The situation will ease eventually but is likely to get much worse before it improves in terms of the number of those affected and of those that die. The damage done to businesses large and small and to the self employed is incalculable as is the cost to the economy. I think it will take many years for our population to enjoy the pre Coronavirus standard of living (and even before this we were living beyond our means). Viruses can mutate and become more virulent and it remains a possibility sooner or later that another will follow, so the people of the world should take a lesson from this virus and be better prepared for another pandemic.4 points

I'm not panic buying, merely discussing what is currently going on in society. With regards to panic buying you are preaching to the converted.1 point

Insurance companies have no issues with remote start via Apps. I can unlock, start our Tesla using my phone App, once unlocked/started you can drive without the key.1 point

I have now finished refurbishing the calipers: I am awaiting the brake hoses and a few other important bits, which hopefully will arrive in the next few days. At least then I can put the system back together and put the car back on its wheels. I did spend a lovely hour or so under the car this afternoon scraping off the flaking paint and loose rust, so hopefully that's one advisory I won't be getting. I have also ordered 4 new Kuhmo tyres, but have no idea yet when they can be fitted. I'll just have to wait and see. I also ordered several service items from Car Parts 4 Less, so they should be here next week. There are a few bodywork trim pieces that need replacing, namely both offside wheel arch trims and the lower corner trims under the front bumper. I rang Lexus Swindon and they quoted Ā£120 and Ā£150 respectively for the front and rear wheel arch trims. Ridiculous. The bumper trim pieces are much more reasonably priced at Ā£27.46 each. Mercedes-Benz's parts pricing strategy is equally inconsistent. One job I do need to do is remove the wiper arms and plastic scuttle cover to investigate where the water has been getting in. Hopefully it's something simple like a blocked drain hole, fingers crossed.1 point

It is believed to have come out of Wuhan and there are plenty of videos on Youtube showing the Wuhan Meat Market. If you've got a strong stomach here is one of them but don't watch if you're squeamish. However, having seen it myself, I'm not at all surprised that the virus first made the jump to humans there if that is indeed the case.1 point

My wife had greater success than me when she went Sainsbury's but be warned the booze section is virtually empty at times. She managed to get two boxes of the Merlot thank God, after all one just can't have a Pizza without several glasses of red wine1 point

Covid-19 is just another variant of the Corona virus family. In fact it's the 19th to be identified. These viruses have probably been around since before Homo Sapiens. Bats seem to carry them but are not affected by them. Other animals catch the virus from the bat poop or from close contact with the bats and the virus then mixes with other viruses in the animals body and sometimes creates a hybrid that can infect humans. Some of them we label as the common cold (along with Rhino-viruses and others), some are misidentified as Flu (Influenza virus) and in most the symptoms are so mild that they are dismissed as "feeling a bit kack". As for it's supposed "man-made" origin,... bollox! Covid-19 can affect anyone, regardless of age, but it tends to affect those with breathing/heart problems (whether or not they were previously known), so affects the elderly more percentage wise. In the UK a 21 year old girl has died from it, and Great Ormond Street Hospital has several young children on ventilators because of it.1 point

You're going to have to work on your conspiracy theories Herbs. That one's rubbish.1 point

That's a bummer, but at least you seem to have a plan in place. Puts my gripe into perspective, I went to buy my usual Toastie Wholemeal from Morrisons yesterday and there was a queue around the car park. My immediate thoughts were f**k this and drove off, I'm feeling a bit hungry now as I've no toast for my breakfast. I think I may have to have an attitude re-adjustment.1 point

That doesn't actually mean anything as the word "Coronavirus" is an umbrella term for a group of viruses, amongst which are SARS and MERS. Covid-19 is a coronavirus but it's a novel virus, which means that it's a new one that no one has ever seen before and it started out in animals. The initial route of transmission was animal to animal, then it mutated and made the jump from animal to human, and now it's human to human.1 point

Totally agree. I love the idea but waiting on more reviews when its closer to release. I went to my local dealer and as I was looking at the Alpine A110 I thought Id check out the Supra. I didnt get the drive it but I came away pretty disappointed with the interior, poor visibility etc. The A110 just felt much more like an occasion, visibility was much better (front), I must be getting old as Ive never fussed much about visibility before!1 point

I come to my assumption base on children are not affected. It's like it has been designed not to affect children. Given that most if not all diseases adversely affect those with weak immune systems - children/elderly & ill health people. I would go as far as saying I think USA planted this virus in China and Iran. It's easy to blame the Chinese for eating all sorts. Iran we know has not been conforming to uranium standards and as well attacked American bases. Every other countries are just part of collateral. I'm sure there are much more underlying reasons if it were man made. Of course this will never be proven either way.1 point

I used a Subaru legacy 2006 paddle shift. Required cutting away all but the switches of the Subaru assembly and designing/welding new fittings to attach it to the column. I've had to relocate the steering column adjustment switch and cut out parts of the plastic lower column cover. It all fits pretty well although it is a tight fit to avoid fouling the other column controls. In theory I understand the wiring but need to splice in some additional connections and find out which wire does what. Found quite a bit online but sadly nothing as simple as a colour chart for the wiring.1 point

I have the Fox exhaust fitted. Went for the straight cut tips and had them painted black. I contacted Fox in Germany directly to sort that out. It's louder than stock but there is a bit of drone now and then. My friend has the full H&S system with X-Pipe. The H&S sounds way better IMO and if I was to buy an exhaust again it would be the H&S.1 point

I am of the opinion that when you use a permanent seat cover all you are doing is paying premium for your seats and then using non premium to ride in and passing on to next owner brilliant condition seats for them to enjoy as you should have done. However for intermittent use to protect from dirty clothing then fine.1 point

I ran yellowstuff pads for a while. Nothing bad to say about them. They were superb. I currently have Ferodo DS2500's and although superb as well, not worth being twice as much as the yellowstuff pads. Will return to yellowstuff when it's time š1 point

Someone told me it costs more than new discs to have them skimmed but he does speak much nonsense so it may not be true! I've just started to get it as well but I'm guessing most LS owners do at some point.1 point
