It's been a while since I posted about my mods. I've since done quite a few more mods and thought i would share some pictures of some of these recent mods. It's not everything but the ones that quickly come to mind. I wil update my blog soon with all the mods and possibly have a list of mods on my blog. Right now, my instagram is the most up-to-date with my mods as that's the first place I get round to updating. This is not the end of the mods. I've got a few big ones coming up very soon hopefully by Christmas Please remember mods are all down to personal taste, so it may not appeal to all. Just thought i'd share ๐ The photos below are of the following mods: Blue hybrid power button Leather gear boot and shift knob from 3IS re-stitched in blue Hydrodipped black carbon centre console and window switches Hydrodipped blue carbon: gear knob trim, paddle shifters, steering switchpads and 2 side trims for centre console Flat bottom carbon steering wheel with blue stitching Wrapped interior grab handle gloss black Ambient EL wire blue light on front door cards LED upgrade from green to white, with a few blue ones Hydrodipped centre stack navigation unit in black carbon with custom white decals Pics attached below:6 points

I've only just joined so am not sure if I can post links to other forums. So, do a search for "rusty fuel filler pipe" and you should see a link to a wheels inmotion site which has a thread regarding rusty fuel pipes on an RX. There are several photos showing the pipes and location. You can see them if you can get under the car or, if you remove the nearside rear wheel and undo the arch liner, you can see where they go under and can follow the routing. Mine were fine, and so I gave them a spray of ACF-50 whilst I had the wheel and cover off.3 points

For the first 20 years of driving i stayed with the same company, i think they treated you as a valued customer, but for the next 20 years i have changed to a different company every year, customer loyalty has gone and they don't even seem bothered if you stay or go.2 points

If it was noted during inspection you have assume they could see it when its in the air on a ramp. if it does rot through to a hole it will affect the emmissions bit of recycled vapours wire brush, emerytape, hammerite should protect it . When i am under my car and see any rusty bits I spray them with waxy anticorrosion spray like waxoyl aerosol. Bolts especially get this treatment in case they have to come off. .2 points

Now, I know you've all been dying to have an update. Well, wait no longer. Ed from Chips Away has just been. He's amazing. He took one look at the scratches on the boot lid and behind the door handle, then disappeared into his van. He returned with a cloth and a bottle of clever stuff which he rubbed onto each scratch. Both have now completely gone. He has gone away to write me a quote for fixing the wheel. Level of happiness: Euphoric.2 points

Hi there, been looking at the owners club off and on for a few years now, just signed up. I had an IS300h for 3 years from 2013 and currently have a 2017 RX450h which I have had from new.1 point

Not sure when they standardized it across the range, but can confirm my 2021 has ANC. Not a new feature. Honda accord got it about 15 years ago in the US. Nice to have but the well dampened floor, wheel wells, double glazing, and even noise absorbing floor mats are I think more important. @Alan305 I wouldn't turn on ANC on a C6 either ๐1 point

Agree, on our old IS F Sport, used once then turned off. My old Corvette had much better active noise control, the V8 sound came out of the four pipes at the rear.1 point

Those supposedly more gentle hand car washing places can actually be quite aggressive due to over-zealous jetwashing inches from the bodywork. I'd guess the pressure from the jetwash has got past the rear wiper seal. I now avoid them because I had one jetwash my wheels on a previous car and destroy the rubber seals on the caliper slider pins. I've also seen them jetwash the lacquer off paint. ๐ฎ I prefer to wash the car myself then I only have me to blame. Plus my wheels are so scabby if they jetwashed them like they usually do I'd have no paint left on them.1 point

Millers Olis EPS is specifically made to counter the effects of E10 on our cars that can't use the stuff. Halfords price ยฃ10.99 for a 250ml one shot bottle however Millers recommend 250ml per 15l petrol. So far using E5 I can't say I've noticed any change in fuel economy. Mind you I'm no Miss Daisey but more like a nutter. Trip to Leeds not sticking to any limits and flooring it my trip computer stated 27.8mpg. More than happy with that. Maybe I'll try a sedate trip next time.1 point

