  1. Thanks John, I think I will give the present battery a chance and see how it responds to more use

  2. True, and I'm bound to say this but the 430 has even more!

  4. I have read the same on some USA LOC, but I will have a look, as I am curious as to how much of a pain it could be even if it ends up with me deciding too much bother I just need to find time to have a good look, trouble is that other DIY jobs keep getting in the way, and as I only drive the car about once every ten days not a bother (on the other hand as I am not driving it much also a good time to pull things apart).

  5. Oh no, not at all. The MK3 is by far the better looking car

  6. Hi I have an 07 plate is220d which to be fair has had very little problems. A month ago it was sluggish, to the point of dangerous, pulling away in 1st gear. Then the VSC light came on and the AA said blocked DPF. I had the DPF chemically cleaned but still sluggish. I had the EGR cleaned and the inlet manifold, still sluggish, I even swapped the MAF sensor with a friend who has a Toyota, still useless. I then thought back to the old days and decided that if it was years ago I would have suspected a loose throttle cable or linkage, but this car is drive by wire. I decided that it might be a faulty or dirty accelerator potentiometer, I sprayed it with a good dose of electrical contact clener whilst pushing the pedal with my hand. I don't know whether this is a permanent cure, but I can honestly say the car runs better than it has done for years, the fuel consumption has improved only slightly but I can live with that. Give it a try it might work for you. Pluffy

  7. Just wanted to alert you that after a year of talking to Lexus UK, it has now been said that my two Android mobile phones (Samsung S9 and Huawei P20 pro) will not display the text messaging service on the premium navigation on my CT200h from 2017 to the present day. Unlike my CT200h 2013 premier vehicle where my different mobile phones have worked with no problem. Both my phones were also tested on an RX 400h year 2019 and did not work, whereas an Iphone 8 worked perfectly. Just wanted to alert people so they don't waste a year of their life sending 20+ emails to Lexus UK trying to get answers.

  8. Hi Hatat - if recent history is anything to go by you shouldn’t lose much at all. Maybe £3-4K/yr. But times are odd and who knows? If I could see car values in the future, I would have bought all the 205 GTI’s for £500 five years ago and now be selling them for £10k+!

  9. Good luck, not too many about these days. Not that many were sold in the first place 😞

  10. If you are DIY inclined, I would have a look myself, if you think you know where the noise is coming from (front left for instance), I would jack it up and see if I can recreate the noise at rest, then start removing and investigating from there. Might be something super silly. My dads old RX had a permanent squeal regardless of braking, turned out to be a stone lodged in the caliper. If you're local to Reading I'd have a look if you wanted for said silly thing(s), I am Fleet based though 🙂

  11. I`ve had a flat battery twice and it has recovered quickly after using the car frequently. In fact you have ne need to drive it, just sit in and press switch until "ready" shows. If the battery is running low, the engine will start in oeder to put charge into the battery !!

  12. Not sure if this will help, the sensor itself is not shown but it looks like the valve and a fitting kit are available separately?

  13. We do seem to get this idea that online items from China are somehow duff, strange really because most electrical gadgets and other items bought in the high street shops are Chinese and we do that regularly!

  18. Look for postings by Chris Kaye - I'm almost sure that his RX300 rear subframe rotted and he covered the process of replacement. EDIT: Just found one post but there may also be others:

  19. If you look at the pdf file in this posting you'll see that Blind Spot Monitors were never specified in Series 3 cars:

  20. As long as you are back to your old self again Herbie, that is all that matters.

  21. £800 ish, because the car was new it only needed a stage one preparation, depending on the condition of your paint, and what coating you want put on would determin overall cost

  22. I'm old. I'm knackered. I'll forget to turn the lights on every time I get in the car (and off when I get out). With headlights on, French drivers flash you all the time. I live in the country, with narrow roads, so I need something to make my dark blue car a bit more visible. Yadda yadda yadda.......

  23. It is photos like that that make me sure that the LS400 Mk4 was the ultimate look in the LS range (if not the full Lexus range).

  26. Just be aware that as you travel around you may have to retune the frequency because FM stations only have a range of about 20 miles, so what may be an empty slot now may not be further up the road.

