  1. As you’re leasing then the residual won’t be of any concern - if your primarily doing only 150 miles a week then range isn’t a concern. Will you have a home charger - if so, then the RZ will be a great car providing the lease payments are competitive. The recent software update (which a new car will have) have improved the range drop in using the ac / heating so a lot of the early reviews and particularly the What Car review are not as relevant. As a buyer rather than a leaser’ I very much regret getting an EV when I did - I wouldn’t if getting one now ! If you keep to about 60 - 65 on a motorway you may squeeze 200 miles without a charging stop. Charging is fairly rapid, actual world on a 150kw charger really is less than 30 minutes from 20% to 80%. You’ll read a lot about cars having say 250kw charge capacity but the overall average over a charge is always far below that so the actual time saved is say maybe 10 mins. For your mileage I would say if you want to go full EV (no doubt tax will be a major consideration on a company car) then the RZ would be a good car.

  2. Jobs planned for over the Easter weekend: Fit new washer level sensor - purchased from Amayama - maybe the sensor is sticking or something but it's getting a new one. Fit new drivers door check assembly - purchased from Amayama - the arm is split on the body side where it fastens with the pin. Oil and filter change Check all front suspension and make sure all is tight and nothing slightly loose - car has developed some suspension noise over speed bumps. And then the biggy and most important...........................check if the transmission fluid cooler is built into the radiator or is separate and take pictures🙂

  3. Lots of interesting views on this thread, it does show how different drivers have different priorities and opinions. I looked at the new CH-R, Yaris Cross, and LBX yesterday and back to back (to back!). There was also a UX in the Lexus showroom. For me, the LBX feels like a higher quality car than the UX. That’s mostly about perception, and it is a newer model, but for me the interior is ‘proper Lexus’ whereas the UX has never been quite there in my opinion. Seeing them both side by side yesterday reinforced that for me. The Yaris Cross felt good. I like the higher seating position, and it’s a practical thing for the size. The downside was it felt a bit ‘tinny’ and there were harder plastics in areas such as the door tops where the others are softer. The LBX was at the other end of the spectrum and I was impressed. The boot was larger than I’d have imagined, and the rear space, although tight, allows feet to go under the front seats quite easily. Rear space isn’t important for me tbh, but it was interesting that it felt quite spacious, albeit not as much as the Yaris where the greater glass area made it feel brighter inside. The CH-R felt like a high quality product, and is bigger than both. I wasn’t a massive fan of the dashboard layout - it seemed to be form over function when compared with the other two - but as with all things you get used to things you use every day. Next step is to drive all three and see if, actually how readily, I can live with the downsize from an RX. Price is also a consideration. Broadly, based on discussions with the dealers and for comparable (top ish) specs and with indicated discounts factored in, it would be about £29k for the Yaris (AWD), £34k for the CH-R (FWD) and almost £40k for the LBX. I still feel like the LBX is overpriced in comparison despite clearly being a lovely thing. The question will be whether I think it’s worth it vs other priorities. I’m also looking at and driving a Mazda CX-30 on Tuesday for a further option.

  4. Well after a month of ownership I’ve decided that bought wisely (and with the help of my Forum Friends) these are incredible value for money. Pound for pound smiles I don’t think they can be beaten. I wanted a car that made me want to drive anywhere and everywhere …… not just to get from A to B but to enjoy the experience of getting there. Im one very happy SC430 owner.

  5. I have just taken delivery of a brand new UX250H Sport Design. After reading several positive reviews about the new Lexus LBX I was interested in purchasing this vehicle subject to a test drive. Three weeks ago I was informed by my local Lexus dealership that a LBX Takumi was available for a test drive. I had narrowed my choice down to two cars, the LBX and the UX250H sport design. I was currently driving a RX450H which is a fantastic quiet refined vehicle, but rather large for just my wife and I. We arrived at the local Lexus dealership in order to test drive the LBX and UX vehicles back to back. Firstly we drove the UX 250h sport, we were both pleasantly surprised how comfortable and easy to drive the vehicle was, manoeuvrability excellent, road noise not to intrusive, and a big bonus - (no horrible beeping noises if you are travelling above the speed limit). We then drove the LBX Takumi, and I must say that we were both a little disappointed with the drive, the suspension seemed to be on the firm side, and the power delivery was not as smooth as the UX250H, also we found the seats to be uncomfortable. My wife and I both agreed that that UX 250H was the car for us. We managed to negotiate a very good price for the UX250H Sport Design, Lexus are trying to sell-off the old stock of the UX before the newer model arrives (UX300H). Having driven the UX over the past few days I am absolutely delighted with the car, on short journeys the car is averaging nearly 50mpg. Please see attached pictures.

