Whilst I align with your sentiments regarding MG I don't agree that Hyundai/Kia are "AWFUL". Ten years ago that may have been the case but the range of cars that they produce today are at the cutting edge in terms of design and recognised as such by the car buying public who are seeking above all, reliability and value for money. I have driven various Kia models from the Picanto to the EV6 and have been impressed by the quality. Indeed I came close to purchasing a EV6 to replace my Lexus NX300h two years ago but range issues eventually overtook my enthusiasm for what I considered to be a superb car that was almost on par with Lexus in terms of build quality.7 points

As you’re leasing then the residual won’t be of any concern - if your primarily doing only 150 miles a week then range isn’t a concern. Will you have a home charger - if so, then the RZ will be a great car providing the lease payments are competitive. The recent software update (which a new car will have) have improved the range drop in using the ac / heating so a lot of the early reviews and particularly the What Car review are not as relevant. As a buyer rather than a leaser’ I very much regret getting an EV when I did - I wouldn’t if getting one now ! If you keep to about 60 - 65 on a motorway you may squeeze 200 miles without a charging stop. Charging is fairly rapid, actual world on a 150kw charger really is less than 30 minutes from 20% to 80%. You’ll read a lot about cars having say 250kw charge capacity but the overall average over a charge is always far below that so the actual time saved is say maybe 10 mins. For your mileage I would say if you want to go full EV (no doubt tax will be a major consideration on a company car) then the RZ would be a good car.7 points

I’ve never been able to insure my car with LV as they only insure green cars, my last one was silver and the present one blue.6 points

Worst decision I ever made: buying an RZ. Best decision I ever made: Buying on a 2 year PCP so they can have the overpriced piece of junk back next May6 points

I believe this engineer explains exactly why the noise happens at exactly 15:00 minutes in his video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GWKBbEMCC45 points

We passed a tipping point a few years ago - the majority of the UK population now get more from the government in public expenditure and tax credits / benefits than they put in. A smaller and smaller top slice of the population are paying for nearly everything. The top 10% of earners pay more than 50% of all income tax. The top 1% pay 28%. And 40p? Top rate of tax is 45p plus 2p national insurance - meaning 47% of every £1 earned disappears. And if you’re lucky / unlucky enough to earn between £100k and £125k, your marginal tax rate is *60%*. It’s a small miracle anyone still works hard and pays taxes. I am however very grateful for anyone who buys a new car - as without those purchases, there’d never be any used cars for everyone else to benefit from…5 points

Hello everyone. Became an LBX driver at the end of March. Fortunate enough to have a Dealer prepared to sell a showroom car which exactly met spec and colour we were looking for and therefore avoided the 3 month wait of a factory order. Early days yet and haven’t driven many miles but so far delighted with the car.5 points

Collected my Honda E:Ny1 yesterday, nice drive home and still some battery left. Sad to leave the nx at the Honda dealer but that’s life. To rank my previous cars I would say the LS400 was best, LS430 next, then NX followed by GS300, IS300 then IS200. The most exciting was the Lexus Club events in the mid 1990’s. The Honda is superb, dealership not so good so far. Paperwork took a little time to match the deal we had agreed! Told me I could match the MyHonda+ app with my car at home, then find it needs a Honda mechanic with access to Telematics the first time. Then find the flat tyre compressor is missing from the boot. To be fair they have dealt with these issue very quickly. Likes over the nx. Really huge infomation screen. Touch screen instead of that crazy Lexus touch pad. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Apple Maps full screen top, Apple Music in the middle and dedicated air conditioning below. Genius. NO ENGINE NOISE during acceleration, just a quiet whoosh. Lights come on with fast wipers automatically. Doors close as quietly at the nx. Look and feel quality 99% of the nx. No visits to petrol pumps. Free servicing. Yearly safety inspections. Transmission checks at 100,000 miles, battery and control checks at 150,000 miles. Dislikes. Not a Lexus, I’ll miss the coffee at Lexus Milton Keynes. I know I’ll miss the attention to detail during servicing. Lexus Sheffield and Milton Keynes were exceptional. The around 200 mile range of the Honda won’t be an issue with our current needs. The RZ ev was too big and just too expensive. The UX ev too small and too expensive. Leaving mainly because our driving distances have reduced but the risk of theft has been a factor. If it doesn’t work out I’ll be back.5 points

The gov't will not intervene because they don't give a toss about us. It is gradually dawning on me that I should leave the country ( after 20 yrs in France one gets a better perspective on different gov'ts ). I just read today that Labour intend to tax us even more now that they are confident in winning they don't need to hide the bad news anymore. The only choice is to get out and live in a country that will not fleece ordinary working people - Maybe Portugal? Must do some research before we leave.5 points

