  2. Hi there, new on here. Everytime I buy a different car I end up selling and going back to lexus so here is my 5th lexus now. Keeping this one "forever" lol. Need to get some new pics when I've added my own little touches.. I have coilovers coming soon as I've found a broken spring on the front. Top pic I've changed a few things already.

If you don't know what you're doing, yes, it is - but I would hope that people know their own limits and if they don't have the correct protective gear, or if they aren't comfortable working with the sorts of voltages that can be found in there, then they would have the sense to take it to someone who does.

  6. Steve........I asked about this topic in November 2020 (see page 4 of this forum). Lexus UK were unaware of any thefts of Catalytic Converters from Lexus GS and UX cars. The major Cat in the UX is directly attached to the exhaust manifold and pretty inaccessible. I've taken a look under my UX, the Catalytic converter doesn't look visible from underneath not like on the CT's so l reckon the UX would not be a target for thieves.

  7. Try one of the online calculators like this https://www.willtheyfit.com/ The bottom line is one must keep the rolling diameter within tolerance or one can upset all sorts of things, speedometer accuracy being one thing

  8. Nice! No, I don't imagine it would. But I'd be happy with a GS430. I do like the Mk2, but it is too dated for my liking. It comes across as more solidly built, but I'm not sure why. I can't cope with the smaller boot, I feel like I'm in a smaller minority as I actually use the boot a lot and for me a big car with a small boot is completely pointless. But, that's just my opinion. I will keep an eye out, not sure if I'll end up with one at this point! If you see one, please send it to me!

  10. I've always been on this forum looking but never thought of actually joining so here I am, I have had 2 grey is200 sports, one with black interior and one with cream, I had a yellow is200 sport, a blue gs430 and now this silver is200... I'm currently looking for an is300 sportcross also but will be next year before I can buy one as I'm getting married next year. Few pics of my old cars

  11. I must admit I was very lucky to pick up the GS460. I was looking for an LS460/600 at the time but saw it and bought it immediately. I don't think £6k would buy a decent GS460 but should be fine for a GS430. I've owned the mk2 and mk3 GS430. The later one rides, drives and performs very similar to the GS460. The earlier model was finished to a higher standard but is a bit dated now. I always wanted a V300 Aristo.😎 The 460 has better fuel economy, on a long run I easily get 32 making good motorway progress, it has a little bit more grunt but the 3UZ is equally smooth and quieter in my view. If you could cope with the smaller boot, the hybrid GS450H SEL ought to be a contender but I like 8 cyls. 🙂 Looking at the ever increasing prices of SC430s, the rare and better equipped GS430 is something of a bargain. Good luck with the search.

  13. Just wanted to thank Herbie, (Lydiamight 😂), Neo GFS & Ryaans for putting my mind at rest. I'm now the proud owner of a new to me RX450H F Sport (with whiney fast acceleration! 🤭). Many thanks. Wonder if the person who buys my 2010 RX450h SE-L will appear on here? Fingers crossed she goes to a good home.