  8. Just a warning to all on the Lexus UK Forums. Opened my email this morning and had got two emails to say there was a reply to a post I had been replying to. I did open the email but luckily didn't open the link as I noticed it had come through at 2.31 am in the morning and it was from wizzy millions. So went straight to the forum , signed in and there were no replies. So please be careful forum members as you could not tell the difference just looking at the email listings, usually there is a dash or full stop in the Lexus owners club title but even the Icon was identical to past notifications. Hope no one else has had this happen. Neilj

  9. Does it sound like the UFO noise when a car was featured in the puppet show? Yes, it's most likely the Warning noise as mentioned. Mine stops around 15mph I think. I hear my wife coming home from about 100 yards away as her Yaris also creates this noise. It gives me chance to look busy when she arrives!

  10. Respray rings alarm bells with me, sounds like a rattle can job from Halfords. Bear in mind most dealerships don't have a bodyshop facility. I would be asking for a professional refurbishment of the wheel, also needs to be properly checked for any structural damage.

  13. You need to add up the list price (which includes VAT but doesn't include delivery, number plates, VED and registration fee) of the vehicle plus all options/accessories. If it is over £40k you pay the extra tax in years 2 to 6 of the vehicle's life + the normal VED (£390+£170), if it is under £40k then there is no extra - just the normal VED (£170).

  14. You could just ask for a regas, that may well fix the issue. Best thing with air con is to leave it on all the time, otherwise seals etc can dry out.

  15. The only downside to getting this car at such a good price is that I keep thinking something is going to go wrong……. Despite now having clocked up 750 miles and an MOT qualified mechanic telling me it’s in great order. 😉 I do indeed ‘get it’ now and can’t believe word hasn’t got out. These cars are fantastic fun and great value for money.

  17. I would’ve looked elsewhere too - but up to 10 years warranty on Toyota/Lexus is a no brainier for me. Just extra cautious I guess…

  18. You would get a little more boot and interior space 😉 On paper it is a little difficult to justify the price difference between the two these days. Yes the RX is a nicer place to be with a slightly higher spec and improved sound insulation but the main difference used to be the drivetrain and they are the same now (with the NX improved and the RX worse without it's V6).

  22. As it appeared for me - the problem returned back so I googled what else I can do. There was a suggestion to clean the motors inside - especially the commutator and brushes. But the motors were different from what I have, so needed to figure out how to get inside. The pieces are connected mechanically, creating a lock to keep them together: It appeared to be easy to pop up the upper part with a small screwdriver put into a hole between the plastic part and the main body: Im my case there wasn't any rust, just oil mixed with graphite from the brushes, making the commutator non-working: I used WD40 contact cleaner with paper and Fiberglass Scratch Brush Pencil to clean the commutator and brushes: Be careful and don't lose the white plastic ring - it keeps the lamels together and the motor cannot be used without it: Then I assembled all parts using some superglue on one of the motorts (the one where I damaged the locking parts on a metal body, while tried to figure out how to disassemble it). The second motor where I used a screwdriver from the beginning to pop it up - the parts are attached securely. In the end I cleaned all the plastic gears and applied a silicone grease for plastics rubber seals: It's been a few days already and all work smooth and fast. The only issue I had from my very first attempt - I have auto dimming mirrors, so after the reinstalling them into the mirror body I have non-working spots where I pushed the mirrors to fasten them.

  23. Fair play to the sales staff at Swindon if they got anywhere near the asking price! and hope they paid the ex-owner a decent price too.... It is top of the pile for a GSF, and obviously there was a buyer looking for that exact car that made the deal click. The market today for large engined (4L+) thirsty super saloons is limited, and they're a dying breed. The right example will always find a buyer, only cars with the right provenance low mileage, low owners, faultless history etc etc etc, will see prices rise. Those cars that have been used, loved and past through many hands will just get caught up in the mix. In my opinion the GSF will probably fair better than the others, due to its rarity (hopefully for the owners) However rarity doesn't always guarantee a sale. My brother has a 1 previous owner merc c63 507 Saloon black on black for sale <35k miles and is mint, priced sensibly - a proper unicorn. Not even a nibble. Time will tell for the F's.

