  2. I did notice during their TV advertisements that Green Flag only appear to cover cars less than 10 years old, that’s probably the reason they can cut your RAC or AA renewal in half! I even took mine out of the garage today in the snow....found what I needed from the storage boxes then put it back in....fortunately it didn’t break down 😀

  5. Amayama I have used very successfully to purchase OEM, Toyota stamped actually, Upper Control Arms Prices delivered are about 50% of UK Toyota / Lexus supplied retail price being Amayama price + carriage + Customs Duty + VAT + Royal mail handling charge = 50% of UK retail prices usually Malc

  8. Hello to all! I'm a new CT owner from The Netherlands and bought my CT a couple of months ago. I have been reading a lot of information about this car on this forum and since I did some minor mods I thought I might as well sign up and share it. My CT is a 2011, Business Line Pro in Tungsten Pearl with the OEM 17" wheels and black Nulux leather interior and I bought it with 182K km. After a few months driving it, I can really say I love driving this car! My first Hybrid and so far I am very happy with the feel and handling of the CT200. I never was a "burn-rubber" kind of driver, so the ride with this car really fits my driving style. As for fuel consumption, without trying I already managed to get 1liter:20km which is about 56mpg UK if I'm correct. This was in warm weather. I did the interior and license plate lights update and changed them all to LED. Big impovement. Apart from being brighter it just gives the car an updated/modern look. The LEDs I used are white 5000K because the 6000K have a slighty blue-ish look which I personally don't like. I also changed the flasher-relay so now I have the comfort-tap where I just tap the stalk and it flashes 4 times. The 2010-2013 models didn't have this feature. I have a write up which I will post in another thread. Maybe it will be helpful to somebody who wants to do the same. Cheers! Martin

  10. I thought premium members were allowed to post offers like that... so you probably alright. The only issue I can see with these covers for keys is that UK cars don't have button to turn alarm on/off as such the second hole is much larger for our keys than it needs to be. It is annoying Lexus in UK is really behind on parts and merchandise like that, as true UK pattern covers looks great.

  11. In my youth I had a commute that took me through some great twisty roads that were virtually empty, in a mercedes convertible 560SL Some sections were really testing on the car at the limit. I fitted wider tyres, wider wheels ,offset wider wheels, better quality tyres in my efforts to go faster, handle better. All I discovered was that the manufacturer had in fact fitted the optimum tyre and rim width and offset after their testing !!!!! By all means change for cosmetics but beware losing the ‘cloud’ ride.

Thank you ill ask them to have a look at EGR when i send it in for the recalls, and the engine mount If it turns out thats the worst than thats good, as i said before it is a good car True not the most fun but for commuting to and from work its good on fuel and confortbale full of nice little features Appreciate the replies and comments

  13. I'd suggest that if you are at lights that the petrol engine has been turned off by the hybrid system, and you pull away under electrical power only. Then a second or two later the petrol engine starts and this is the judder. My initial thoughts would be a blocked EGR valve which can cause starting issues and probably at least semi-blocked on an engine which has done 220k miles. also check the engine mounts haven't worn/split which can cause engine shake when it starts.

  16. Yes, as you say, it must refer to relative emissions. I was just surprised to see that they had printed that. It won't put me off the NX. However, I don't put Which? in the same category as the run of the mill motoring journalists but I do agree that it is best to ignore a lot of what the run of the mill ones say. There's a lot of good stuff in Which? but an educated man wot like I is can make decisions on what to accept and what to disregard🤣

Having read more poor motoring articles, written by so called Motoring Journalists, than I have had Yorkshire Puddings since the dawn of the Millenium, I despair. To an educated man like wot I think you is, it must refer to the relative emissions as compared to what is on the market today.

  20. In theory, yes it would. It's been a long time since I looked for the data but if I remember correctly, the discharge curves say that it would produce about 20A, rapidly falling to full discharge in less than a minute. I won't be upset if anyone proves me wrong because as I said, it's been a long time and I can't be bothered hunting it all out again. What I can say, with confidence, is that my 2013 RX450h takes less than 20A (possibly even less than 15A) to achieve READY mode.

