  1. YEP, the gens are good, i run my rx on them and cant complain at all, very good and havent really noticed any difference in noise levels either, think i paid approx £120 a corner
  2. hi guys, today my g/f drove her car to lexus plymouth for a service, she knew she had a gearbox leak and that was gonna be sorted at same time, unfortunately the car started to smoke badly before she got there, she carried on to the garage, 200yds to go and she lost all drive, lexus mechanic was behind her and had to run for a fire extinguisher as it caught fire( nearest dealer is an hour away from where we live), they have quoted her about 4k(OUCH!!!!!) to replaced gearbox, car is is300 52 plate was approx 70k, any ideas where we could get a replacement/recon box?, any info/advice appreiciated, cheers Steve
  3. hi guys, bit late i know but i have to agree, my 2004 rx300 was fantastic, we live at the bottom of a steep hill, solid ice before christmas, tires make a lot of difference too, i am running general grabber uhp's all roung, 235/55-18, these are all seasons tires instead of the crapy bridgestone summer tires (oem), pulled my g/f's is300 from half way up the hill and then went down for a 3 series bmw and nextdoors vauxhall zafira which i told them to leave in nutral(traction light did cut in a couple of times with this lol), i was the only 1 who could get up and down for 2 days, in the snow the car behaved very well, never had any problems anywhere, very sure footed, i would recommend good all season tires tho, makes a world of difference
  4. Hi, I have just had a similar problem, i bought a brand new battery in jan 09, no problems until now, dec 09, went away for a week and left my car at the airport, got back, jumped in and dead battery, just a bit of clicking from the starter then nothing, it was cold the week i was away, -2 to +4deg, surely this shouldnt happen, could it be a duff battery or maybe the altinator isnt putting the correct amount of charge in when im driving, also somebody mentioned to me that i might have a drain on the system, ie. something not shutting down and using a small amount of power even when the car is off and locked, it does have dvd and tv in but only powered when ignition is on although they do have memory power, wouldnt have thought that would drain the battery too much tho, any advice would be very helpful, thanks

  6. Hi guys, I have spoken to dvla/dvlc?, anyway, they confirmed that the £950 only applies to new cars registered in that year so you are correct, 2009 will be £400, 2010 will £455, either way it looks like legalised robbery to me considering they're not even spending the money on our roads
  7. WELL here goes, if you buy an rx300 registered between 01/03/2001 and 23/03/2006 2008/2009 road tax will be £210 for 12months, from 01/03/2009 it will be £400 for 12months, from 01/03/2010 it will be £950 for 12months, then from 01/03/2011 it will be £440 for 12months, SHOCKING , they haven't got a clue, the uk is the ONLY country in the world applying this stupid tax, I have a 2004 RX300 Se-l with lexus rear entertainment system in it for sale, 41k miles, mail me if interested, lol, steve
  8. yeah we have, its pants, we prefer our old portable system. we are changing the batteries all the time! I had the same problem, I had the volume up full on the headphones but still no sound, point the remote at the dvd player, on the right hand side of the remote above the blue buttons at the bottom in the silver section there is a button that says volume, keep pressing it to turn the output volume of the dvd player to full, hope this helps, it took me a while to figure it out