I had a similar issue with noises in my IS. Some fine person here recommended this, which stopped the creaking immediately after applying it to all the door seals. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002MZZNU8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=11 point

The corrosion occurs internally, so it cant be visually inspected or so I was told by Lexus.1 point

The mileage will be stored in one of the Integrated Circuits. Probably the TC97101P bottom right on the circuit board since that is the only EEPROM I can see. Here is a general purpose "DIY" on fixing the Odometer mileage. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-1st-to-4th-gen-1990-2006/740730-diy-odometer-reprogramming.html1 point

From the ML amp. There is a permanent +12V and ACC +12V all available in the ML amp connectors.1 point

Mike, after some thought, I do recollect this being raised before on the Forum .... no idea where tho' And coming to light now maybe particularly that E10 / E5 fuels whichever one, is susceptible to rotting aluminium parts etc ...... other posts here too Good luck in your search .... can't believe someone clever with their hands couldn't produce a copycat fuel filler pipe to MOT standards for a comparative few pence Malc1 point

Iโll be interested to see how you find your new ES. The shape and style of them has really grown on me to the point where I now think they look fantastic.1 point

Thanks ๐ it's really handy when you have your hands full trying to load the boot. I didn't take too much photos of the process. So not sure if a detailed how-to is coming anytime soon lol. But it's rather straight forward. It work's as follows: The boot release button that we press on the boot-lid is a 2 wire switch. It's ground switched. When you press the button it completes the ground connection. When that switch is presed, the car deals with the logic, it checks to see if fob is present in that outside boot zone and if so then it actually sends power back to the lock actuator to unlock the boot. This is where the kick sensor comes in, the kick sensor is a universal kit, when it detects a kick motion, it completes a ground connection. So all I did was took that connection and tapped it into the ground wire of the boot release switch. So when I approach the car and if ACC is off then the kick sensor is active via the permenant +12v power. If the kick sensor detects a kick motion at this point (regardless of if the key fob is in the zone or not) it will just complete the ground circuit to the boot opening button. The car will see this as someone has pressed the boot button. At that point the car checks to see if fob is in the zone and if so proceeds with unlocking the boot. So, even if kit malfunctions, as long as key fob isn't right next to the boot then it won't unlock. The kick sensor also disables itself when ACC is on. Hope that makes sense Also just to mention, i did this earlier this year and it's been working really well ๐1 point

I also noticed a drop in torque when I was touring in Devon a few weeks ago, I was manually changing gear a lot more than usual especiallly with three adults in the car and at times luggage, some of the steeper hills were a challenge! Might try the Super for a week or two see if I prefer it.1 point

It is 'possible' to replace the Xenon headlamp bulbs without removing the bumper but it is a bit tricky. If the bumper is coming off then it's worth considering renewing the ballast units at the same time.1 point

Give it a go, you would get discount and the result would be interesting to many SC owners!1 point

I asked about the essential service recently as my car is now 5+ years old. Lexus Cheltenham told me that this is no longer available. Furthermore, they would no longer give a discount to 'Gold Members' on the standard service charges which have increased no doubt due to the extended warranty now given with each service. It's nice to have a book full of Lexus stamps but maybe there comes a time where one has to consider the value of this and the restricted warranty provided compared with the lower cost of service by an indy.1 point

It's the whole range, country-wide. I had already stopped taking my car to the dealership since 2019, but would've considered using them again for my most recent service had the Essential program still been in operation, since it was only a minor one and would been a reasonable price. Not now though since it'll be ยฃ300 minimum.1 point

The DVLA are months behind with their work caused by staff not wanting to come back in to work and strikes in other departments. It took 6 months recently to have my plus 73 years driving licence, also a further amount of time to sort the road tax out on my wifes car because we had changed bank accounts all of which they were told about months before that this was going to happen. I have also heard from other people that their experience is exactly the same.1 point
