  1. https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-9469901/The-cars-likely-pass-MOT-attempt.html No surprise here. Current RX fares well too, but I am surprised to not see the CT listed as it is often listed as one of the most reliable cars sold in the UK.

  2. This is the result of the photoshoot I went to last July because Lexus had commissioned one. Apparently my car was chosen only because I was nearest to the studio! The interior is lighter than depicted, and the posh background has been edited in afterwards. 3. As promised, here are a couple of pics that I've managed to dig out that my Dad took when it was running, and a couple that I took - one a while ago (the decent one!), and one recently that's a bit poorer quality. I spoke to the indie last night too (after picking up my A1 - that was an expensive day, 2 new front springs and a major service, with new rear discs and pads needed in the next 3-4k miles, along with the outer skin of the backbox starting to corrode so that'll need replacing in a year or so!). Anyway, I digress, he'd be more than happy to take a look and see what needs to be done to get it all roadworthy and running again. He agreed that a new belt would be an idea, although he'd check the state of it first. His only concern was that the calipers may need checking as they might've seized due to it being sat so long - but he won't know until he looks. We're getting it low loaded to him in a couple of weeks when he's got a bit of time to take a decent look at it. I will keep you guys updated 🙂

  4. Now that is an interesting Post Nikola. On the face of it, it would seem that the legal principle of Estoppel means whereby someone ( in this case, the Dealer) cannot deny what they have said. So. if it was warranted ,it was warranted. Do please keep us all informed of developments

  5. Seen a couple of nice IS350 imports... not sure why Lexus didn't offer them in the UK! Anybody been down this path? I'm guessing they would need underseal doing due to the difference in climate, specialist insurance.. wondering how the IS350 is for servicing in the UK, if parts are readily available, if dealerships will touch them.. Flight of fancy I suspect.. doubt I'd follow through. 6. I went to see Nigel at Phoenix International Raceway when he left F1 to race in Indy Cars. The local Lexus dealer featured a Soarer as “one” of the pace cars with pretty close to an open exhaust. The sound was amazing. I remember Nigel came third.

  9. When I had my IS200 sport with cream/beige interior and mats I bought a second set of mats in black to use over the winter. I currently have two sets in black for my IS250 f sport and tend to alternate usage, you could call it a waste of money but my choice 😄

  10. If your interior is grey or black then they are easy to clean - even with just a hoover and wipe down with a damp cloth they come up great. Cream on the other hand is harder to keep clean and (to clean)

  11. It has 122k miles so it's bound to have battery issues soon... I saw that one but the dealer reviews put me off. Read them and you can see why. That's not to say that means that the car would be bad, but you know... Then again, the one I bought from - 'Alexander Motors' Cradley Heath currently has 31 5* and no 1* reviews and my experience with him, and especially him trying to scam me says otherwise... So you never really know... Got a call from the dealership earlier. Said that the techs wanted more data sent to them lol. I asked the guy what's the point of the whole procedure and said even he doesn't know, as that's his first such claim. Said that it could as well go as far as needing approval from Japan lol. So anyway, it's going to be next week till I see another update.

  12. The 1250, 1200, 1150, 1100, R80GS, R100GS, or the 650/800? There's a lot of BMW GSes. I like the 1200/1250 motor. The rest leave me cold. That said, enjoy it! Going out for a ride on my 1000 this weekend.

  13. I definitely agree. However I am partial . I use my LS400 as daily drivers and I have these days difficulties tollerating modern cars lack of long term quality, plastic smell and often noisy ride on lower profile tires. Value of the LS400 cars being stable or even rising over time does not hurt either.

  18. All of that should have been within your first post Nikola. Ask Lexus for a brief report on the rest of the car as the Dealer who sold you the car needs to be pursued as Steven has suggested.

