  1. At least my reply here stirred some interest for this meet 😂

  2. Thanks all for the replies. I'm purchasing an extremely well looked after example from a forum member on here. It's a well known car on the forum. Looking forward to joining the 'F' club! Joe

  3. Anybody seen this article .https://www.modernclassicsmagazine.co.uk/driving/lexus-is-f?utm_source=mod_newsletter&utm_medium=email it is not the first time an ISF has been featured .

  4. Yep. Fair point but I guess this depends on the integrity and skill level of said scum bag who nick's it. Professionaly stolen to ship abroad as an asset it's just moved somewhere to see if the police turn up. I would have that back as I have lavished love and attention on the old girl and spent ages cleaning the inside of the fuel filler cap for heavens sake. 🤣 And who's to say he most irresponsible guy to get to drive my car is me. 🤣 Recovered from a ditch and full of KFC crap well that's a different matter as that might be hard to love again.

  5. I also like estates and so bought a Toyota Auris hybrid estate. As it's a 2015 model its RFL is £0. Who knows if it will rise, but a big draw and hopefully 60mpg. It certainly isn't luxurious like a top spec Lexus, but hope it serves me well. I have driven old cars since passing my test. All old Volvo estates 1986 740GLE for 5 years. 1989 240 for 10 years. current 1996 940 for 3 years. All daily drivers and reliable. James

  6. its still 55 dollars to ship (Fedex international priority) for one set, but they are on discount at a moment, so kinda took care of the shipping cost. Now just a matter of finding someone who is willing to fit them for me.

  9. I've got Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 2 on mine, which are equal to Michelin CC in most reviews, so don't discount them from your choices as they truly are excellent tyres.

  10. I'm running a wider setup too. I was running 40psi ok stock but it was too wayward when driving so reduced to 36psi cold. Been fine

  11. I have recently fitted the Viofo A129 Duo Pro 4k versions. Really good quality, and very happy. Rear Cam did create interference issues with the DAB radio, making it cut out a bit. Added ferrite beads and problem solved. Quality of pictures both night and day and the app on the phone to download clips if you want them is great. I wanted something that just did its job and you can forget it unless something happens. the Viofo fitted the bill for me.

  12. So am I. Were I to have started this thread in relation to the 2019 model I would have called it All-Over Filth. I don’t recall the 2016 model’s front tyres throwing up as much dirt before the mud-flaps were fitted, and I can only explain the difference in terms of the changed aerodynamics, minor as they are.

  13. What a load of rubbish! A height sensor linkage can be had from eBay for about £40 - £50 if I remember right, or if it's the electrical part of the sensor then they can also be had from eBay for about a tenner. At worst, any garage can do it but at best it's even DIY-able. Search the forum as there are quite a few threads about this very thing - here's just one of them: And here's the physical linkage on eBay so just click here

  14. Slight clarification... the £320 per year applies for 5 years, but it's years 2-6 of the car's life. First year: Showroom tax/first year tax/etc 2-6: LCT (luxury car tax) + VED So, my Model 3 has so far cost me zero VED because its first year rate is 0 as a ZEV. But later this year I'll have to pay its first LCT when it reaches 1 year old. Another entertaining wrinkle with this is that the second owner of a car must pay LCT immediately. In other words, if you buy a model 3 from a speculator who bought it to immediately resell at a profit then you'll have to pay LCT when you register the car in your name.

  15. Yep - all petrol/diesel cars registered after April 2017 pay £145 per year regardless of emissions after the first year. Alternative fuel vehicles including hybrids, bioethanol and liquid petroleum gas cars registered after April 2017 pay £135 per year regardless of emissions after the first year. Zero emission (full BEV) cars pay nothing. However, you have to pay an extra £320 a year on these figures if you have a car (and accessories) with a ‘list price’ (the published price before any discounts) of more than £40,000. So even full BEV cars like Tesla have to pay £320 per year if their list price is over £40,000. For a Lexus with a list price over £40,000 you would therefore have to pay £455 per year - worth being very careful checking the list price including any additional packs/accessories if you are close to the £40,000 threshold... The additional £320 applies for 5 years from new and then reverts to the standard amount after that (benefiting buyers of older second hand cars).

  16. On FB Colin said he'd bought it unseen hence my leap of faith comment. That said, you know the story of mine and 3.5k miles in it's still going strong. Another thing you should look at straight away Colin is to check for rust under the car. If it's sourced from further south then fair enough but I looked at the underneath of a 400h that had spent its life around Aberdeen and it was very badly corroded.