From my recent experience there appears to be a decent "stock" of NX in the UK or in shipment to the UK so provided your spec matches an available vehicle then you will get a prompt delivery. Unfortunately my spec (F-Sport 450h+ in Fuji Red with Sunroof and Black/white interior) couldn't be matched and hence I somewhat unexpectedly ended up choosing a RX 450h+! Could have gone for a factory order for the NX however these were paused at the time which leads me to believe that a MY25 upgrade may be coming.5 points

A rather short sighted view IMHO. You bought a car not an app and the car functions very well regardless of the app. I'm sure they will iron out the bugs eventually5 points

Thank you very much so far. Yes I’ve just been reading up about the security issue. It has apple play and has been serviced by Lexus. There were two advisories in the last MOT for tyre wear front. So making sure I hold them to the sword to replace those tyres.5 points
-
It's probably by design. Indy's will actually try to fix stuff. Lexus will not be fixing anything, they just replace stuff. Perfect example is when i had a health check done and they wanted to charge £400 per caliper because they didn't move as they were supposed to. All it needed was £25 replacement slider pins and a bit of elbow grease. Did it myself in the end.5 points

Does it sound like the UFO noise when a car was featured in the puppet show? Yes, it's most likely the Warning noise as mentioned. Mine stops around 15mph I think. I hear my wife coming home from about 100 yards away as her Yaris also creates this noise. It gives me chance to look busy when she arrives!5 points

Jobs planned for over the Easter weekend: Fit new washer level sensor - purchased from Amayama - maybe the sensor is sticking or something but it's getting a new one. Fit new drivers door check assembly - purchased from Amayama - the arm is split on the body side where it fastens with the pin. Oil and filter change Check all front suspension and make sure all is tight and nothing slightly loose - car has developed some suspension noise over speed bumps. And then the biggy and most important...........................check if the transmission fluid cooler is built into the radiator or is separate and take pictures🙂5 points

I found a good solution for carrying muddy bikes inside the car… use the wife’s car 😆4 points

The answer for you GMB may well be to not spend £ 70k on a ‘silly thing like a car’ and drive a 12 year old car, but if I can afford it - which I can and did, then who are you to sit in judgement. The point of the post was about EV values4 points

I was given a VW Polo once when my LS400 was accident damaged. Once I got the LS back I put the Polo in the boot, took it to the local recycling centre and put it in the scrap metal skip.4 points

There have been a number of occasions over the years, that the LS400 has surprised me with a feature I was unaware of, today was another. Forgive me if this is already common knowledge and I'm a dumbass. If you put the climate control onto recirculate, then press and hold auto for a few seconds a menu pops up on the main screen, giving you the ability to change the sensitivity of the air quality detection used to activate the switch from fresh air to recirculate. Well I never knew!4 points

My recent trade in of a NX450h+ Premium Plus with sunroof is currently being advertised by Lexus Edinburgh for £43995. I can throughly recommend the car - it's done less than 19000 miles and was registered in March 22. Its finished in Graphite Black with Hazel leather interior and has the protection pack fitted. Front footwell rugs were unused during my ownership. The upgraded door handles were fitted and all servicing and recalls completed by Lexus Edinburgh. It's a great car - never put a wheel wrong and I averaged over 70mpg after taking the cost of electric charging and converting that to fuel costs. It was washed meticulously every week (including power washing under each wheel arch) and was machine polished prior to handing it back. Think it will be a great buy for someone!4 points

Well all, for better or worse I've almost completed the Rear Screen. I have no room for any Chrome but the beading of butyl is yt to be added and the boot end has to adhere to the platic rail. Before obvious critisism of the work in my defence I've laid awake for almost two months of incessant rain and dry and its been difficult to make progress. Couple this with the fact that I have advanced prostate Cancer, Lymphodeama , DVT and Bilateral Nephrostomys to my kidneys and you will understand wht I'v had to go through becuase of spiteful youths. Its wonky I know. The frivoulous fringe at the bottom is because I cut the material too short but couldnt start all over againand was too lazy to cut it off. Gives it a feminine feel! . I put the wrong side outer and not the rain proof side which meant I had to melt some silicone with white spirit and brush it all over to ensure rain runs off. I have yet to also stick it down to the plastic rail that crosses the boot. I've today glued it to the Cork and need wait 24 hours before finishing. The only Cabrio LS400 in existence?4 points

Like Ken R, I too got one that was Lexus stock , just about to land in UK. Not being as picky as Ken R 😁😁, I was able to get a new NX that matched my needs (I had to forego a sunroof - not an essential to me - but got everything else I wanted)4 points

