  1. Feeling fulfilled and, if I'm honest, slightly smug - first let me tell you a story... It was a dark and stormy night, well actually it was last November when I bought my LC, just couldn't wait for the good weather, just had to buy it! We always enjoy a great road trip and our favourite destination is Scotland. You can imagine how much we were looking forward to talking the LC for a tour. Finally, last week we managed to get away, I have to say it was amazing, taking a true GT across mountain passes and straight open roads. We covered just over 1200 miles, not quite the NC500 but all the places we love none the less. As you can imagine, with a car needing regular fill ups, we planned a little to make sure we weren't caught short. Previous we hadn't bothered so much as we've toured around in a diesel BMW.... So we planed for 20/25 mpg based on fairly spirited driving, which we did. Imagine my surprise when the final average for the whole trip came out at - wait for it - 35.5mpg, even reaching 39.1mpg on one of the days. So, as well as having a wonderful time roaring through the Glens in a big and soulful V8, we even saved on our fuel budget - can't wait for our next road trip.

  2. Front dampers replaced and test drove really well 😃 Almost finished with the underbody prep, it looks much better under there now. Both front and back.

  3. By purchasing now you are locking in today's prices but expending money before you need to. Typically Lexus revise their warranty pricing at the start of the calendar year, but in theory could do it anytime - and prices could decrease, stay the same or increase, although a decrease is highly unlikely. Given you aren't far away from a warranty renewal I'd probably do it before the end of Dec to get the 24 months for £995 price, but wait for the service plan until nearer the time or if your dealer makes you a good offer (worth asking them for a price and then stating you will hold off for now to see if they do try and persuade you). But this is really a personal decision.

  4. you need to contact the warranty administrator: Lexus Customer Services, TWG Services Limited, The Aspen Building, Floor 2, Vantage Point Business Village, Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire, GL17 0AF Tel: 0330 100 3299

  5. Sorcerer used two relays but it's possible and even easier to use just one - here's a rough sketch of what you need: An ignition switched feed is taken to Pin 30 (common). Pin 87A is the 'normally closed' contact, which means that under normal conditions, when the ignition is switched on, power will flow from Pin 30 to Pin 87A and out to illuminate the DRLs. Because the DRLs must switch off when you switch the side/tail lights on, you need to tee into the positive feed to one of the sidelight bulbs and connect it to Pin 85. Pins 85 and 86 are the relay coil, so when Pin 85 goes positive as you switch on the sidelights, the coil energises and pulls the relay contact away from Pin 87A to Pin 87, therefore breaking the conductive path to the DRLs and switching them off. I can't remember which ignition switched fuse I used but you may be able to tell from the photo below - I think it was the one on the bottom row, which I think is IGCT No.5 on the drawing. Check it with a multimeter first.

  6. Hey gang! Sorry took me a while to get back here 🙂 Hope you guys are keeping well. How much does it cost to replace all 4 corners brake discs and pads? I am also going to look into compound polishing it and ceramic wax spraying for a bit of protection... There some swirl marks to get rid of from the previous owners washes I assume... These usually have soft paint and thin finish I hear - any tips on this would be greatly appreciated too. Stay ssafe everyone!

  7. @Spacewagon52 I take no credit for the heater work, even I left that to someone else.

  8. Looks like your valve cover gasket is leaking. If it's never been done before it'd be worth checking your PCV valve and cleaning/replacing it also. If the crankcase is over pressurised the oil vapours will find there way out through various seals and gaskets in the engine. For peace of mind I'd just replace the PCV and valve cover gasket as they're relatively inexpensive and not difficult to change.

  9. I honestly don't know as I've never needed to do it but I don't think you'll need to do that either. Just clean up the contacts in the bulb holder, clean and reseat the earths and if that hasn't cured the problem then it's multimeter out and fault-tracing time.

  12. Hi David you're very welcome. The splitter cable sounds like a good solution. My car is on its second Alpine so now has an INE-W987D HU and many other silly enhancements to improve the audio experience over stock. It's a long (not so) well documented story but if you like the stock look, I would give it a miss. My car is not for the SC430 purist 🤣🙃 but a Soarer fan might understand the intent. There's some good threads on cameras worth searching. WiL 44 has the best solution I've seen so far.

  13. Thanks! Really happy with this car it was very well taken care off. The car came it felt so much better inside than I expected for a 10 year old car. If has aged so well! I was not disappointed with the drive or aesthetics. These are the pictures from the advert , Its rained a little and haven't had too much time to admire the car yet. This weekend will be me and the lexus 😄 This is an SE-i not the SE-L so missing 2 or 3 things from being fully loaded but I'm not phased by that

  14. Front dampers, old and new. The old drivers side is damp with oil/darker, was leaking from the rusty bracket. Once the spring was removed, you could easily move the damping rod, it's definitely broken. All back together now and the underside has been treated and sealed. Looks much better. Will upload some pics tomorrow as I ran out of daylight today.

  15. Just a thought: 259 plus 106 is 365. Maybe they mean 106 days are wet (not dry) but nobody noticed that the figures didn't make sense before they issued the press release.

  16. Today they recalibrated the VGRS and configured the horizontal position of the steering wheel. It seems to be good now.

  18. Looks a very good car. Advertised correctly as a SE I. As for the exhaust look on ebay. There's a very good rear section for a very good price.

  19. I use one of these from http://cdslotmount.com/ and it works perfectly. It doesn't interfere with playing CDs if that's your thing, it doesn't scratch or mark in any way whatsoever, and it just does what it says on the tin. I don't like having to plug a USB adapter into the cig/power socket so I've also installed a dedicated USB socket to plug my phone into.

  21. I hope you enjoy your gs f as much as I enjoy mine. Not seen one for sale for a while bit one has just appeared on lexus website that had a previous famous owner!

  22. Indeed, forgot to welcome you Erik as a new owner. Don't forget Sport + and the paddles for changing gear. Sod the fuel consumption it makes very little difference and at £1.06 for Sainsbury's premium why not

  23. Almost forgot. @Erkeen RK. Congratulations on the new car and welcome to the club. Looking forward to seeing some photos.

  24. I contacted the local Lexus HQ for complaints. Despite this car is virtually brand new, I had to spend the last 1+ month with weekly visits to the dealership. I had a front brake replacement, realigned wheels, the fuel pump / engine fault thing. The attitude of the dealership is very dissatisfying either.