  24. I'm helping my son look for a car he can use for long commutes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and I'm delighted that he's only looking at LS400s. Current contender looks great, getting it mechanically checked out, the only downside is I suspect it has probably been clocked twice, but its not the end of the world. I'll also post photos of another one, which has an interesting interior that i suspect will polarise opinions on this forum.

  29. I always find it interesting how different drivers find the same car. Even coming from an RX, I found the less powerful CX-30 absolutely fine when test driving today. Power seemed good to me, not gutless at all. A bigger concern was the move back to a torque converter gearbox which I found quite jerky after years with the smooth eCVT. I was quite impressed with the Mazda all round, but financially I can’t really make it make sense. If I’m downsizing I expect to pay significantly less, but that isn’t the case with any of the options. I think I’m moving to a position of keeping the RX for another year, as the deal I got back in 2021 was so good even the higher insurance doesn’t offset the cost to change to an inferior vehicle. With the promise of a technical solution to CANBUS in April, I think it’s right to hold on for now. And after all, I do love the RX…

  30. If you get a regas make sure they know it’s a hybrid that needs special oil ie ND11 and not PAG as used in normal cars. Otherwise can ruin the compressor which actually runs in the oil. Good luck

  33. Replacing the timing belt is the insurance policy you don’t get a 5-10k destroyed engine . Owners are just playing Russian roulette if it’s over due. With used SC430’s it’s finding the balance between a totally neglected model to ones that only ever seen a main dealer for everything. Gary’s example was one they stands out to me, very low price paid yet only needed servicing etc 👍🏻

  34. No, EVs are the opposite - they are efficient at low speed but are worse at high speed due to wind resistance.

  36. They have to remove the front bumper so there is the possibility of damage, same as when any work is undertaken. But I would expect the dealer to be liable for any damage.

  37. Since then I had to reboot a number of times. The last few, before reboots, I did the following distances. 400km, 300km, 56km, now I'm 2500km since last reboot and she's behaving beautifully. I didn't do anything else, so I have no idea what changed. Great mileage, clean exhaust pipes, beautifully smooth gear changes. I was about to have the ECU computer checked over by an expert here in New Zealand, but it was holidays so it couldn't be done at the time, but that's when it came right! I wait in trepidation to see what happens!

Actually won an award at an Exclusive JDM show which was a proud moment, all the hard work over the years payed off. Did another Exclusive JDM show at Sturgate straight and managed to really stretch its legs, 1st time launching the car and using the 2step properly. Absolutely loved it! 44. It will stop them being stolen for spares, as the chop shops will no longer take them in. The police are now getting 87% conviction rate on chop shops found with Identifiable smart water registered stolen parts. It's like leaving DNA at a crime scene lol! If a thief nicks one he's unable to unload it, even just displaying the stickers is often enough to curtail his interest and make him move on. Of course it doesn't prevent joy riders, but that is a minor consideration for most owners. I will be setting about marking mine tomorrow as the kit is already registered to the car. The stickers have been on for a while, next to the Catloc ones. Knowing what I know now, if the PCSO had not gifted me one I would have gone out and bought one myself @ under£60. I'm sure it will be an insurance premium positive, eventually.

  45. It was the case with the old app and probably still the case that not all services were available straight away. In my case, my dealer had set up my email address with Lexus HQ prior to collection so the car and app could be linked when I picked the car up. All the services were fully working in 3 or 4 days.

  46. You are right to test drive both. I doubt the Toyota will have the “quality” feel of the Lexus but should still be good. The increased ride height and narrower body might well be the clincher for many. Coming from a Skoda Yeti I really felt that the LBX was low with less visibility than I’m used to, not a deal breaker but concerning nevertheless. Still going to take an extended road test but now looking at alternatives as well. Finally seat comfort was so so, though I think that maybe because in a lower car your legs are straighter rather than more naturally “bent” as in a higher seating position SUV. My passenger remarked on that aspect particularly.
