  1. Last week I sold my RX300-SE for £23.500. Traded it in & have gone back to RAV4 XT4. My wife & I could not get on with the Lexus we only had it for 5 months. The foot /hand brake really got on my nerves I`m 6ft 4" & it was a real pain using that brake. Lots of other niggly things that I won`t go onto. We are happy Ravers again Regards to all ;)
  2. Sorry about your experience with Lexus steeler. I bought a second hand RX (latest edition) from Lexus Poole & when I picked up the car with my wife. We were ushered into a seperate show room where our car was waiting, you would of thought it was brand new by the way it was presented. They had thrown in a boot mat (the one with the rubbery raised sides with Lexus logo imbeded) also the rear bumper protector. We got a full tank of petrol & my wife got the flowers. We also had the phone call from Lexus a few days later. We just can`t complain! We did not get quite the same treatment from Toyota on either of our new Rav 4`s Regards Alex
  3. Hi All I have just come back from another glorious day out & I actually had a lurch without trying too! I had taken a diversion into some tea rooms in Somerset only to find they were closed, my wife and I decided we did not want to wait three quarters of an hour for the opening for a cup of tea etc. so did a three point turn and proceded up a steep incline to get back on the road we were originaly on----- and then it happened, half way up the incline a slight snatch. "Did you feel that" I said to my wife? "Yes" she said--- "So what"? "Thats the lurch I`ve been telling you about on the Forums". She replied --- "Is that really what all the fuss is about"? I think the car just changed from second to first to get us up the hill but the snatch really was no big deal. The rest of the day the car has been its usual self--- a pleasure to drive. I have had this car for 3 months now and this is the about the third/fourth lurch experience I`ve had with this vehicle and every time it`s happened it`s been a minor experience. I do not want to become paranoid waiting for a lurch to happen! When it happens there allways seems to be a good reason for it like the above and its really quite minor in this car. Alex
  4. JohnRX400h very well put! As I have said in an earlier post there only seems to be a handfull of people complaining about a "Serious lurch" I can get a minor lurch if I try (foot down hard at 8-20 mph) but I do not drive like that so I don`t get the lurch. Sure if you are the unlucky one that gets it keep on to Lexus. But do not let it get out of hand. This thread is being monitored but I can`t lie and exaggerate about the lurch. Lexus must be looking into it but if there findings are not showing a serious lurch on the car or cars they are testing, what do they do? It must be just as annoying if you have a £39K that is not up to the promised spec. To sum up--------------- If the word gets out that Lexus RX300 has a serious lurch who will want to buy one. Then what??????????????? Alex
  5. I have been reading again all the comments made in this thread. I have also experimented with various driving speeds & gears etc. to get the not so desired lurch! I can get the lurching effect as described in my previous posts, however it is nowhere near as bad as described by some of you in this thread. BHives is using Super Unleaded I don`t know what grade that is but I`m using 95 Octane petrol & also averaging about 25 mpg. Lexus are suggesting 97 Octane for best results! Just maybe BHive has a point, I would like to try 97 Octane fuel when I can find some. Also if this problem is as bad as some are saying on this thread why are there only about 12-15 people moaning about it. If it was that bad surley there would be more complaints registered? Some of my friends lurch with gearboxed cars but thats down to bad gear changes Regards Alex
  6. Surley some one knows what I`m talking about or has some input? Alex
  7. Hi Baz my appoligies for not getting back to this thread (Holiday season & all) I was surprised by the thickness difference in cd`s in that there is`nt any. The TDK & original cd`s both measure 1.00mm thick. I also tried stacking 6 cd`s on top of each other in 2 piles TDK in 1 pile & the originals in another, again there was no big difference in the pile height. However I have been warned by the Lexus dealer that it would be a costly repair if the backup cd`s were found to be causing any jam up in the cd unit, only originals would be covered by the warranty! Regards Alex
  8. When I picked up my RX300 a few weeks ago now. My wife & I could smell a vanilla essence coming from the car, at the time we thought it could be the polish used to clean the interior of the car but the smell is just as strong now it`s not over powering or anything like that it`s just really pleasant. Any one else noticed this or no what I`m talking about & if so where is it coming from? Regards Alex
  9. Good luck Realspeed. I changed from a new Rav 4 XT3 to a RX300 because I needed a bigger vehicle but its still in the Toyota group, lots of simularities in the car that were back on my Carina as well. Regards Alex
  10. I`ve had the same problem on my Toyota Rav 4 the GX version after the first winter I noticed the decline in the wheels & thought it was down to me not looking after them properly. The second Rav 4 the XT3 version had a different wheel pattern, I regulary cleaned & polished protected them & they were still good one year later. I then traded it in for the RX300. What a good move. Treating these wheels with the same weekly clean/polish so to early to say yet. Regards Alex
  11. Hi DSL I don`t have the obvious answer to your idling question but if I was faced with the same problem I would go straight back to Lexus for them to sort it! In the long run it would save you time & money, also it`s got to be risky driving on roads not knowing when it`s going to conk out & you could be involved in an accident because of it. Regards Alex
  12. Looking forward to the 1st August it will intersesting to see the answer to this niggling problem! Regards Alex
  13. I`m back into work next Tuesday (2nd August) & will measure the thickness of some original cd`s & some burnt (TDK`s) using a digital vernier & will let you all know the result. Meanwhile some one out there might have the answer to this question "Is it safe to use burnt cd`s in a auto changer for the RX300 or any other changer" Alex
  14. Hi Alex, don't know how that works as each cd holder is seperate, also if they were thicker it would affect any cd player, i think the Lexus guy has got that wrong. Unless someone out there knows different! off topic i know but interesting. Still think the system sounds well good, much better than most cars i've heard. ← Hi Bartierx When I went to pick up my car I took some burnt cd`s with me to put into the unit. The lexus guy told me that I could possibly use 1 disc at a time in the player but if it did jam & the burnt cd`s were found in the unit that it would be costly for me to have Lexus repair & remove the offending cd`s as they were not the originals??? I don`t think its worth the risk. What would you do? Regards Alex
  15. I had a word with my Lexus dealer on Friday (22/07/05) knowing he drives a RX300 SE-L. I explained I was very happy with my car but I have noticed for about the last 3 weeks that my car seemed to lurch forward at certain low speeds & explained the symptons as we know it! He seemed to be aware of the situation but was reluctant to say to much about the matter. I then explained about this web site & what was trying to be achieved by certain individuals working along side "m`ladys husband" & Lexus etc. I was then assured that If & When the problem is fixed we would get the relevent upgrade. Regards to you all Alex
