  2. It’s an intervention from Lexus you need! https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-uk-statement-on-vehicle-theft/?fbclid=IwAR2u1DC_0mAo4_kSpK_1FLViLNyHJq0nAKctwfXCMxQi1CwuNiGBA10yY0w_aem_ATXzc0mSafM1xX72JZyfSo-7KpoTKXtkPQjmf6ToRhjQ_4GsDaGMH6Nf5ACoFWEW2pE Lexus were the most stolen car brand (as a percentage of vehicles on the road) in 2023. Lots of insurers thus refusing to cover any Lexus vehicle at all, or, charging a small fortune…

  3. The gov't will not intervene because they don't give a toss about us. It is gradually dawning on me that I should leave the country ( after 20 yrs in France one gets a better perspective on different gov'ts ). I just read today that Labour intend to tax us even more now that they are confident in winning they don't need to hide the bad news anymore. The only choice is to get out and live in a country that will not fleece ordinary working people - Maybe Portugal? Must do some research before we leave.

  4. Hi Hatat... Do you have access to your service book or manual. Under oil/top up there might be a small section explaining how much is acceptable to lose every 1000 miles. I've had more than one car now (at least 2 were Subarus 3.0L Spec B petrol) that came with a little card explaining that I could lose x amount over 1000 miles. Hence a good idea keeping an eye on the levels and also investigating how much oil loss is acceptable. Might be it's a few 100ml of oil short so at certain angles/times it's sending the low oil signals up. Hope you get it sorted (I know I'd be tempted to check the oil and if at the low mark/tolerance level when cold, to just top it up by a smidgen). *Smidgen being 200 to 300ml.

  5. I can confirm that if you polish it, the strut brace is indeed very shiny and probably adds 10 bhp despite the increase in weight.🙂 The short serious summary answer is, I don't think there's any significant handling advantage in having a front strut brace for normal or even fairly spirited driving. On the track, on the limit or in a smash where it should add a bit more rigidity perhaps it's worth having. To improve the handling without compromising the ride, fit good tyres, coilovers and better ARBs. When I first fitted it I would say I was 'in tune' with the car and was convinced the front top strut brace would make no difference at all but in practice I felt it did make it feel a fraction more stable. It's a shame the old forum notes are gone as I remember doing a very brief review. The SC is good fun and more capable than most realise considering it's a flexible cabriolet but If you want the car to handle and go fast the first thing to do is to leave the roof on, the windows up and think about fitting a roll cage. They are strong, well built cars but you really don't want to be upside down on the tarmac or in a ditch in one of these. Coilovers, wide wheels, wide sticky, tyres, uprated front anti-roll bar (Aristo/GS TTE) and an ISF rear anti-roll bar all definitely make a noticeable difference. Adding the underbody brace also stiffened it. Having a proper leather steering wheel to grip helps too. Mine isn't a posh Cusco brace but it has the optional authentic Lexus sticker to impress Uncle Bob the race scrutineer.

  6. Wish I was. Probably will be unaffordable in 2026. Should have read 2016.

  7. Check it regularly so you can get a feel for it going down, how fast it's going down etc. Unless you're checking it on a hill (as said above), if the car is older could be perishing seals in a number of places with a fairly costly job to get it fixed due to all the things that usually need to come apart. If it's a newer car, it could be something that needs fixing under warranty. Bought a two year old Fiat Panda in 2019 and noticed a lot of wet spots under the engine, turned out it needed some sot of big seal replaced. Done under warranty, no arguing (rare for a Fiat dealer!). Perhaps something like that is why it's dropping?

  9. Just bought a little trailer to hook up to my SC 430. Coffin goes on the trailer and the SC is the hearse pulling it. Still looking for a cemetery that will do the extra large plot so it can be driven straight down into the hole and buried with me. Think I understand what the Pharoahs were trying to do ! 😉

  13. Hi everyone, My bluetooth adapter with the splitter arrived today and it does look like it fits. However, over the last few days I've been taking the door cards off to inspect my speakers because the sound quality has been really bad since I bought the car which wasn't long ago. I've noticed that 90% of the foam is perished from each door speaker and the subwoofer on the rear shelf is a cheapy aftermarket for some reason. Also I remember noticing a few months back, when I had the volume to reasonbly loud, the sound would cut out. I originally thought this would be because of the terrible speakers but now upon inspection, Once they're refoamed, they should be back to new quality. Looking about on the forums and various youtube videos, the amplifier is the main culprit. Instead of chancing it or sourcing another used one that will probably fail in the near future too, I'm now looking at installing my own single din radio which I found a good write up from over the pond (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-3rd-gen-2001-2006/905011-how-to-single-din-head-unit-and-amp-in-ls430-with-factory-nav-ml-no-adapters-needed-3.html) This would also replace my broken cd player. I'd need to source an amplifier that'll probably have to sit in the boot, Although it wouldn't look ideal and spoils the oem look, it would definitely last longer and it also means I'd have the option to connect my phone to it via bluetooth and usb direct. I wouldn't have to spend quite abit on a used Mark Levinson subwoofer either which do go for alot of money! It does look like a right chew on to be honest, but I think its the way to go for me personally and also I should beable to get some help from a friend who is very knowledgable with electronics. Thanks for the help again and I will definitely send some photos and info once its finished! Cheers Barry

  14. I'll be parting with my silver 54 reg. one in maybe June/ July. Had it a couple of years or more. I only covered about 400 miles last year, so not getting the use out of it. It needs some minor paint on a lower front wing, which I hope to address, but the roof panel is flaky. Generally good, no expense spared, had all new brakes last year and a stainless exhaust a couple of years back. No warning lights. Will get some pics up soon, if anyone cares, and more mileage/ owner details. Ged

  15. I think the Honda deal is better value😁. But hang on, the wild flower seeds offer sounds eco friendly and they might not be weeds? Hmm... it's a difficult choice. 😴. After thinking very hard ( it hurt a bit ) I think the solution is go for the Honda and buy your own wild flower seeds from home bargains for 99p.

