  1. Afternoon all, Whilst perusing the offers in my local Aldi, I noticed a twin pack of anti theft key wallets for the bargain price of Β£4.99. This seemed too good to refuse, so I took the plunge. In the car park, I put my key into one of the wallets and then tried to open the door. Failure - it opened! I then tried the key in the second of the two pockets and success. There was no interest from my car at all no matter how close I dangled the wallet enclosed key. At home, the main and spare key are in the centre of the house, so they "should" be safe from ne'er do wells, but when I'm away on business it would be good to have a little more security. For Β£4.99, you can't really go wrong. For some reason, my photo of the packaged items won't upload, but I have attached one showing which pocket the key should be put in for maximum invisibility. Obviously the key ring came off before I put the key away!

  6. Soooooo.... Been in touch with the exhibitions team at Chateau Impney where we can get a dedicated exhibition area, afternoon tea or lunch and rooms for those who want them. Plenty of good roads on the way there from every angle! The place looks pretty awesome, great for photos; And we can park in one of a number of great locations for the pics; Still gotta firm this up but it's a decent option for now. Watch this space for more.

  7. Because I have mechanical sympathy I haven't tried it with kick down as i know there is a fault. It is most noticeable when shifting into gear when the car is cold (raised rpm). When shifting from D to R it is noticeable too. If driven gently from standstill it won't bang, when switching from gas to petrol on the fly, the split second needed to switch makes it bang as engine loses power and then gets it back suddenly. Previous owner did tell me this fault, although he failed to mention the rotten metal underneath πŸ‘€. However, for the price I paid for the car (Β£1,000), with a working LPG system and relatively low mileage, I can't be too picky can I. Good news is I've finished repairing the wheel well. (Yes I know the welding is nothing short of shockingly hideous, but, as aforementioned, I am no welder, just an Ape with a Mig.) πŸ˜‚ And at least now my gas tank won't fall out whilst I'm driving. Next on the list is getting the clocks out and getting them repaired. 😁

  8. Hi Colin, I had a similar problem with a 17 plate Premier and posted here about vibration and judder. After 14 years of near serene driving in my series 2 (2005) RX300 this nearly drove me mad. Unlike you I failed to replicate it and Lexus said it wasn't there at all. I could feel the vibrations coming up through the driver's seat and so spent a huge amount of time underneath the car. The exhaust is suspended by 6 rubber hangers. 4 of them allow considerable movement back to front but the other 2 virtually prevent it and only offer a few millimetres of moment. I felt as though the engine vibration was coming into the cabin when the engine was pushing the exhaust silencer tight against the holders. I even bought "fire rope" and was going to remove the rubber mounts and use the rope ( with a metal wire for safety !) as a test. Rope never got used as I gave up and sold it. I drove about 6 RX450h's whilst mine was in dock and only 1 was as smooth as my '05. The others had a bit of what I was complaining about but mine was terrible. My new (69) one is not as smooth as I'd like but it is bearable. Otherwise the car is amazing. I also wondered if the car had faulty engine mounts but never found out. I was just surprised that a so called luxury brand could produce a product that was capable of vibrating the driver so much. I'd be interested if you ever find out what the cause is. Alan