  21. Yeah I always drive in sports mode. The lack of instant response may be due to the battery issues. In sports mode mine is fairly instant. There is certainly no 'dead-zone' anywhere in the throttle. With all that wrong... I'd return it or say he has to fix ALL of it AND certify its fixed. He should also refund your warranty if he refunds the sale cost. That could be upwards of 5k in repairs..... If he refuses to do either, tell him you are going to the ombudsman and do it if he refuses. I'd actually leave the car with him and get the DVLA to assign the car back to him on the V5C if he tries to be at all funny about it and tell him its his problem. The service money will be lost however. Why you bothered servicing it before having it checked over is honestly beyond me! 😉

  25. As it was purchased from a dealer, if its in the first 30 days, you have a right to a refund at worst. Normally also within the first 6 months unless they can show it only became faulty after the first month. https://www.car.co.uk/car-warranties/faqs/used-car-warranties/what-is-statutory-warranty-on-a-used-car Is a good guide on the subject.

  26. Something I forgot to mention. On my way home after picking up the UX the traction battery was full so when I was on the motorway I absolutely booted it. To my surprise it shot off like a scolded cat. I actually was thrown back into my seat. Enjoy your car Dave and look in the UX section of this forum as there are loads of threads there. You'll find all your answers there.

  28. You should apologise to John for your post Paul... Your post is incorrect... In the very near future, there will be a post on the LC 500 Topics, which will mention how John has been very helpful, with a very serious problem that an owner of a Brand New LC 500 has had... I have been involved with the PM's, between both John, and the owner of the Brand New LC 500. Having been a successful businessman... and employed various Consultants and Lawyers. I am very aware of John's ability to help Forum members... and so is the owner of the Brand New LC 500...

  29. You can't straight swap the bumpers as the headlights and front wings/fenders are different. You could possibly make them fit, but that depends on your skill level. Otherwise you will be swapping the entire front end, as shown in the link above. You might be better off seeing if you can find an aftermarket front bumper. Seems to be quite a few out there.

  30. A bit like the new Covid rules Malc. You can now go to the pub but not go inside. However if there is a gazebo or tent which is outside you can go inside it. If the gazebo is at the back of the pub you are allowed to enter the pub go through it and out of the back door in order to go outside to go inside the gazebo. If you need to use the toilet and this is located inside you are allowed to go inside to use it but must return outside when finished. Once you have returned outside you are allowed to go inside the gazebo providing you came outside the same way as you went inside and not took a wrong turn and ended up at the front by mistake. If that should happen the paragraph above applies. At some pubs you need to stand and wait outside and someone will escort you to suitable seating. This needs to be outside but could be located inside a gazebo or tent. You are only allowed a maximum of 6 people at your allocated table whether it be outside or inside an outside gazebo, exceeding this figure could result both in cramped conditions or damage to the seating. If this happens you could be asked to leave the premises by going outside the gazebo going inside the pub and then back outside. If your house is not at the pub but a reasonable distance away from it you are allowed to walk home from there and go inside.

  31. Thanks for taking the time to do that @Wood Butcher There is a set for sale on Ebay and I even tried doing the same by zooming into the pictures. Only Brembo markings and the part no. I emailed Brembo yesterday. I think if I get a wishy washy answer from them, then I will just forget the idea.

  32. I’d expect HGVs to be limited below 50mph in the next 5-10 years. It’s already being mooted for any HGV still running diesel when petrol and diesel vehicles are no longer able to be sold new. I’d also expect to see more use of (and an associated expansion of) electric railways for freight and even canals, with smaller electric trucks making final deliveries - by the 2050s, in the U.K. and EU at least. That will be a big shift but, as has been noted, the bigger polluters like India, Brazil, China, and the US need to be the ones who make the real changes.

  36. Are you referring to the volume of the voice prompts from, for example, Google Maps or the Google Assistant? If so then this is controlled by the default volume control set within the Lexus Infotainment system itself. To adjust this: Press the "Menu" button on the touchpad Select "Setup" Select "Voice" on the sub-menu Change the "Voice volume" value to your preference Hope this helps.

  39. It will have just been one they had in stock that they just didn't register until March 2018 - maybe it was stuck in a showroom or a cancelled/delayed order from Japan. Hopefully someone got a good deal when they bought it new - can often happen when facelifts come out. My facelift model was registered in Jan 2018 so you are correct about '67' being the crossover plate for the facelift.