  21. Seems a bit odd. Do they give any context or just make the comment? What Car? give the NX an ‘average’ rating in their monthly magazine, but the RX gets a ‘poor’ rating! However, online they give both ‘average’ 3* ratings. I guess the inconsistency is down to different editorial teams working on the two platforms, but it could simply be incompetence! I am going back to the 1980s, but Which magazine used to have a terrible reputation in publishing circles for the quality of their journalism. That may have changed, obviously...

  22. Pleased to hear this but a word of caution. WD40 eventually turns into a thick sticky greasy goo. I have used dry film lubricant which doesn't do this and also doesn't attract the dirt.

  23. Hello all It is not very often that I put the proverbial pen to paper, but ,after 54 years as a mechanical engineer, most of those years being involved in manufacturing machine maintenance. I have worked for some companies who would allow machines to run till they broke, and others who had P.P.M system (planned preventative maintenance). It was my experience that fewer unplanned breakdowns happened, if one did the right thing before the machine / gearbox/engine, expired in a cloud of smoke. So in my opinion it is best to do all we can to prevent unwanted breakdowns, and if that means, changing the transmission fluid on a regular basis go for it. Sealed for life, is very tenuous and quite ambiguous, especially when applied to a system with friction materials. As these clutch faces wear, because they will, the friction material will contaminate the fluid, and when one takes into consideration heat and shearing forces on the fluid/oil. To finally get off my soapbox I would say change it, and to practice what I preach I had mine done six months ago, as preventative maintenance.

  26. They do indeed. Give the Costco tyre centre a call, their in-store prices are cheaper and they have more options. Their current brand on promotion is Michelin, so maybe look at the Pilot Sport 4s. I did exactly what you're doing with a refurb of the wheels. But instead of having old tyres fitted and balanced on brand new rims, I ordered my tyres and collected then from Costco. I then took to the refurb place. If anybody is going to be careful about not damaging the newly refurbished tyres in fitting, it's the refurb place themselves. Balancing tyres involves sticking those weights to the rim too. When you put new tyres on, the fitter will just bash them off. You won't want that doing with your shiny, newly refurbished rims!

  28. I think this it’s the arm that controls the recirculation function. Mine was broken as well because someone forced the recirculation door open when changing the air filter. It must always be in recirculating mode when changing filter. With what broken off I don’t think it can recirculate the air anymore - it will always take new air inside. Kim

  30. With the right offer, you can get all 4 corners fitted, balanced, and old disposed of for less than you think. I had 4 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5s fitted by Costco for £312. More than £250 indeed, but a good deal can be had. Certainly not £150 a corner you mention.

  33. Have you replaced your radiator? Certainly worth doing at least every 10 years to minimum the risk of the transmission cooler failing and allowing coolant into the transmission, completely destroying the transmission. I see this as a bigger risk than the transmission fluid if you had to do just one - but obviously worth doing both. Certainly more transmission problems reported on these forums are due to a radiator failure than lack of maintenance on the ATF.

  34. Absolutely love that, and the colour is spot on. Can’t wait to see the next instalment and the finished article! Can never understand why BMW never did a M3 estate until now, Merc and Audi always did well with AMG c-class and the RS4 avant. Had a M5 e61 estate as a daily a few years back, and loved it apart from its homing device to the service dept at the local dealers. Must admit the thought of the new M3 estate, with a manual box, if you can get one, is very tempting.

  36. Thats why you do the cycle 3-4 times with a cycling through the gears in between fills . You will see the cherry red instead of the dark brown when you have done enough cycles . All done with the car level on 4 stands . On the SC I also dropped the sump and replaced the pan filter and cleaned the magnetic plates. at 52K ............... If you saw the oil and the magnets .......... in person ............you ALL might take my advice ...................... but its up to yourselves ...mine is good for another 50 k !!!

