  1. This post may be helpful regarding the different trim levels for the GS450h: The GS450h Sport models were equipped with APSSS and factory bodykit, but lacked sunroof and radar cruise control. May have come standard with rear privacy glass as all the ones I've seen seem to have been tinted, but other may confirm this. Rare trim level within the already sparse GS450h.

  2. Hmm, so I decided to get the light clusters off this morning and am not having much luck I can see 2x10mm nuts that look to be the only ones holding the cluster, but loosening them and trying gently to prise off the cluster is not working. Am I missing another fastening, or are the clusters likely to be held on with sealant? Edited to add that I'd missed the obvious one on the edge of the tailgate. Job done, so just have to wait until tonight to see how good they are.

  3. Loads of RXs in UK, definitely not too large for our roads! There are many other vehicles, larger around...

  4. I have the Blitz "Sma Thro" fitted to mine. Installation is pretty straight forward and it comes with a Toyota bracket to replace a redundant blank in the drivers control area. The module itself has around 10 throttle settings. I have mine set in "Sport" but the lowest setting for that sub category as I find the throttle is way too aggressive even for a spirited drive! Cost was around £140 inc tax via Amazon Japan. Its a great little box as I now no longer need to flick the dial to sports mode to have the snappy response. Putting it into sport mode now the throttle response is even more snappier than before. In fact its too aggresive 🙂 There are "Auto" modes in which it can learn in time but I haven't played around with it yet. Downside, In its current installation you will need to push the button to activate it everytime you start the car, there is an optional harness that it comes on regardless, however I'm happy with the current setup. It doesn't increase BHP, 0-60 times etc however the throttle response is alot crisper and I find sometimes when approaching roundabouts the acceleration is simply not there. But this eradicates the problem for me. 2018-0023EN.pdf

  5. A decent upholstery repair guy can make those seats look like new at a reasonably cost .as he doesn't work for lexus (toyota) 🙊

  7. Herbie, "Flooring it " and driving a Lexus, seems a contradiction in terms to me.

  8. Is it really so bad that the whole car unlocks Geoff? My 2013 RX has a remote with three buttons - lock, unlock and one that if I 'long press' will open/close the tailgate. As I'm walking to the car I press the unlock (whole car unlocks) and then long press for the tailgate to start opening and by the time I'm there it's open. Put stuff in the 'boot', press the close button as I start to walk away and then press the lock button, whole car locks again. Does your's not do that? And yes, that's just the sound that eCVT systems make. Try not to 'floor it' all in one go and see if that helps.

  9. Just tried the wireless adapter. A bit fiddly to setup at first due to the way the remote touch controller interfaces with the setup screen, but once running appears to work well. Just been for a 20 min trip and Google Maps and my music ran perfectly.

  10. I use Shell V power, why?, I don't really know, I just feel like i should, as i do low millage the cost doest really come into it. My only thought is that because i only do short trips it will help keep the ending clean. On another note, it just passed its MOT, mind you i think they spent more time looking around the car than actually carrying out the MOT

  11. You mean 1140 - it is after the CarPlay upgrade. It shouldn’t even work before the upgrade as the model number of your system will be different at that point. The retrofit changes the model number of both the DCU (Audio) and MEU (Navigation).

  12. I think the retrofit notification is part of the retrofit upgrade and not the 1140 software. However, the first time I accessed the Lexus Online part of my system was after I'd done the 1140 upgrade (and connected to my WiFi)

  14. I have noticed that car dealers have gone away from letting you see the workshop through viewing windows .when my lexus was mot'd I did mention can I view my car being mot'd which is your right to do so .My question was met with a look of confusion, I didn't push the issue as I though the days of a crazy grease monkey smashing a wrecking bar against your seals was a thing of the past .there new thing is ooh sir your suspension bushs are perishing with with slight movement ( of course they have movement it's bloody rubber with a 3 foot pry bar pushing on them )and bang there all on as an advisory lol and a estimate to replace them it's like a double glazing salesman has entered the building and is going to brain wash you into either replacing everything or even worse you drive out in a new Lexus lol . There is a film by Jim Carey call yes man don't be that man be a no man always untill your away from any scenario involving someone trying to get you to say yes man 🤑

  15. Can one not use the sport setting on the transmission and manually select a lower/lowest gear in preparation for the swift manoeuvre? It's what I do if "making progress" in traffic, for the quick overtake.

  16. Looks to be behind the Lexus badge, realised when I took mine off during radiator swap. Didn't realise you could use the cruise like a traditional cruise control rather than adaptive either!

  17. Each to their own, but I can not for the life of me see how the back of the GSF can be classed as ‘ugly’. Sorry didn't mean to offend.

  18. I saw another post with a picture of the proposed new isf a few weeks ago and it looked quite good in that photo. Presumably they haven't finalised exactly what is will look like and the photos vary? I really was originally keen on the gsf to replace my isf, but got an rcf instead in the end which I am really pleased with.

