  1. At 8am she went onto the ramp and 20mins later she had a new MOT with no advisories. We had only done just under 5k in the last year. On the clock 175,902. I love my Lexus.

  2. Yeah a bit tricky. I'm fortunate to have over 30 years in the body work repairs industry, so could go straight to it. The 2020 RCF rear bumper has been tweaked a bit to take the coloured insert. So it needed trimming to fit a 2015 bumper black section. I marked out a cut line to remove the tags which gave me a straight edge. Bit of filling on the edge just to create a better shape. (not shown here). Four bolts were fixed to the back of the insert with plastic repair glue and mesh. Drilled four clip holes at the bottom. Then paint and fit. Sorry. Didn't get all of the process

  3. I live near to Bristol and have had very good service from Lexus Bristol since 2005. Recently I noticed something had changed and that a lot of the staff I'd come to know had disappeared. Then I found out that they'd been taken over by Motorline. My most recent Lexus purchase was from the Cheltenham dealership. Nobody likes paying "booking fees" or whatever they call them and I'm sure that if Motorline noticed a decline in sales then they'd soon drop the notion - especially if car sales are hard to come by as we're told they are. Let's see if "power to the people" has any effect ?

  4. Yeah that's mine - I wouldn't call it Ilford tho 😝. I leave it front facing so people can't really tell what it is as the exhausts are a dead giveaway. Are you local?

  5. My version of a 2020 rear bumper set up. Its a genuine Lexus insert from a 2020 RCF fitted to the 2015 rear bumper.

  6. Hi I am looking to buy an IS250. I will be driving mainly non-motorway miles but I live in Milton Keynes where the roads are wide and open and you dont usually have too much traffic. I have heard and read that the IS250 is very heavy on petrol, I would have considered the diesel version but it does not come with an auto gearbox. How bad is fuel economy on the IS250? I will also be grateful if you can advise on what to look out for in the car I am considering to purchase? Lastly have any of you owned a BMW 3 series and IS250? If so can you adivse on how they both compare? I just love the IS250 but the only thing that appeals to me about the BMW 3 series is the fact it comes with an auto gearbox in diesel. Btw why on earth there is no auto option in the IS220d?

  9. Maybe the Lexus has evolved to identify some of your acquaintances as dodgy and decided not to read their texts! I was going to adopt a kitten to surprise the wife, I'm so glad the car didn't read their text which was "Your new pussy is ready, we know not to tell your wife."

  12. Finally I got my Flushing and filter change done, there is only one thing to say about this, recomended. The gearbox react much faster, most evident on gear down. Before i could drive the car upphill with rpm around 1000-1100. Now this is not possible because the gearbox will gear down and the rpm will rise, this is in the 30-60 km speed. I did'nt expect much difference but i got alot. I know Lexus say you dont have to change oil, thats rubbish in my opinion. My car have 250000km on the counter, mostly driven long distance.

  14. The old gals annual Hybrid health check was completed this morning at Lexus Sheffield, ODO was 124,686 miles and we got a...PASS 😃 Whilst waiting I came across this neat explanation of what's involved that I hadn't seen before; https://blog.lexus.co.uk/lexus-hybrid-health-check-2/ Maybe it'll help others too as it mentions the 15 year hybrid warranty which is a question that occasionally pops up on the forum.

  15. I’m in wickford BUT work out of Hainault depot on the underground, pass your car most days, tbh I’m not a lover of exact location being revealed where cars are concerned 😉......totally understand drive position too, she does look good ☺️

  16. Yeah, I hadn't realised that the 1UZ was so strong and able to handle more power. Much like the 2JZ, of a similar era, so makes sense. You read plenty about how smooth and reliable the v8 is but rarely hear how tuneable it is. That interior doesn't look like a nice place to be anymore but I bet it's a heap of fun with that many horses.

  17. Interesting remarks regarding the indicar development on the engine and its initial design criteria is it a myth or was the engine derived by Toyota for race cars and then developed for the LS400 by the F1 team.