  16. just a point on the tyres prior to fitting them ( they were concave by the way)that was the reason for changing them it had Bridgestone Potensa on rear were really concave on the tread fronts was not as bad i changed the rears on advice from fellow members on here but after a few miles the steering wheel was slightly off10 to 4 i thought that maybe the rear alignment was out . Anyway i decided to change the fronts before getting it tracked however an article i read on the US forum said it could be the EPS required syncing I have not heard of this before and i suspect some of our fellow members may know it too. The procedure according to one gent was get the vehicle in straight ahead position then with engine running turn steering Left to stop then right to full right stop then left again to left stop then back to centre Lo and behold the steering was then spot on never pulled right or left and there seems to be better feedback from the steering well pleased but as i said i am sure some members know this but for those that dont try it you maybe suprised. 18. (long post warning: please ensure you have you’re preferred beverage ready and are comfortable) 😁 Typical, after the hassle of working through a front wheel bearing replacement: finding a garage that would split the hub, extract and install and fretting about OE or non OE…there were unintended consequences. I’d driven over 40 miles and it was my return journey. As usual, the Lexus sat nav only knew the Roman and medieval cart tracks, so I ended up more cross country than intended. Some of my sojourn was spirited. Halfway point saw me detoured through Farnham in Surrey and on braking to a stop from 5 mph downward the ABS on the wheel with new bearing kicked in without need. It did it on every firm stop. There was no ABS light activation. Oh great, so I wondered what in the wheel bearing was wrong…incorrectly mounted? Wrong way around…? Except there’s no magnetic reader…dirt…as the bearing had worn in from grease? I tried again from cold this morning…same from a modest speed: it grabbed and squawked with the brake pedal flutter. Just on the one wheel. OK, so Google revealed this was a common potential problem with all wheel bearing repairs and sometimes brake replacement; but it wasn’t that easy to pinpoint a fix. My Drivers’ side front had a new SKF bearing with new nut and oil seal. I had spray cleaned the disc and pads on that side. Everything had assembled easily and I’d torqued up all bolts to spec. Nothing untoward occurred in the first miles post new bearing fitting. So I removed the drivers’ side wheel/removed the abs sensor with a 1/4 drive 10mm socket. A small bit of dirt sat indirectly - a little on the sensor head, the speed ring looked relatively clean. Using cotton buds I cleaned the ridged ring via the sensor mounting hole. It was lightly grubby. Then packing said hole, I took to my metal file and filed away the rust buil-up around it and the surrounding areas. I wiped it with a WD dampened area of cloth after blowing away debris. The sensor was cleaned with a cloth and tiny bit of WD on the cloth before wiping clean. I’m not a fan of copperslip, but I smeared this around the collar/seal of the sensor. I refitted the sensor using the handled file and soft mallet to work around the shoulder of the unit and pushing by hand I observed it was firmly home with a little of the copperslip squeezing out from the body of the sensor. Then to the untouched side. Wheel off/spray cleaned the discs and through the back of the caliper, wiped off the dirt. This time on removing the sensor I was greeted with a different sight. The speed ring was well greased and the sensor was covered by a decent layer too. Again using cotton buds I cleaned off as much grease from the speed ring as possible. Removed it too from the sensor. I repeated the process of filing away rust build up to a clean flat surface, used the copperslip and put everything back together. The sensors’ 10mm bolts were torqued to 7.8 Nm. by the way. I disconnected the battery and went away for a coffee. With the later LS400 after reconnecting the battery it’s a turn of ignition key to position ON so ignition and dash etc are on and wait for 6 minutes then switch off. Then you are good to go. All fired up so off for my test drive. I know the experts talk about different tolerances, too much signal variation between the two wheels on the axle, air gap from sensor to ring…and I’m sure that’s exactly what it is. I’ve equalised the sensors working environment I suppose. If they were both grease covered maybe that would have been fine. All is well and back to normal. Hopefully this will continue. 🧐 I reckon if you can’t balance it all up it makes sense to replace both bearings. But there again, given mine was shot for example, and it didn’t once trip the ABS, it does seem to be about balanced operating conditions for the sensors. Probably, I could have just worked on the non repaired side to achieve the fix. Hope this is useful. (apologies the photos are a bit rough)

  30. Forgot to say that the word sport does not go well together with hybrid engines of the size that is in a CT. Steering and suspension are very close to sport, brakes are good, but it takes a bit time to get to know how to use them if used to a sports car. Engine power is adequate when putting the dial i sport mode, but for less than 5 seconds, after that there is no sport in a 1.8L hybrid engine. Still the CT is firm and safe, well built and a pleasure to drive and if driving with purpose to come from one place to another it is absolutely gorgeous, quiet and excellent and with ML audio it is a concert hall. If wanting to always come first from one red light to another it is the wrong car.

  34. Glad you got it fixed for the trip.🙂 For a simple reset I usually do the same. Disconnect the negative lead on the battery for a minute or two and then reset all of the lost settings but it doesn't always reset the memory seat function. To reset the SC430 seats the procedure below works. I haven't found anything to confirm it but it may be similar for the LS. The LS seats may not beep but try adjusting them to the end of each forward, backward and tilt adjustment. To reset the windows this usually does the trick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kowPAsiuxhs I've also read that the windows should be rolled fully up and down twice then hold the button for 2 seconds with the window shut. Do it for all windows and that should complete the reset and restore full functionality.