  17. Doesn't surprise me - the WLTP really shows how relatively poor SUV fuel consumption is - the old system could hide this due to the way the test was conducted but the WLTP really shows up the overall cars efficiency for the basically the same power train as a saloon. However this first year tax is buried in the initial purchase price so no-one will really notice paying it since subsequent years is the same flat rate for all cars regardless of emissions (other than the +£40k list price uplift). There was a recent report that said despite all the work on cleaner engines emissions are still rising due to the massive shift to less efficient SUVs.

  18. Front tyres (ISF only) can wear unevenly on inner edge due to a poor lower bush design. Mine were down to canvas, when the rest of the tread was only half worn. Fixed the issue with a pair of aftermarket bushes (USRS). Not sure of anything other than that. If it's a good brand of rubber, one would assume the owner has taken care of them too.

  20. Unfortunately not many breakers list the part numbers. My local parts guy suggested something I hadn't thought of which was to look at breakers that were also selling the rear view mirror with the button on. That guarantees photochromic glass if they're selling wing mirrors too. However, I came across this the other day. It's part of a press pack for the facelifted GS and lists all the standard and optional specs. Very handy and shows that all mirrors were auto dimming on the facelifted cars. So now I just need to find one from a post-2000 car of which there are quite a few. 1414686217141010DM1GS430GS300UKlaunchpack2000.doc

  22. dandydons car in the for sale section on here, despite the higher mileage, has fantastic service history record, and is still under Lexus warranty. It's well within your budget, too. Good Luck!

  23. Failing that, if you visit www.amayama.com and enter your VIN number, it should shortlist the part numbers to those relevant to your spec of car. You can then cross-check the exact version of wing mirrors that you need.

  24. Put x2 new Avon’s on my RX300 in Nov after identifying the previous tyres needed replacing when buying the car. Been great so far. When I had my first RX300 back in 2008 I think I fitted General Grabber tyres, which to be honest were fine also.

  26. 36 when I picked up mine. I've had fast cars since my early twenties. Looking back on the amount of money I have wasted I would probably advise my younger self against it if I could, and tell him to get on the property ladder earlier. Not that he would listen!

  27. Purchased my ISF in June 2018 at 65 years old. Had many cars including a few V8's, and wanted one last one before I and they become dinosaurs. This was of course the best one. Part exchanged it after 13 months in July last year (at 66) for an RC300h, and I now waft about. Total cost of the F with depreciation, fuel, tax, insurance and a service, worked out at about 80p per mile. Goodvalue I think

  30. When I got my 2014 GS300h a couple of months ago the map update screen showed 'last map update was cancelled'. That irritated me no end so I resolved to do something about it and came across this thread. I visited the link: https://toyotamaps.online/map-updates/toyota-lexus-navigation-gen7-update I paid my $79 (£64.10) via PayPal and received a link to onedrive files. There are 8 of them and the total download size is about 14Gb. You then need to extract (one of the files is an extraction program) the files to a 64Gb Flash drive - I had a 64Gb SD card and a USB card reader but that didn't work. I contacted the vendor and he confirmed what I had already suspected - the car is fussy about the flash drives it accepts. So acquired a 64Gb San Disk Cruzer (other brands are available!) and extracted the files again. The total extracted size is just over 32Gb. You plug the flash drive in to the USB port in the cubby between the seats. Now you go to the map update screen and plug the flash drive in - this time it showed it was ready to update. You take a picture of the screen and email it to the vendor - he then sends you an activation/licence code. When you start the update the first thing is it asks you is to key in the code then it does a software update. This takes about 10 minutes, then you have to stop the car and restart. Now it's a bit worrying - the screen goes black for quite a few seconds but then it comes back and tells you the map update is ready to start and will take approx 98 minutes. (So you'd better be driving somewhere, even aimlessly, if you don't want the car to be idling on your drive for a couple of hours!) At last it tells you the update completed successfully. The map is updated to April 2019 and it was issued in October 2019, so now is as up-to-date as possible. Very happy! I know the navigation is nowhere near as good as you get for free on your phone but now my car is working properly for a reasonable cost. I suspect this isn't quite kosher but hey! it works, it's a reasonable cost and Lexus should offer this service (they used to, but have discontinued it) rather than tell you to go and be ripped off by a dealer!

  31. See here: https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/hybrid-health-check/ I was wrong about the 'irrespective of mileage' - there a panel on the right if you scroll down on the web site which says: Quote> Free warranty extension With each Hybrid Health Check, you receive an extra 1 year or 10,000 mile (whichever comes sooner) hybrid battery warranty extension, until your vehicle is 15 years old. Terms and conditions apply. <End quote