Just a update i have removed all the box covering in the boot and found there was big puddle of water in the left side of the boot so have dried up the water and taken the back lights off and resealed with silicon sealer have cleaned out all the drain ways so now lets hope its sorted or maybe Thanks for all the pointers to look for

  39. Hi Alex, not quite click and collect but I did buy a 2017 IS300h from an Audi dealer 137 miles away in December. The process went like this: I listed the spec for the car I wanted and did the usual trawl round various websites, no luck for a few weeks as I didn't want to compromise Found what looked to be a perfect match at a Lexus dealer 50 miles away, called and arranged a test drive for when the early December lockdown was lifted, 10 day wait.. In the meantime, kept looking and found same spec car, much lower mileage but long distance away Called the dealer, convinced him I was a serious buyer but I didn't want to drive that distance just to be disappointed by either the quality of the car or his reluctance to negotiate. Dealer made an extensive video of the car and sent it to me, close ups of all points of interest Called the dealer and we negotiated a price over the phone subject to satisfactory test drive, paid a £500 refundable holding fee Made the journey, if the truth be known I was having the car before I'd finished watching the video Test drove the car, did a bit of teeth sucking, told him I really didn't want a red car but if he threw in a tankfull of petrol I'd take it off his hands as he shouldn't have a Lexus in an Audi showroom. I absolutely DID want a red one by the way Did the paperwork and drove home grinning from ear to ear, if anything the grin is even wider now Not quite a click and collect, I couldn't bring myself to do it although if he'd have pushed me I would have done it as it was the perfect car and not an easy colour/interior combo to find Long winded but hope it helps.

I've ordered a New UX Was lucky in that I managed to sneak in a two hour test drive between Christmas and New Year when this was allowed so I know what spec and colour combo etc I wanted and was happy with the drive of the car. Might just be me but on a test drive I go home from the dealer and back. Gives a good idea of car in familiar surroundings. Order is in and waiting for the build to start now. I've ordered in the end from Lexus Birmingham as they could better the price of my usual excellent dealer at Leicester.

  41. When I had a triple bypass operation a few years ago the hospital general policy was no driving for 6 weeks. However, surgeon trumps hossy and he said 8 weeks, so 8 weeks it was, with no requirement to inform DVLA. The GP had no say in it whatsoever. If it's been a hospital case I would call the consultant's secretary and ask them for the consultant's view as he'll be the lead, possibly only 'trumpable' by DVLA. Seizures are notifiable to DVLA. A friend of ours, 62 years old, had a 'Nocturnal Seizure', just one, and it was the one and only seizure of any kind that she's ever had. Her GP said that she should notify DVLA and I can't remember if he said that there's also a requirement for him as the GP to inform DVLA too. Anyway, whatever, the result was that she had her licence revoked for 6 months and if she had another seizure during that time then the 6 month clock would start again - luckily, she didn't and now has her licence back.

  44. Went from a 2016 RX to a 2019 NX. Only one problem with the NX was the car was significantly smaller then the RX SIGNIFICANTLY. We didn't think much of it when viewing and reading the specs but in daily use became a bit of an issue. This was for my family of 2 adults and 2 children. For the back definitely 2 child seat or 1 childseat and 1 adult only. With the RX can just about manage 2 child seat and 1 adult in the rear. Boot space was also a problem as once the child push chair went in there wasn't much room for other things for a long weekend say. I know it is stating the obvious but the larger space really does make a difference. Both are as comfortable as each other i.e. after a long journey you will exit both cars feeling refreshed but in a full RX it just less claustrophobic Local dealer said we can change now so looking to go back to the RX albeit an older and less spec RX to my current top of the range NX but willing to make that compromise for the additional space. We have a big problem with this around our area. As far as I can tell its not an issue with an NX due to the location but do you know whether its an issue with MY2019 RX? So sad to think that this is the decider as to whether I should change car or not.

  46. Linas is entirely wrong. V-Power petrol will not only make your engine cleaner, faster and more efficient but it's very use makes you more attractive to women. Or men. Whichever. We don't judge. That said, you really were wasting your money with the derv. Used cooking oil would have worked just as well. Yuk.