  28. Don't forget that the extended warranty also includes UK breakdown recovery, European breakdown recovery and, I believe, MOT tests which when taken into account makes the £900ish for the two years a bit more of a bargain! JBP

  29. Better than we might have hoped for Barry. Congratulations both on that and your decision re the Extended Warranty.

  30. Lexus have now offered £200 'Goodwill' provided it is put towards the cost of a Lexus Dealer service or a Lexus extended warranty. I will opting for the latter immediately. I don't want any major surprises in future. It's not a great amount but I was not entitled to anything, so it was worth me sending a second email to Lexus CR which rather put them on the defensive. I can now afford to pay my formerly free TV licence LOL!

  31. Odd that as far as I know Lexus only took this approach with the GS. By comparison the wiper linkage on my LS looks like some sort of medieval torture device.

  32. Remember wagging school to watch video nasties on Betamax. Brilliant. I'm very much a child of the analogue 80s and still put music on cassette to play in my (analogue) Lexus.

  33. Depends on your definition of best quality. Early V2000 systems had less video bandwidth compared to Beta. They had some good features but considering it launched years after the competition it should have had improvements.

  34. Just wanted to say hi having picked up my 2012 CT Premier today. I have been trawling this forum and it has been a massive help to me when choosing the car. Not the kind of car I would normally go for but I was looking for a cheap, premium hatchback to be the Ying to my Yang which is a Porsche 981. While I appreciate they are very different cars, they will serve their purposes very well from what I can tell so far. Have to say, I really couldn't face another VW/Audi/BMW hatchback but wanted something well screwed together with a bit of luxury and the CT became about the only choice when you don't want to spend a fortune on what will be my runabout/commuter car. I will post some updates on my thought after a few weeks but it seems to me that most reviews are a little harsh on this car, which made me apprehensive to pull the trigger but my initial test drive and journey back from the dealer today just don't align with most professional reviews. Yes, the ride is a little crashy here and there but it was sublime on the motorway and super quiet (had the dealer fit new Dunlops before collection). The way I see it right now, it will be cheap, comfortable motoring for a few years and I have had enough of suffering massive depreciation on cars just to ferry me to work and back. Anyway, pleased to join the forum and I will let you all know if anything changes in the coming weeks/months.

  35. Today they recalibrated the VGRS and configured the horizontal position of the steering wheel. It seems to be good now.

  36. Welcome! Definitely seeing more and more of these on the road, at least compared to my partner's Honda CR-Z. She wins the exclusivity competition... The UX has no "B"-mode, and there's no way to crank up the engine braking - a mild frustration, but a real one. Instead, even on very steep hills, I basically use the brake pedal to increase engine braking, careful not to push it beyond the indicator on the regen and so apply the actual brakes. It works pretty well, and means you can modulate the engine braking just like you modulate regular braking, while putting all of that energy back into the battery. Alternatively, you could put the "gearbox" into Sport/Manual mode and then pull the shifter down through the artificial ratios, keeping the engine higher in the rev range. It'll keep your speed down just like in a regular car, but you'll be turning all that potential gravitational energy into noise and heat rather than electricity, so Lexus don't recommend it as the most efficient solution. Hope that helps! Nick

  37. +1 for Viofo. Great little cameras and very unobtrusive. Certainly no need whatsoever to pay the extortionate sums of money that Lexus charge, either for the camera or for fitting. Any auto electrician or car audio place will fit a camera for about £30-£40. Better still, it's very easy to DIY - took me less than 30 minutes from going into the garage for my tools to taking the car for a test drive to make sure it was working correctly.

  38. not a cat in hells chance of lexus providing a lifetime update for the sat nav. lexus will charge circa £150 for an update, if your nav is on a micro sd card then you can buy them off satnav web sites and update the system yourself, if not its a dealer upgrade sorry

  39. Hello. Finally decided to take the short walk from the CT forum down to the UX forum. Traded in my MY17 CT for a new UX250H. The car has the Premium Plus pack with the Tech and Sound pack. Colour is blue with white ash upholstery. Initial thoughts are that the car suits me better than the CT. The CT was a great car but wanted something bigger but not as big as the NX. Full report later.
