New Sport Grade Added to Lexus CT and IS Ranges
By James Mosley
Lexus has announced that it is adding more driver and sports appeal to the Lexus CT and Lexus IS ranges with the addition of the new “sport” trim grade.
The announcement comes as the 2.0 turbocharged Lexus IS200t officially goes on sale and is available in the new sport grade as well as F Sport and Premier grades.
The new IS200t will feature alongside the existing Lexus IS300h in the range and features a 2.0 turbocharged engine producing 241bhp and 350nm of torque to propel the IS200t to 62mph in 7 seconds flat and on to 143mph. The 8 speed automatic transmission in the car was originally developed for the RC-F and helps to add an extra performance dimension to the car’s rear wheel drive chassis set up.
On the IS range, sport grade is based on the current Luxury grade but adds several sports themed touches such as unique 5 spoke 18 inch black alloy wheels, a black finish on the front spindle grill and door mirror casings, plus a unique interior trim with black cloth seats and light Tahara leather effect seat bolsters. Contrasting grey stitching is also being used to enhance the look. The front seats are also heated and Lexus Navigation is a standar feature for the sport model.
As is is based on the Luxury grade, also included is front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, dusk-sensing HID headlights, LED daytime running lights, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, dual zone climate control, cruise control, Smart Entry and start plus a six-speaker Lexus audio system with DAB and Bluetooth.
The IS200t sport weighs in at £28,995 for the sport, £31,495 for the F Sport and £35,750 for the premier. The IS300h costs £29,995 in sport trim. New colours are also being offered for the IS range with Fuji Red (solid), Sonic White and Azure Blue (F Sport only) now available.
The Lexus CT200h Sport is based on the previous Advance Plus model, and also features several sporty additions similar to the IS. This includes the black front spindle grill and door mirror casings, a rear diffuser and unique 17 inch black alloy wheels. Lexus Navigation and a sunroof also feature as standard with this model, together with the black cloth and Tahara seats with grey stitching as seen in the IS.
Carried over from the Advance Plus are heated front seats, Smart Entry and start, front and rear parking centres, Lexus Navigation with remote dial control, cruise control, rear privacy glass plus a six-speaker audio system with DAB and Bluetooth, dual-zone climate control and rain-sensing wipers.
Like the IS, the CT also has some new colours available with Graphite Black and Deep Blue now being offered. CT200h Sport customers can also choose to have their roof in a contrasting solid black at no extra cost.
The CT200h Sport is priced at £25,495 with both the sport models of the CT and IS available to order at dealers from next week. First customer deliveries are expected to be in November.