  20. I can say that I have owned my 200d for over 3yrs and not had a single problem with it, fuel economy isn't the best for a diesel but who cares I love this car and intend keeping it for a few more yrs unless a nice ISF comes along..

  21. There has been a lot written about the IS220D and I have owned one with some of the issues well quoted on this forum. I now own an IS200D F Sport and have had it for 30 months. I had a few minor issues when I purchased it from Lexus Lincoln but all were dealt with by the dealer and Lexus warranty. Its now covered 88K. I advise you to check the vehicle you intend to buy as you would any other, but in my experience the two models are very different. Fuel economy is not brilliant , low to mid 40's. There are still some 220-D hang overs, 6th gear is useless unless on the motorway, its far to long legged. But, on the whole my IS200-D F Sport has been a great and very reliable car. It drives really well, after all , "its a Lexus". Just my personal experience and I'm sure there will be a number of differing opinions. I'm going to upgrade my Lexus shortly and will be sad to see this one go and looking forward to my next Lexus.

  22. When looking on AutoTrader, or any other car sales adverts, and see that 'ADMIN SCAM' I immediately close the page and go on to the next. They're chancers, and even if the car is at a good price, I still wouldn't buy, even if they knocked it off. To me it smacks of being disreputable.

  25. Sorry to here about this sounds like you got misled that's for sure. My mums other half works in vehicle body work and they get cars brand new off the ferry needing major body work and repainting and that's from a number of different manufacturers VAG, BMW, KIA/HYUNDAI ect. I recently bought a 19 years old jap import toyota crown and paid the RAC to inspect it as I take these descriptions people give witha pinch of salt, as perfect to one might be a dog to another. With the inspection you get a very detailed report and also a sort of warranty with regards to some components and it's only about £250 I paid if I remember

  27. Further to my previous, my brother in law went to QF for an MOT. He dropped the car off at 09.00 and walked into town. Ten minutes later QF ring him and tell him that his Cat is knackered. So he rings me and tells me that they must be right because the guy is holding it while he's on the phone and rattling it to prove the point. I advised him that there's no way they could take a red hot catalyst off the car and hold it to shake it about after ten minutes.

  29. Hi all It’s been 11 months since i started this post so it is now time for a update.😊 Car went back to the dealer on Monday regarding the screen as it was missing a line and radio was loosing reception when screen was on.🙁 I had taken a couple off pictures and sent them to the garage so they could see it was faulty. And got a call yesterday evening saying all sorted Brand new screen ( rear ) fitted under the warranty happy days Genuine Lexus one too checked it now want some frost to see if all is ok. Thank-you Lexus warranty has been a great help would never have bothered otherwise would have just had to live with it.😀 65mike 🎸

  34. Thanks for the advice guys. I've ultimately ordered the Brembo pads (P83154n). They've worked out at £55 as I could not use the discount code on them. So that's £230 for Brembo pads and discs for the front axle. Not too bad. Will have to keep an eye out on the rears 😫

  35. Much against my wishes, SWMBO took the now operational iQ to Kwikfit yesterday for four new tyres. Over the phone she'd been quoted £43 each for budget rubber. When she arrived at the appointed time, the budget tyres had - wait for it, and you won't believe this, been sold, and now only Super Duper Carlos Fandango Pirellis for £65+ were available. SWMBO isn't to be messed with though, and when she threatened to go elsewhere, the Pirellis suddenly came down in price. Not to the price of the budget tyres, but near enough to make it more palatable than going elsewhere. Me, I'd have taken it to the local independent tyre and exhaust place who have served me and my family well for 30+ years and refused to attend the course on ripping punters off. Why do I not like Kwikfit? I harbour grudges. Many years ago when I was young, naive and really should have known better, I took my 1.2 Nova there to have a new exhaust fitted. "Oh dear Sir, we've given your car a courtesy shock absorber test, and one of them is leaking. They must be fitted in pairs you know, but it's your lucky day, we have two in stock....". Never, ever again. Ever.