  16. Depends upon your budget, go for the best spec and age you can afford. The last updated model was 2018 onwards, these are pretty good at F Sport or Takumi spec. Go for the premium nav system (10" screen) Tech Pack and Convivence pack.

  17. Morning Sue. I believe there is sadly nothing you can do about this. From what I have read, all new cars being sold in EU now have to have a mandatory audio warning when you exceed the speed limit. This is not only for Lexus but for all auto manufacturers. I believe the only solution to this currently... is to turn it off every time you get into the car. This is going to be annoying to say the least. We have this in our BMW as well.

  18. Yes I'm with Admiral...the only insurer I found 3 weeks ago to insure my LBX

  19. I managed to get a quote from Admiral 3 weeks ago at £640..so took it as it was the only insurer who recognised an LBX existed..

  20. I has difficulty insuring my LBX on the day I was collecting it...major panic. After turned down by 4 insurers including Halifax, Direct Line ans Aviva....finally found Admiral had updated their database.

  21. Honda offered 5 years warranty and 5 years free servicing. I compared it to the packet of wild flower seeds from Lexus. It was a difficult choice.

  22. Good point. Although it does appear to be a generous offer it does imply that the EV is not suitable for some journeys.

  23. I rec’d a response to my ‘complaint’. It has been escalated so we’ll see if they do use the date of purchase last year, not when the scene came in - last month. They confirmed that in my case I have 2 years 1 month I still have 42 days. There doesn’t seem to be a maximum booking time but they could easily regularise that by saying the car isn’t available after say 2 weeks. They confirmed the RX is on the list - they said that all Hybrid models were available except the LS, LM & LC models. Whilst I agree with John’s point that it’s not a good look, it would have looked better if they had done the upgrade before releasing the car (= better reviews) and included Reserve as an option to drive a different car in the range - disguising the real reason.

  26. Following in from this thread. I managed to get insurance today for my LBX when it is ready for collection. SAGA could not insure as the code is not on their underwriters database. I had several false starts with comparison websites, companies quoting they will insure & clicking the link. I got to their websites & yep, you guessed it. They can’t find the vehicle to carry on with the quote. Finally got all the way with Admiral (under £500) & can drive my car away when it’s ready. 3 hours well spent - not! Karen

  27. That might be a good idea frankly as dirt can indeed get trapped in between the mudflap and the body in some areas and scratch the paint which might be visible if you remove the mudflaps. I didn't do this though as i plan to keep the mudflaps on for as long as i own the car. If they fall off il replace them.

  28. Interior and tilt sensors are switched off by the button in the OCP

  29. That only turns off the internal ultrasonic sensor. The only way (as far as I'm aware but happy to be corrected) is to use the key and lock the car manually.

  30. This was my view…. but on my old car I eventually ended up with about 20 small chips (I used to drive 20k+ miles a year) and decided it was probably time to replace it… (never was a MOT failure or advisory though).

  31. I've had two replacement screens in my IS 300h - one was Pilkington and the other Fuyao. Both were marked up as acoustic glass and other then the name on the glass I couldn't see or hear any difference between OEM and either of these. Both were fitted by Autoglass - I took the car to their centre to be done as it was within walking distance of where I live. I did notice after the last one was fitted that the passenger windscreen wiper was in a higher park position than before and so I removed and repositioned the wiper arm myself. May be worth taking a photo of where your wipers park now so you know they are put back in the same place. The fitter is right in that windscreens are cracked regularly, especially on today's potholed roads throwing up more stones. It's also one of those "probability" issues - for example on a previous car I had gone for many years with no problems and then had three replacement windscreens in nearly as many weeks...! On my IS 300h, I've had the current Fuyao windscreen in for a few years now but in the first year after it was fitted picked up two small bullseye marks near the rear view mirror. Fortunately these have got no worse and I've received no more (large) stone chips and none are a MoT failure. I don't see much sense in doing anything about stone chips as I know one day something will hit the windscreen necessitating another replacement.

  32. Hi All - Finally found the perfect RX450h Premier 2014 with 86k miles and collected it yesterday. Service by Lexus last week so got another year worth of Lexus Warranty. Hybrid Warranty check, New brake pads and Discs done in the last month, with fresh MOT and full service history. Very happy with my choice and I’m glad I didn’t go for the for the lemon with all the advisories. See previous post Just wanted to say many thanks for the keen advice I got on here with helping me make the decision to go for this one… Jag

  36. It’s more whether spending that money just to insure a car is worth it based on other things you’d like to do with said money. In 2022 my annual insurance for the RX was £350. This year it rose to £750. As things stand it’s looking like another rise to £1500 next year if nothing changes! Frankly I’d rather not spend that just to insure the RX, regardless of how much I like it. Add in the potential for theft - or damage trying to steal - and come May / June next year I’ll be changing to another brand.
