead got for FCA registered claims management companies. Much less hassle and they will sort everything very quickly as long as it is non-fault accident (I can share some contact in PM if interested). If you go for insurance company you will be in deep puddle for at least half a year, paying deposits, driving nissan micras and getting substandard services.

  14. Only clip I have of the car not static, courtesy of someone else from a meet I attended the weekend, this was only to about 5k revs as the car had been sat for a few hours and was not fully warm. Gives an idea of what valves open sounds like for me driving to work each day... I'd be lying if i said i wasn't addicted to the go faster pedal! GSF_pull.mp4

  15. Having now driven my NX some distance I have had to change my style of driving from that of the CT in order to help increase my MPG. We all go through the settling in period where the sports mode button is fun but then reality kicks in and fuel economy is back on the cards. I was advised by my dealer to get up to speed as quickly as possible, in his opinion this was the most economic way. I have found that by leaving it in eco mode and steadily getting to the required speed whether that is 30,60 or 70 and leaving it in eco has produced the best mpg. I am achieving 39/40 MPG by doing this and its not like Im travelling on a level road, A1, A66, M6/M74. this is my weekly commute at the moment so low fuel consumption is key. I still have moments of madness where my lead foot returns but the majority of my route is at an acceptable MPG. I hope this aids anyone hoping for better MPG, good luck

  16. Lexus Nottingham had my GS for 2 days trying to work out why the interior light sometimes operated and sometimes not. Despite me telling them on 4 separate occasions that if you touched the entry switch on the "B" pillar only slightly they would operate and if off would turn them on and visa versa. After tracing wires and control units for 2 days they eventually changed the switch that I had pointed them to. I did have to lose my rag though. Consequently I shall not be returning and have no confidence in their abilities. I feel your pain Colin.

  19. I agree. I would write a letter and include a diary of the events, listing phone calls, meetings, etc and tell them what you would like in compensation. You are in a bargaining position, so don't let them decide what that compensation may be. I would suggest that you ask for 3 years free servicing, or free extended warranty, etc. The worse that can happen is that they will say no, so you have nothing to lose. Could also ask for a hefty discount on a new car on the basis that you no longer trust your current one. Supposedly, second hand UX are in high demand... they may oblige!

  20. Dyno runs are great for before and after comparison figures demonstrating any increased output due to tuning work but as a stand alone measurement, one would need to show calibration certs for the dyno for the figures to carry any weight.

  21. My 2007 250 ( which doesn't get used as much as I'd like) averages about 35 mpg General but on a recent run ( Bristol to Plymouth ) got a Tank average of 41mpg , Not fantastic but I'd didn't exactly but it for its frugality! But for Everything else it offers!!! You want luxury, comfort & toys then you gotta expect to pay! paul m.

  22. My car was backed into today on a supermarket car park while I was in the car. The driver of the other car has admitted full responsibility in writing, and we exchanged details. The rear half of the passengers door is caved in along with some damage to the front of the rear wheel arch. The door opens, and closes ok. I will post some pictures when it gets light tomorrow, and add them to this post. Although the damage is not extensive or structural I am concerned the insurers will write off the car the usual tale of a 12 year old car with 140k + on the clock. I know the insurers will take little or no notice of the fact that the car has new shocks all round, new rear disks and pads, new tyres, and wheel refurb in the last few months. I guess the only sensible thing to do if it is written off is to buy it back as I doubt it would cost £500 for me to put it back as it was. I will keep you all informed as things progress, but I do not wish to be without my car over Christmas. I know I will get a loan car but this will be a KA or something like that will not take my mobility scooter. John.