  40. My wife has a Pride Go Go Sport, and at the moment I can lift it into the rear of my 450H manually, after removing the front basket, seat and battery pack, after folding down the tiller. It fits sideways against the rear of the seats, and I place the removed articles around it. I will eventually be looking at a hoist when I am unable to lift it manually. Please report back if you find a lift and have it installed as I think this will be a topic that will help others

  41. I don't know your physical abilities but my wife has a mobility scooter, a Scootamart Versa Lite - click this link for details. We were lucky to get hers secondhand for £375 from eBay, almost unused, so it's worth a look there too. It fits into the back of the RX300 that we used to have and as the 400h is built on the same body, then I know it'll fit into yours. It comes apart into five separate pieces, no tools are needed. The front axle, tiller and body is one piece, the rear axle, the battery, the seat and the basket make up the rest. Because it splits apart it's light and easy to handle, and my wife can get it in and out of the car herself without needing a hoist. As an indication, we managed to get the scooter and four weeks-worth of luggage in the boot of the RX300, without putting the seats down, when we went on holiday driving and touring around Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

  42. Hello guys, I've recently bought my 2007 GS450H with 130k miles. I'll skip all the details and just say that I serviced it at the dealer for £250 and it passed the hybrid battery check. One week later the hybrid light came on. So I got it back to the dealership for diagnostic (which usually costs £120), but free of charge because of the warranty, and it turns out it was the hybrid batteries... That was last Friday. The dealership told me they'll be sending some data over to Lexus "technical team" to analyse and they'll get back to me once they hear from the techs. Also mentioned that the batteries failing under warranty was something very rare (like twice in a year for the whole country if I understood correctly). So today is Thursday and they still haven't heard from the tech team. Does any of you know if I should be concerned about this, or are they going to honour the warranty as they should. I did read the terms&conditions on the brochure but there was nothing particularly relevant to my case. Could there be something in the report that would void the warranty? I can only make a wild guess and say that the tech team are verifying whether the hybrid check was done properly and if the fault was in the technician (from the dealership) who carried it out, or it's a flaw of the system itself for not detecting a problem?! So that would be a case of who pays for it which they have to figure out by themselves which I suppose has nothing to do with me and repair still needs to be carried out as per warranty. Curious to hear your thoughts on this! Regards, Nik

  44. Yes, from a dealer (not Lexus). I don't trust him though as I haggled the price down with 50 quid and then later when I asked to pay for a warranty (which the company could only offer for the engine and transmission, no electricals etc.), he paid for it first with me knowingthe prices without VAT (235 quid) , and then later asked me for 330+, saying that was what he was charged. I pointed out that 235 with VAT should be 282 and so he rang the warranty company and as he was talking I could hear through what the agent was saying so he was reducing the volume of his phone as he was talking... After asking the agent multiple times what the price is I could faintly hear 280 something... after which he eventually agreed. So basically he tried to get that 50 quid back through the warranty. 10 minutes after I drove away the hybrid system light came up. Rang him, told him, and he pointed me to a known friend mechanic (well more like tyre, exhaust and suspension guy) of his. Read the codes and indeed it was the hybrid battery. ECB and VSC also came up so both googled that and a possible cause was the 12V battery failing to which he assured me was the reason. I knew it wasn't... At that point I should have insisted for a refund, but I wanted the car so bad that it clouded my judgement. After the codes were cleared, car drove fine. Halfway through the motorway, TPMS light came up and I said **** it, not too bothered about that. Got home and a few days later serviced it at Lexus. Came out with 3 bad shocks (500+ each), all bad TP sensors (for which to replace they charge 500 lol) an oil leak (which as I'm monitoring 500 miles later, oil is still at full, so not bad) and a few holes in the exhaust. So overall not too bad for 3750. I guess I should cram it all in and say that the car is great except the throttle response. Never mind the delay when you floor it. My problem is that there seems to be a lot of dead zone on the throttle so when pressing it makes little to no difference acceleration wise. Is this because of the CVT? Is it because the ECU adjusting the response based on previous driving pattern or is it something else? Putting it in sport mode improves it a bit but not much. So anyway, if anyone's still reading, what are thoughts on this? If they refuse to fix the battery, guess it's reasonable to want a refund (even a bit extra as I serviced it) from the dealer. What are my chances of getting it? If he refuses initially, what should I do?
