  1. Hi everyone, bought my GSF back in sept last year & has been in storage since, only just pulled it out this week as weathers been nice. Booked it in for a gold clean package at Voss in south wales. Ordered the Toms mirror & fender carbon trims & applied them too. Have spacers on so the rims sit nicely in line with bodywork, especially the rears make it look more aggressive. Going to get the front end PPF protected. Heres a few pics. Sorry should have taken some close ups.

  2. I’ve come to the conclusion that most MOT advisories are to cover the tester’s back side, a prime example is “under cover fitted” Take a look at part of my history from it’s 2007 MOT, those original brake hoses and discs mentioned over 13 years ago are still on the car in good condition and never been flagged up since. Regarding the tyres OK “close to legal limit” but still legal with possibly a tracking adjustment needed. But if you were selling the car would you spend £250.00 on tyres and tracking knowing you would not recover the cost.

  3. Why don`t you write to HJ Barry and offer your services? You will need to reduce your 13 lines of answer to something more manageable for the space available in todays publications, but at the very least you will add much needed gravitas to the current crop of poor motoring journalists.

  4. This, and also it depends a lot on whether the tester happens to work at a garage who are likely to pick up the repair work if it doesn't pass (or advisories if it does). If possible it's a good idea to go to a testing station that doesn't do repairs as they have nothing to gain by putting down stuff that isn't really necessary.

  5. T`was my initial reaction too Roger. We have attracted some super Indian talent by trying to keep them on our side too.

  6. I hope that this message finds all LS owners (and others) fit and well in these strange times. I had a good day yesterday because I was able to pay off the final lump of finance on my LS600h with Lexus Financial Services so I now own this fine vehicle outright. I've still got over a year left on the manufacturer warranty that was supplied with the car (3 years in total) so intend to keep it until this time next year at least. I just need to get a couple of new front tyres and she'll be in fine fettle. At that point, who knows what to do next. Keep it and enjoy it. I don't think I'll find a better example. Upgrade to a newer model? I was also quite taken with the LC but I don't know if I could live with the almost unusable 2 rear seats.

  7. What's the best big engined car for £3000? I have a small budget of about £3000 and I see I can afford old Chrslyer 300C, old Audi A8 or A6, old BMW 7 Series and a big Lexus. I like big engined cars, so which do you think ages better and will possibly cost less in the long run? In summary, best stupid car for £3000. Asked on 29 May 2020 by Chris Answered by Andrew Brady Honestly? They could all cost a fortune to keep on the road. An old Lexus is probably your best option but even then you'll need deep pockets for maintenance and fuel costs

  8. Our first time on this forum and thank you for your suggestions. I will do the releasing from the inside tomorrow and then charge the battery. Thank you for your help - much appreciated. Stay safe Richie

  9. Hi Herbie. Think I will go for the releasing the tailgate from the inside option 🙂. Thanks

  10. Pretty sure the word "approved" in the context of any car sale just means they approve of you handing over your money. Means very little else. Selling used vehicles is unfortunately a business where it probably pays quite well to not be entirely honest all the time.

  11. All sorted now. A new engine start has rebooted the system has returned the navdb to 2020 v1. Well done, Phil, on both the Audio and navdb. :)

  12. Yes, the LS, GS and SC all shared the same engine and transmission but the introduction of the 6-speed was dependent on new model/face-lift release schedule, so it came to the LS first, then GS and finally the SC.

  13. No problem! I think the blocked hose was just a stab in the dark from a sales exec to the issue of the old battery when I was asking him about fitting the original hose into the new one. I never mentioned the exact issue, just that it needed replacing. Not sure if a blocked hose could damage a battery so it would drop below 12 volts, I just thought it was there as a safe way for the gases to escape.

  14. Unless you can do work yourself, I think it is important to factor in a few £ for maintenance. I had a few bills for both of my LS400s at an independent garage. The expense was never huge, thankfully, but should definitely be factored in.

  15. Fair point with the fuel but that can obviously be said about any large engined petrol motor. But deep pockets for maintenance? Really?

  16. You’re welcome, Just bear in mind a cheap part will probably be of inferior quality which is not something you need with a critical suspension component. Take a look on Rockauto.com prices are generally half the UK ones and shipping is fast, prices also include UK VAT so no hold up in UK customs. Bolts have been known to seize in the arms, if you are planning DIY fitting I would suggest a good spray of WD40 the night before.

  17. Good to hear that the LS430 is staying in the club. Let us know how you get on with the Range Rover. 🙂

  18. Check if it keeps dropping or whether it has just got to its natural level. My wife's old RX300 always spat out coolant until the level was below minimum - was always that way for the 4 years we had it.

  19. A reasonable amount. You are best to hook up diagnostic equipment to the OBBII port to see where the long term fuel trims are. As you say there could be a vacuum leak or an O2 sensor not working as well as it should.

  20. Yes worth a go, and also check if it makes a difference if the AC is on or off. It is possibly just because the idle is a little too low - it may be better when AC is on as the engine revs are normally increased to help with the increased load.

  21. What is the idle speed when in D?

  22. @B1 RMA (car has only done 2000 odd miles since the last service). I'm in similar territory with only 1000 miles since service in October and 3000 since last MOT which is due now. As a second car I'm simply not using the her enough which is a shame so thinking about selling. Have to agree on the Warrenty point though on cost and longevity. Mine runs to March 2022 when the car will be 13 years old! Bless you Lexus. Bless you Lexus too for giving me 3 months extra free due to covid. Where else can you find such a car still under a great warranty? Hold on a min....it sounds like a car I should buy not sell🤣

  23. The good thing about that Malc is that we may well have an infusion of entrepreneurial wealth creators, just like when Idin Amin expelled the Indians from Uganda. Beijing is considering counter measures so they must be pi**ed off about the loss of talent.

  25. Hi, I have a 2016 RX450h and, concerned about cat thefts in our area, I challenged the local dealer's service manager about Lexus' response. The information I got in reply , over a series of questions and answers was: 1. The Gen 4 RX primary cats are in the engine bay and hence not that accessible for theft. 2. There is a secondary Cooler cat device located under the floor of the drivers seat which is used for "advanced engine heating" what ever that is. 3. Lexus "are unaware of the RX450h being targeted at present which is due to the Cat containing less precious metal than the RX400h. With this in mind, there is currently no locking device in development " This was in March this year so if your dealer was now offering a fix, perhaps the position has changed. Does anyone else know any different?
