  1. https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-buying-guides/lexus-ls400---shed-buying-guide/41635 Nice article telling us all about our classic car! No mention of button checkers having sets of fingernails though.

  5. Cheers - order placed - previous code was invalid but there was a new code (at time of posting) MID80 so just under 50% off at £18 so still good

  6. I had the rear reclining massage seats in my other Celsior but found them impossible to use..... couldn’t reach the pedals or the steering wheel. 😀

  9. Brilliant! Thank you John, (Britiprius) much appreciated. Thank you too John (royoftherovers) Unfortunately I can't put my hand to the manual, I think that her indoors may have put it somewhere 'tidy'😀

  10. I grew up in London, left when I was 29 and I've no desire to go back, apart from work very occasionally. I did find the insurance easy with my Celsior with the recommended company supplied by the seller. It costs a bit more than a non import (£295) but with a low excess, and surprisingly, no increase this year!

  11. I had a 6-cylinder 4-series and can confirm that indicators were fitted as standard. I suspect it’s the 318d (which as we all know goes really fast) Which lacks such niceties....

  13. Thank you for directing me to this info, both lights work I n tandem but seem too high. I will digest the information over the coming weeks and try to correct the problem once the weather has improved. Cheers

  14. Back when I was 24, driving around in 1.3 Escort Mk3, if I had anything like a hot hatch back then, I would be in the wooden box a long time ago. I remember getting my first Cavalier srI, and getting it up to 130mph (just), and nearly smashing into the back of tractors coming round country bends too quick. Made me realise that even at 30 years old I was too mad for a sportier car and went with Mr Sensible motors until I tried my first LS Not been in any of the sporty Lexus range, too used to the LS luxury (and sometimes push the barge up to 120 - when wife not with me).

  15. Indeed. However, if the OP meant that he didn't have access to Techstream then that problem can be solved for considerably less than Lexus charge for an hours labour.

  16. update: so I got my mechanic to just push the pipe further and do a fresh clamp. Seems to be working since then.. lets see if it holds for long. thanks again for everyones help. glad i asked the question here.

  17. Thank you all for the input. I went with Avons. The Primacy 4 sound good on a saloon car but I can't find any word on their use with an SUV and get the feeling they were not really designed with them in mind. The Crossclimates fit the bill and get thumbs up here, but seem in a similar ball park to the Avons which also get the thumbs up here. So I choose to go with what I already have on the front which do feel sure footed.

  18. Geoff. All the Lexus range "and most of the Toyota" adjust the headlamp height automatically. This is done by ride height sensors on both the front, and rear suspension adjusting the headlamps depending on the load being carried. John.

  19. Yep, I couldn't agree more. Let them have the keys - it's only a car.

  21. 1. I want the opposite, I like how understated they are. Quiet quality over street cred any day. 2. I’m fine with the ECVT. Read bad things on the reviews but didn’t see the issue myself 3. That’s okay. 4. Yeah that worries me the most, I’m just hoping I can live with it or add the CarPlay option by installing a vLine box. 5. Not bothered. I don’t see the IS as an old persons car at all. My only other concern is I’ve read that the drivers seat bolster gets badly worn quite quickly which isn’t good. For such an expensive car that will annoy me.

  23. I'm almost certain it does. In fact isn't resetting the yaw sensor just doing the zero point calibration? Done that at least half a dozen times with Techstream.

  25. My passion is the old air cooled Porsche marque and i was lucky enough to invest in some a few years ago when reasonably priced. Now retired i have restored them so have plenty of summer fun car experience. I was looking for an everyday car which will not be used much and struggle to find anything i really liked until i saw the SC430. Its 2005 so cheap tax, high miles but with a lot of work having been done to it and in beautiful condition. It was very fairly priced so if it lasts me a few years and goes phut i can break it for spares and get my money back. Happy days.

  27. Jack, I`ve looked at The Lexusman`s website and find that he has had some nice SC models. What is he like to deal with and are the conditions of his cars all that he says they are ? I am beginning to get an itch for an SC model as it looks like an older man`s Touring Car and I am in that category !

  28. Having had a couple of Prius in the past one of the more common issues I have come across with high mileage engines is rough running on start up when the ambient temp is low. Today on start up my IS300H started displaying the same symptoms. The cause is oil in the inlet manifold, on the Prius it was because of the crankcase venting system. So I pulled the tubing that runs from the air box to the throttle body off, opened up the throttle flap and this is what I found So first job will be to clean out the egr cooler next weekend, my feeling is that it will be pretty blocked as this plays a part in the whole breather system, from there I may need to look at fitting an oil catch tank if this doesn’t resolve the issue My IS has covered about 138,000 miles now and looks like now it will need similar remedial treatment that the Prius used to need Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  29. Been there a couple of times with other car clubs and enjoyed the day including the off road circuit which I trust is still available. Will attend if other commitments allow.

  30. I'll keep an eye on this. An LOC meet would be excellent. I notice someone else mentioned Japfest earlier. Another event I'm determined to attend.

  31. Cut your losses and go for a 250 ( none of the DERV problems) if you like this model of car.

  32. P0125 code is insufficient engine temperature detected to switch to closed loop mode. The ecu has exceeded the wait period for the engine to get warm enough to go closed loop. So you're effectively running in cold engine mode. Like running with the choke on all the time. Fix that issue first so the engine management goes into closed loop mode and uses the oxygen sensors to check the mixture. You can't look at the lean running issue until the engine management goes into closed loop mode. Insufficient engine temp could be a bad or disconnected coolant temperature sensor. Or there could be no coolant getting to the sensor to warm it up. A simple OBD2 reader will give a live reading of engine temp. A broken sensor may read low, or get to a certain temp and stop increasing. You'd have to check to see which it is.

  33. Probably for the best. Otherwise they could have confronted him, his partners or possibly children to get them... I saw this posted on facebook. Reg is MV58 CJX. Link to post, with updates from the owner. https://m.facebook.com/groups/505251549484871?view=permalink&id=3687586817917979

  34. Ah... just found this so perhaps the above is wrong, it's as clear as mud! Sorry but actually this information is incorrect. The sc430 body features have not changed since it was introduced in 2002. This is a hardtop system not a convertable system, the windows do NOT roll down at all when opening/closing the doors. The only time that the windows will move on this car (other then when commanded by you using the switch) is when the top is put down....as you know all the windows roll themselves down at this time. I hope this clarifies, let me know if you have any questions. I have extensive knowledge in this car and have literally torn these completely apart and reassembled during factory training.

  35. Hi Les, I just tried this on the https://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu site and the button does pop up for me. Does your web browser block anything that might prevent the button from displaying?