  40. @Brian, well it is a Government website so they have a duty to make it Moron proof. 🤣 My older motorcycle will run on E10 as it has plastic floats in the carbs and the O-rings are Ethanol tolerant, but it needs a stabiliser adding to the fuel if it is left standing for more than a few days as it has a steel petrol tank and E10 absorbs so much water that just one winter of 3-4 months will destroy the tank. I am considering getting the tank lined with a polymer lining specifically because of this. We will have to start carrying additives like this https://www.carservicepacks.co.uk/product/liqui-moly-e10-21421/ once the SuperE5 goes to SuperE10 in a few years time. Oh the joys of running older vehicles. 🙄

  41. Only my personal view.....BUT as 86% of cars are either PCP, HP/leased or company cars the manufacturing companies don’t want secondhand cars, I think they have to by law offer an alternative to new but can pick n choose what to forecourt, we are constantly bombarded with Toyota trying to get us to PX the wife’s car BUT it’ll be scrapped before it gets sold, either a new hybrid set up or constantly run on fuel until it’s totally had it!........I can’t justify the associated loss on a new car so I’m the worst car buyer to a main dealer 😂.......my F and Z1000 are toys, I’ve a runner for work n the wife has hers, I dread to think of the money I’ve lost to dealers over the years, it took a long time for me to grow up and at 49 I’m finally there 😂🤣........