  20. I have a 2014 GS premier. The leather on the seats is beautiful and soft. However, I am not sure if the leather on the door cards and armrests are real. They feel lovely but different from the seats. It's definitely not alcantara but not sure what it is!

  22. I do... They are brilliant. A few times. I've had them sent to a garage and paid them to fit them. For my car and my wife's - never let me down.

  24. to be fair, I had the same issue with my IS a few weeks after I bought it (2yr old at the time), Lexus dealer said trim issues are not covered by warranty and sent me away. I found a simple fix, with some felt tape, took me 5mins... that dealer would have retained by business if they could have been bother to help.... soon learn the good and bad ones.

  25. The RX problem vs the NX is that the RX is too big for European / UK roads & City . Much easier to park a NX in downtown Paris or London . i was looking to buy a RX last week and they are still very pricey here in France . For a 2015/2016 car with approximately 60 000/ 80 000 it' still 40 000 euros. i finally decide to go on a NX that i found yesterday : NX F Sports ( Full Options ) with 17 k km 2 years 37 000 euros ( pricey too ) . i just think that French or UK people juste wanna have a Compact SUV. RX is for the US .... BUT the RX is **** beautifulllllllll ( Gen 4 )

  27. Has had a good clean and polish - dont let that sway you as all cars can look good after a good clean. Best way as to go and see it. Usual things for buying a car but make sure the following are all good ... Brakes not seized / exhaust is good / recalls done / electricals all work. Uneven tyre wear (insides) can be expensive so check they are not worn. White crust at the front of the engine indicating water pump starting to leak.

  29. Got mine repaired today 500mm length of mild steel pipe (54mm internal) fits over the rear end of the exhaust and into the front section, tacked it on under the car then dropped the exhaust off and it on the bench .Pipe was £12 ish off eBay, welder a few beers, just over an hour all told.

  30. I've had my RC for about 18 months now and as others have already pointed out it's designed to be a GT car rather than a sports car. Having said that the car has good predictable handling though there's lots of intervention from the electronics when pushed hard. The computer nannies will rarely let you get messy unless you turn them all off (and in fact you can't fully disable it all - it will still kick in if you get into real trouble). The steering is quite direct and the 4 wheel steering is lovely for carving corners at speed once you get used to the feel of it. However be careful what tyres you put on it. I currently have Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres on the car and they are not a good choice for driving around town, outstanding grip in the dry but prone to tram tracking and not great in the wet. If you are buying the car from brand new the Bridgestones that come as standard will be fine. Otherwise, go for the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres - the car has no camber adjustment of course so the choice of tyres really matters. The car will under steer when pushed to the limit around corners and that's when you really notice the fact that its a relatively heavy car at around 1700 kgs, but its fairly predictable and rarely twitchy, so you can have confidence in it. The ride is in my view the perfect compromise between sporty and luxury, though the tyres will make a difference of course. The active damping suspension seems to work well on rougher roads. Note that the suspension in the RC is different to the IS. As for power delivery I have an RC 350 which is a V6 so I don't have experience of how the power train in the 300 performs. The 8 speed Aisin transmission is a traditional torque converter type that shifts reasonably quickly with useful ratios and no hunting or confusion in changes, even when driving around town in stop start traffic. The brakes are excellent but bite a bit faster in my experience that other cars I have had, but you adapt quickly. Comfort is great, I really love the seats and the cabin is wonderful. The back seats are in my view really too small for adults (this car is really a 2+2 rather than a 4-seater) and if you are tall its almost impossible to get into the back. Doors are fairly long but that rarely causes me any dramas. There are really very few annoyances indeed - I find the infotainment system clunky to use but voice control works well and helps you avoid some of the need to dive into menus. I don't like the adaptive headlights and just turn that off, and I also don't like the indicator switch - they have gone for that silly BMW style switch where the stalk doesn't stay in the on position. These are however minor annoyances, otherwise I am really loving the car. Its my first Lexus and I look forward to driving it more that the German cars I used to buy in the past. The build quality is really superb. Hope you find this useful in helping you choose. Cheers Nicholas.

  31. Ditto. Just remember this is a seriously luxurious cruiser that can be swift when required. It is not a sports coupe. However I do prefer the RC on longer spirited road trips as it is just so comfortable compared to the weekend thrasher......

  32. Anything is possible... depends whether you are happy to spend the money on a car of that age or put the loot towards a car with it already fitted. 🤔

  33. Honestly, get whatever you like but be aware of the quality of the stuff you're getting. In my experience, cheap wheels, especially made by manufacturers I've never heard of are made of chocolate. Hit a pot hole at 60mph and you'll be soon riding on hexagons. I stay away from that now, but I understand budget always plays a role in these decisions.