  36. I cannot get onto FB while at work, but I did notice on Gumtree last week that someone was asking all sellers of GS, IS, LS cars whether they still interested in seling. Did make me wonder if it was Dudley Dealer trying to hoover up anything going. All thsi makes me think its a bit like the wild west out there on the Web if you're not careful.

  38. Also bear in mind that this time of year ( in UK right now anyway) there are very few dry days and every time you get in car with wet shoes then all that moisture has got to actually go somewhere when you put heater on and dry them out!
    1 point
  39. Well... generally in any car with AC fitted you should have you AC all the time, this is not specific to your car or Lexus. This is because AC needs to be ON to stay lubricated and working. Considering time of the year, I would not be surprised if you car is steaming up without AC - it is wet outside, you car interior gets humid, you turn on the heating in the car and warm humid air hits the cold windows - what will happen next is simple physics... it condenses. Actually, I keep seeing people doing this all the time - turn on AC, wait until windows clears-up and then turning it off.. congrats - just dumped all the humidity which AC collected back into the car (you can even smell it) and windows will instantly steam-up again. Thinking about it, I never had a car without AC, so I don't actually know how it is to drive one, but since my very first car I have AC all the time, never turn it off... further I almost never use "fresh air" from outside, unless I am driving on the mountain road in Scottish highlands.... even then it doesn't take long to catch-up with some coal rolling diesel and car instantly stinks like burning rats + outside air is usually humid, so no good in winter and does not help with windows steaming-up So overall, you need to dry out the car and just keep using AC. I suggest next time after longer journey keep the car running for good 15 minutes with all windows closed and re-circulation+AC on Max heat, then for another 15 min on re-circulation+AC and Min heat.. cycle 2 times like that and you will get most of humidity out of the car. If for any reason you don't want to use AC, then the only other option is to put ventilation to windows at high setting, heat above normal (say 24-26C), "fresh air" and open rear window a little bit - this will eventually pull out the humidity with the heat, but it will take forever. In short you do not have any issue, just need to use AC more often. However, if you have AC on and car still steams-up you might have another issue - like leak or blocked AC drain.

  40. Mine has averaged 28 MPG (UK) over the last 3 years, you can see in the attached image the first year or so was mainly city driving where it can be quite thirsty however on the motorway it is in its element.

  41. It depends on what the app is capable of and how reliable it is. The app on my nissan Leaf was hopelessly unreliable and basically stopped working completely about 6 months before I got rid of the car. When it did work it had some useful features (turn heating on, check charge level, start/stop charging). The app for the Tesla is outstanding - control heater and heated seats, vent windows, close windows, unlock/lock, open frunk, trunk, charge port, etc. Shows the car's location (down to the specific parking spot), gives notifications when charging stopped or complete (to avoid being charged idle fees), etc, etc. Also allows repairs to be booked in through the app. Carplay and Android auto are merely car manufacturers waving a white flag - admitting that they can't do infotainment for $&i£ and giving up. Where a car is fitted with a good infotainment system that is responsive, clear and easy to use (Lexus - all of these things your infotainment is not) then what's the point of AA or carplay? What does it do that a properly sorted infotainment system doesn't?

  42. Sorry, don't know anything about BMWs, not keen on their over aggressive drivers ! I'm surprised you consider the IS250 thirsty. I do very local mileage, 5 miles to work and weekly supermarket trip of 30 miles and average 29mpg this Winter (only had car since November). I expect the mpg to improve somewhat through the Summer months. When I collected the car, I averaged 38mpg on a virtually all motorway run of 200 miles (70 to 75mph). When you consider, it is a very comfortable, luxurious car with a V6 2.5 litre engine and automatic gearbox........I think the economy is more than acceptable.

  43. My RX came from a Motorline Lexus dealer. I eventually ended up with the right car for me, but I wouldn't say it was a very pleasurable experience and next time I shall be more patient and buy from my local dealer who aren't part of that particular group....