  47. First of all, excuse me in advance for my English, in these cases, the use of a couple of online translators to support my lack of knowledge of English terms is very useful. I find myself writing the first post in this section because after four IS, I have now switched to an RC. My first IS was an IS200 Sportcross, I think it was the best Lexus ever owned, after a few years I switched to the IS250: it was a total change, and therefore being fascinated by the design and the technological and safety upgrade that Lexus implemented with that total change of the IS platform, I decided to change. The same happened with the first IS300H: I waited for the hybrid all that time, eventually, it also came for IS and it led me to a total change in my approach to driving. The last one I had until a month ago was an IS300H MY2017 which marked a technological and detailed improvement compared to the first version. At home, we also have a CT MY2018, still a very good car. At the end of my payment plan, as always, I found myself in the dilemma of keeping, changing, returning the car. The big problem, as read here: https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/125809-isctrc-discontinued-in-uk-and-europe/#comments Is that Lexus has canceled the IS, RC, CT range for the Italian and European markets If this had not happened, I think I would have ordered the new IS300H recently presented, but this has not happened, because, in the end, I decided to buy a RC300H The path that led me to this was a little complicated because I had to thought a lot. The dealer wanted to sell me an ES at all costs, but this car, after careful analysis, even if beauty, was not open to me: too big, too "old" (although I'm not a kid, that type of car didn't make me feel well when I tried) therefore I have also looked for alternatives at other dealers, I am lucky to have three dealers at a few tens of km. from my village. One thought immediately struck me: why not completely change the paradigm? Why not try a sportier car that still lets me experience a "real" Lexus? This thought led me to study the history of Lexus in the field of sports cars, I started from LF-A, then LFA, then LF-CC, and LF-LC to understand that the line from which RC was born is inherited from those beautiful designs,I realized this even more when during the wash I caught myself looking at the car from the side. I can say that this convinced me, the idea of an RC, in the F-SPORT configuration (I've always had the "luxury" version) was taken. Defined that it was impossible to get it now as a new car, I was lucky enough to find a 2019 DEMO car with 7000 km. Sonic Titanium, full optional, sunroof, and Mark Levinson who since the first IS have been mandatory for me, I had seen one from 2000 with almost km. zero, but without ML and a sunroof I wouldn't have taken it, in a compact passenger compartment like that of the LC, without a sunroof I felt a little "oppressed". It is my first “used” Lexus: I confess that the choice was not easy. but I had decided, after the test drive I fell in love, returned my perfect four-year-old IS300H, and got on the new RC. I feel ready, after a month, to give some impressions, which can be interesting, because as a calm and relaxed driver, I found myself more dynamic and had fun driving a car. IMPRESSIONS ON THE RC300H: DESIGN AND DRIVING The design convinces me in every single detail, I can consider it a classic. The heritage of the LFA and LC is breathed in well, the F-SPORT version in my opinion is the best. A car that still makes people looking at: I think a Lexus owner is also looking for a certain exclusivity. I realized that when Lexus in Europe changed its commercial strategy, investing only in what the market commands (SUVs and MIni-SUVs) it lost a certain exclusivity. The driving is dynamic: it is easy to understand the difference in chassis, suspension, the set-up: before driving an RC I did not understand any of these things, the IS300H was a quiet car, which drove itself, a little bit "boring"? Maybe. The RC made me understand that yes can still enjoy driving a car, which I had kind of forgotten with hybrid IS300H I have nothing to say about these aspects, I am very happy. Here the consumption aspect also comes into play: in my opinion, the RC consumes more than the IS. With IS I had an average consumption of 6.5/100 while with RC I absolutely cannot go below 7.5/100 I realized that the RC, in "normal" mode, is the same as the IS in "SPORT" mode” I, therefore, think that this is the point: a more dynamic, more reactive and therefore more expensive calibration. I notice that while with the IS the electric mode is activated with a certain frequency with the RC it is activated less. Ok, this doesn't change my life, but it should be noted. SAFETY It seems to me that the RC MY2018 / MY2020 (as it appears written in the registration document) has substantially the same preventive safety system as the IS, I think that some aspects have changed and improved in the calibration of the cruise control and pedestrian detection systems: I find the very smooth adaptive cruise control acceleration, more fluid than the IS300H TECHNOLOGY AND MULTIMEDIA For me the weak point of all Lexus. The car has the Multimedia with the software updated to 2018 or the so called "second generation" which is substantially identical to the 2019/20 version with the difference that it does not support APPLE CAR or ANDROID CAR and I do not think it is even upgradeable: if someone know something about it, please let me know. The real problem with this multimedia system is the navigation system, I think that if Lexus could have done worse than the previous one, it has succeeded, in fact, I am sure that the version we have in Europe is perhaps one of the worst ever made. In fact, in Japan they updated the speed of the software, they modernized it: but they rigorously kept the graphics as in the 2017 version, that is, readable, clear, understandable. Attention, I am not referring to aspects such as music, Bluetooth management, climate, and other functions of the car that I find well configured, but to the actual navigation. The screen, although it is 10.3 inches, has been reduced considerably, bringing a black frame all around by more than a centimeter, which makes no sense other than to reduce the space of the maps: they used this space to add unuseful titles like "Navigation" and so on, meaningless. This forced Lexus to shrink the font size of the streets name, cities, information and it is not possible to enlarge them, furthermore, they have surrounded them with a white "outline", which confuses them with the background: basically, everything is illegible, the night version is even worst. Of course, there are some improvements: the system automatically connects to the "my lexus" profile when you switch on, allows a dynamic update of traffic conditions, weather conditions, etc. whereas before it was a bit difficult to configure the connected services. But be careful: I have discovered that after three years the connected service packages expire and must be purchased. One bad thing, previously Lexus offered those packages included forever, now you need pay for them after three years. The cost is not high, it is about € 20 per year (while other brand are so much expensive) but it is still something that reduce the "plus" that old Lexus owner will remember so well and that the new owners, don't know. I summarize my impression by saying that in trying to enter more information, and to update their technology, they created confusion on the screen, I am quite tech-savvy and have had no problem, in an hour, figuring out how to best use the multimedia system, but I believe those who are less accustomed find it very complicated to extricate themselves in the maze of the settings, but above all the navigation screen is a well-defined example of what should not be done: confusion, information that is not immediately evident, slowness, illegibility. I believe that if I could use Apple Car in my RC I would certainly have switched to Google, Apple, or Waze maps: clear, dynamically updated, legible, and functional, note also that the car is not updated to use the Lexus link application which here in Italy only works with NX and UX. CONCLUSIONS I am very happy, despite the multimedia system that has greatly disappointed me, I find the RC a truly special car. I like the chassis set-up, the feeling of steering that reacts to the slightest touch, I love driving it, I would never get off if I could, I like the interior design which is like the IS, but with an extra touch of modernity. It made me savor the heritage of Lexus sports cars and made me understand that the choice to stay in Lexus was the right one. We will see in the future, in four years when the financing plan will expire if the next step will be that of an electric Lexus, but for now, I believe that, at the moment, the Lexus Hybrid Synergy Drive is the best choice ever. Thank you for your patience in reading my impressions.

  49. FYI I use Eco mode all the time and my AC is ice cold. There may be an upper limit on how warm outside Eco mode can cope with, I know my previous Toyota Auris struggled in last year's scorcher 38c day and I used recycle mode periodically (I didn't remember Eco mode reduced compressor capacity at the time) but even then we were kept cool enough.