Driving down the M60 yesterday I think. Somewhere near Manchester, I was driving towards Cheshire. Spotted what looked like a classic Merc in the distance and thought, 'Oh, looks rather lovely just as a classic Merc should'. Got closer then realised it had an L on the badge. 'Oh', and then closer inspection confirmed I was looking at (IIRC) an X or Y reg LS400. Beautiful!! Naturally I couldn't contain myself and gave a little pap of the horn as I overtook carefully. Not satisfied I'd been seen in my less classy LS430, I then proceeded to try and wave (like a moron) with my lights/hazards. If it was you (I think I know who it was), then I'm 😞 sorry... 😊 I get easily excited.4 points

Ha ha, I thought I was getting confused 🤔. We are on a cruise taking in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. We are currently making our way to Keelung so I am sat having a coffee on the ship at 11:30 am, hence the time difference 😆4 points

I think the 2nd Gen NXs have to beep at least 30 times per drive, so if they haven't all been used up during normal driving conditions, any excess beeps are discharged once the journey has finished.4 points

In the past I've always asked things like does the dealership know if the car has been smoked in previously, or been used to carry pets by the previous owner(s), if these things are an issue for you. But as others have said, a 2020 car should mostly be in very good condition.4 points

Sorry - not really had a chance to use it with only a few local journeys recorded and mileage still below 300 completed almost entirely in EV mode. It's extremely comfortable as expected and I'm getting to grips with the technology. Currently getting around 35 miles on a full charge but temperatures are not helping so expect over 40 when they rise to the seasonal norm! Feels MUCH bigger than the NX and more than the actual additional dimensions with supermarket car park spaces tight. The parking aids (camera etc) a huge help. Excess speed notification is a bit of a pain particularly when 20mph signs are misaligned at junctions to 30/40mph roads as the camera picks them up! Have taken up the offer of Lexus minor repair insurance just in case it picks up some scars in car parks etc and considering alloy wheel insurance as well because the rims look particularly vulnerable. More will follow once a get the mileage up.4 points

When I was 18/19 four of us would go out on a Friday night with 10 shillings each in our pockets (50p in modern money). Each bought a round 4 pints at 1s 8p = 6s 6p Entry to dance 2s 6p Fish and chips on way home 1s Total 10s But we were only being paid something like £3 a week4 points

Hi Although this topic has been addressed I thought I would share my experience particularly as my local Dealership sent me a copy of the Lexus Bulletin which authorises the repair under warranty. I purchased an approved used RX 450h and within a few days noticed the dreaded " brake squawk " at low speeds particularly when reversing yet the Dealership failed to diagnose the cause of the issue. Convinced there was a problem I phoned several Lexus Dealerships describing the fault and one Service Manager immediateley identified the " brake squawk" arranged for the parts to be ordered and booked the car in for the repair all under warranty which would have cost £3500 So in case this happens to anyone else I have attached a link to the Lexus Bulletin Hope this may be helpful https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10203537-9999.pdf4 points

Yes lovely colour and quite rare as I have only come across a couple. I recently changed my Graphite Black NX450h+ Premium Plus and was intent on a NX450h+ f-sport in Fuji red with a black and white interior plus sunroof. Couldn't get that colour combo from UK stock unfortunately (nearest was Fuji Red with black interior and sunroof or Fuji Red with black and white interior but no sunroof). Actually have now got an RX Premium Plus in Sonic Platinum with Ammonite Sand interior. Difference in finance terms between the two was amazingly close. Miss my NX but delighted with the RX.4 points

LV don’t seem to want to distinguish between Lexus models that are vulnerable to theft and those that aren’t. Best not to worry about it and just go to another insurer.4 points

Oh aye, when every other car has a number plate made up to spell their name and people interfere with performance chips, I don’t think reducing the volume of the woo woo maker is going to attract the attention of the flying squad. 20,000 new cops on the street my left foot.4 points

Just a warning to all on the Lexus UK Forums. Opened my email this morning and had got two emails to say there was a reply to a post I had been replying to. I did open the email but luckily didn't open the link as I noticed it had come through at 2.31 am in the morning and it was from wizzy millions. So went straight to the forum , signed in and there were no replies. So please be careful forum members as you could not tell the difference just looking at the email listings, usually there is a dash or full stop in the Lexus owners club title but even the Icon was identical to past notifications. Hope no one else has had this happen. Neilj4 points

Respray rings alarm bells with me, sounds like a rattle can job from Halfords. Bear in mind most dealerships don't have a bodyshop facility. I would be asking for a professional refurbishment of the wheel, also needs to be properly checked for any structural damage.4 points
