  1. Anyone got one of these clips that hold the rod under the bonnet for an IS200. Found this on ebay :- ebay link Is this how much these things cost or can anyone do better? Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi - I've tried this with my keys and I can get up to the bit that requires me to press the lock and unlock buttons on the key at the same time, but then that follows with the door locking and unlocking twice. ie. Twice meaning it hasn't worked. Any tips on what I could be doing wrong at that stage ? Thanks, redtedx
  3. Well if that combination fixes the keys, then these steps need to be pinned by some moderator in these forums. Since I've got my keys fixed by Lexus, I guess I won't be trying this out ... until next time. Cheers.
  4. Hi all - as a follow up to my problem of remote locking on my IS200 failing after a flat car battery... I contacted my nearest Lexus dealer today... they advised that the keys shouldn't haved failed after a flat car battery - but couldn't be sure, they said it sounded like they needed to be re-programmed to fix and I would need to bring the car in. The dealer I spoke to said there would be a charge of £68+vat for the re-coding - which I obviously didn't like the sound of. Taking advice from LOC, I then contacted my second nearest Lexus dealer who said they would re-code the keys for free as it would take minutes to do. So did that and everything's now fixed and best bit is it didn't cost a penny. (and I even got a free coffee in the posh lexus showroom :)
  5. Hi guys - I today found my IS200 battery was going flat - the car wouldn't start and the remote key only just managed to unlock the door. So - I disconnected the battery and re-charged it ... all that seems to have gone ok... But now both my keys no longer remotely lock/unlock the car. Reading the forums I can't find any specific answer to help me. The key battery itself looks fine - ie the red LED comes up on pressing buttons. Any tips please ? Thanks in advance.
  6. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Autoleads-Facia-Adap...oQQcmdZViewItem - £10 cheaper :D
  7. thanks ad77 - I'ved PMed Fargo ... just incase anyone else can advise too... The audio fitter has advised that he needs to order the adaptor for the aftermarket stereo to work properly with the sat-nav which is fine if that's the case. So a few Qs... 1. Can you confirm if this £40 or so adaptor will do the trick... ie will all the GPS voice stuff all work as normal etc. 2. My new CD player has a built in amp so the audio fitter chap had removed it from the lexus. Is it the case that the sat-nav will not need it either ?
  8. I recently purchased a JVC KD-AVX1 and gave it for fitting into my IS200 SE (navigator) by a local audio-fitter-bod. After a 2 hr installation, I got my car back with new CD player all working. (the old stereo and amp were removed from the car). The fitter advised that the connectors for the unit were incompatible - and to avoid buying an adaptor, he had wired the unit up manually - fine by me if it saved me a £40 something cost of the adaptor as quoted. However, when I tried out my sat-nav it tilted open as usual, but no picture. The fitter plugged the old lexus stereo back in to test and the sat-nav worked again. He advised, that I will need to buy the adaptor afterall ... I presume he's right - but have others had this problem with their sat-nav with an aftermarket stereo ? And did you need to buy an adaptor costing that much ? Any advice or where the adaptor can be purchased from would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  9. I'm also in the process of looking to replace my CD player ... found this facia... http://www.demonkar.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=855
  10. I'm still having the odd ERR3 with my CD player so thought I'd enquire about a replacement unit from Lexus or at least a repair (I have a 99 IS200SE out of warranty) A new unit was quoted at over £1500! And a repair at around £300+ So the obvious alternative is to go for an aftermarket solution ... I reckon buying a new CD unit and facia, and fitting can cost less that £300. I've found a decent priced facia adaptor ... see :- http://www.demonkar.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=855 Now I need to find a CD player/changer that I like. As stated I have a 99 IS200SE... will the amp in this work with any CD unit I consider buying? Are there any articles/threads indicating any pitfalls I need to consider ? Thanks in advance.
  11. To follow up - on my original posting ... might help others in my position. As stated - after trying the fuse trick all the jammed CDs came out but the unit stated on the display as if it still was hogging all CDs. I couldn't insert new CDs or reset the unit in anyway. Hitting Eject or Load made no noise - just showed the ERR3 again. But - this morning while driving I pressed the eject button again a few times and the unit attempted to eject a CD - made some wizzing noises, realises that there was no CD in the unit and it cleared the display. I then held down Eject which beeped to eject all CDs and it cleared all the display and the unit is now working again fine. I won't be trying CDRs in there again. Not sure if it was the overnight rest for the sensitive CD player that helped or if it was the potholes I was driving through that made the difference. My conclusion is that I need to treat CD player with care as it is a sensitive little thing.... but when it goes wrong a good slap may put it right...
  12. Hi - yes another ERR3 post... I've done a search but no answers to this specific problem, can anyone help...? I had the ERR3 with 6 CDs in my stereo (IS200 year 1999) and tried the removing the fuse trick which ejected all 6 CDs - whoopie! but my joy was short lived. Now the empty stereo display shows as if there are still 6 CDs in the unit and instantly displays the ERR3. I've tried removing the fuse again but that doesn't help. Has anyone come across the same problem ? Any ideas ? Solutions ? Is dismantling the unit going to help ? Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance...
