  1. My 430 Sport is my first Lexus and it was bought as a daily to keep the miles down on my other cars... That being said I love the thing, its so comfortable and goes well for a large car... Mine had been 'played' with by the previous owner and IMO it looked awful... I could see through all this and it took a month to souce the standard bits needed to put back to how it left the factory cosmetically and now its back to a standard looking triple black (rare) GS430 Sport. I've just purchased a complete set of front suspension arms, ball joints, track rod ends and ant-roll bar bushes as theres a few front end knocks etc so when this is done it'll all be brand new and tight again... My son will take it off me in a year or so as he's fallen in love with it.

  5. I think I’ve reached the end of the work for a while now. After all the work I’ve done over the past few months, crawling underneath, kneeling for long periods in contortionist positions, constantly up and down etc plus everything else without doing any major damage to myself, I’ve done something to my right knee simply walking down some steps this morning and will need to rest up until it’s better. Something just ‘went’ and I can’t bend it or put weight on it but I’m still alive and will continue with work on the car in the future, don’t know what yet but I’ve got plenty of time to decide 😀 I won’t even get chance to use a new polisher/buffer kit I bought, the one I have started making some strange noises and didn’t feel right. The new one is a Rupes Bigfoot..............not cheap at all but you get you pay for like anything else in my opinion. Malc, the work on your car will need to wait for a while😀 when all this virus situation has got better and you are in Kirkham maybe we can meet up for a beer and a chin wag🍻

  6. Always reminds me of the trek I made to work for a Company that sold Soaps shaped as Toys (Cliro Perfumeries) to major Retailers, from two basement Basement Offices in Nottingham Place, W1. Of the time - Star Wars! Had to get the tube to the newly restored Baker Street from Liverpoool St Station and a short walk to Nottingham Place. Much time was spent by the staff checking to avoid the Directors' two Ferrari's from getting Parking Tickets.

  10. Left hand drive is ok when you get used to it. I've had a chevy dayvan daily driver and a 1955 Cadillac coupe de'ville. A bit hairy when you first start driving them but you soon adapt. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

  11. @Mincey I think this merits a 'tenuous claims to fame' thread all of its own! My absolute favourite was seeing Kirsty McColl in a crowded bar in Camden. As a huge fan, I had to try and speak to her - she made it pretty clear she just wanted to be left alone, which was fair enough really. We often used to unwind after work in the Cellar Bar at The Landmark hotel, and there were often recognisable people down there, including Noel Gallagher relatively often. One of my colleagues - I wasn't there - once saw and spoke to Slash from Guns 'n' Roses there, and said he was simply delightful, a really nice guy with time for everybody.

  12. I studied in Central London and had the same experiences - doing the Pavement Tango with Sir Trevor McDonald, pressed up against Alice Beer (who was very small and probably still is) on a crowded Tube Train, sitting on the tube opposite PC Carver from The Bill, watching DLT being heckled by passers by on his way to the BBC, passing by both Armstrongs (ITN newsreaders) on New Cavendish Street, having to run out of the way of Mark Knopfler has he drove along Regent Street, seeing Derek Jameson and his Mrs doing a piece for camera outside the Beeb, spying Mike Read ("Mike Read, Mike Read, 275, 285 National Radio One...", not the "Riiiicky" one) driving into what is now Wogan House, watching Leticia Dean getting dropped off at her flat and then being admonished by the taxi driver as he passed for "ogling Sharon" (we weren't!) and bumping into Samantha Fox outside Tower Records on Piccadilly Circus. She was small too. Who else? Enoch Powell, The Queen Mum (in a cavalcade), I could go on, but had better not!

  14. Welcome Mo. 1 - No, doesn't damage the vehicle. 2 - some things to look out for are listed here: 3 - Beyond normal servicing (which is minor / major / minor / major etc. every 10k miles/1 year), the things to check are spark plugs every 60k miles and timing belt every 100k miles).

  15. Hey Guys, I hope you are well? I recently spent about 5 hours enhancing the paint on my 2007 Lexus IS 250. The roof was almost grey!! I am soo happy with the final result, I definitely recommend sealer glaze and waxing your car if it needs some love 🙂 I made a video of the process I followed/conducted if anyone wants to see the before and after. Enjoy, Thomas

  17. Hi guys, thank you for your advice! Yes the high Tax is a bit of a put off as it doubles from how much I pay on the GS450h. Thinking about it all gives me a headache. It’s tempting to just get the GS fixed and keep it running for another year and revisit this situation next year!
