  1. Hi Friso. i had a look at that car a couple of days ago because I too like the interior tan. just a couple of my thoughts ... the dealer was making out he wanted extra as it has a tow bar...only used for a bike rack , says he . well , have another look at the boot scuff plate.. it's heavily dented , and so is the back of the middle arm rest. Personally , I reckoned it's been doing some heavy haulage. I personally would insist on a price reduction , because it's clearly had a rougher time than your average RX , and although you and I like the tan , we are a rare breed... come resale time , the first thing that the salesmen will say is....ooh , that'll be hard for me to sell on ! Good luck
  2. My photochromatic wing mirrors have committed hari-Kari . Has anyone any experience of the clip-on style replacements on eBay etc ? Cheers.
  3. No, I know what you mean . It was something like turn the ignition whilst pressing the odo trip button and plugging in the seatbelt ! Odo changes to on or off . Hopefully someone will remember .
  4. Rx 16 453 L Nx 475L Nx France 550L ( hence my confusion perhaps ! They must measure it differently )
  5. Having had a very good crawl over the f pace at the Geneva Motor Show , there were two stand out problems that put me and my wife off . Firstly the space in the back seats is ruined by the transmission tunnel . No room for 3 adults in the back and if you try putting three children in there they will be kicking the air con unit to pieces that is mounted just where their feet will be straddling the tunnel. Secondly the plastics are cheap . I'm a Subaru owner, so I should know ! And in general the finish is disappointing, especially where they hope you won't look eg beneath the boot floor where the space saver wheel would be is a polystyrene tray Ikea would be embarrassed to put their name too! Real shame, as I really wanted to like it ! The Nx had the best drivers seat of anything I sat in ( along with a very smart bmw 335 d X drive but they were of course optional extra " individual leather" ) 2016 rx spoiled by lack of boot space . So test driving the nx 's and 2014 rx soon.
  6. Has anyone managed to find crossbars for the panoramic roof , please ? Thule or otherwise . I see from the options list that if you order the panoramic roof then the roof rails are removed . Thule do offer cross bars for an nx without rails but has anyone with a panoramic roof tried them? cheers.
  7. Hi. Im just considering purchasing a 450h and love the look of the panoramic roof , but would appreciate some feedback on its practicality . First off, I can't work out whether roof rails or roof racks can be fitted . Otherwise are there any drawbacks I should consider ? Im struggling to chose between a 2014 advance , f, or premium . Or NX ! (Living where I do I dont think that the NX is powerful enough to cope with all the hills). Are the ventilated seats or hud worth the upgrade over an Advance ? My 2003 RXSEL is soldiering on but now exhibits ALL of the common faults (laminated alloys, errant air suspension , wing mirror fluid has leaked out , brake cable seized (salt!), ignition key sometimes won't go in( ...hammer in glove compartment !...) cd error 3,4 1 , and yet , for 10 years now, it starts every day whatever the weather and the interior looks no different to the 2014 model. Thanks in advance.
  8. Thankyou !!! It worked just as you said ( rx300 SEL 03 ) . The twitch is almost gone !
  9. Hi, I own a uk rx300sel 53 model in france and stuck the stickers on that they sell in the shop at dover.Haven't had any problems with them at all..they specifically mentioned lesus rx300 on the list.
  10. A proper winter pack..defrost front screen, heated wheel, heated washer fluid.remote start from my house! dvd in the sat nav, adjustable arm rests,a cruise control that doesn't shift down every time you go up a slight hill, another 5 miles per gallon
  11. P.S.: James, are you the guy who bought the RX at a sort of auction? How is the car doing? Hi yes I am.It was from Lexus Finance. The car is performing great thanks.I have a set of pirelli scorpion snow and ice tyres on ,which have only been used in anger once and seemed fine.I too am more worried about going down hill than up ,it is a heavy car and you are correct..you dont want to be going down on the brakes so I manually select a low gear to go down the mountain. But the tyres make all the difference..they are superb at stopping the car .First automatic I have owned so I still find my Subaru Forester Turbo easier to drive around in the snow, but even that has a few dents in it now!! Only complaints the alloys are corroded..72000 miles so out of warrenty but only 2 years old,the seat belt buzzer is annoying, and Lexus Guildford stuck cheap windscreen washer in so it is frozen solid..-17C the other week, car started perfectly. ps that is the other reason you should get winter tyres..they stay soft below freezing. ps I see it is snowing in Turin today..just in time for the winter Olympics, which are less prepared than Athens was last summer!! Do you know where I can get a cheap european sat nav dvd..my uk version is a bit basic on the back roads of geneva.
  12. me neither.I would love to turn it off..I have to take my belt off to get into/: out off a car park and it drives me potty.
  13. Hi no it doesn't lock it in second..you just pull away in second instead of first.Nice tyres!Live in chamonix and haven't touched the snow button yet..seems to behave just fine without it.the ect doesn't so anything else..stand to be corrected.
  14. Cheers guys, thought not.But as for a car bra.. I've spent too many years laughing at the yanks so can't go down that road.I'll just leave it til I sell. That 'll be about 10 years then!
  15. Hi .i have just purchased a second hand rx 300 se-l from lexus finance ( NOT from a dealer) and it is fab apart from loads of stone chipping.I know there have been threads on this one but has anyone had any success at getting Lexus to fix this one or am I waisting my time persuing it? The car has done 72000 which, fair enough,is alot of miles but I have plenty of cars with high mileage that are fine and aren't 'pedigree' cars such as this !!
  16. from toyota finace fleet auction..if it doesn't go above my reserve price
  17. Yup but those are on my subaru forester! Buying my first rx today..hopefully.
  18. Hi, never have understood all these tyre sizes... Need winter tyres (live in Chamonix) and have 2 options - keep original 18'' wheels and pick up winter tyre or downsize to 17'' and buy set of wheels and tyres. 1) If I keep the original wheels (235/55/r18) can I use 235/60/r18 as these are available in much better makes eg Pirelli Scorpion Snow and Ice 2) If I go 17'' I believe UK standard is 225/60/r17 but again there is much better choice in 235/65/r17..which is the standard fit on US rx 330 ..would these fit with no problems? Thanks guys..confused..James car is rx300 se-l .. dont know if the air suspension makes any difference?
  19. Hi, I'm just about to toad test a mk1 300 se from a private seller. Is there anything in particular that I should look out for? I was wondering for example how to distinguish a re-badged harrier ? Corroded alloys, lurching,rattles.. any suggestions ?
  20. ps what size tyre did they reccommend .pps if you know anyone else coming to chamonix check out my web site. www.chamonixcottage.com !!
  21. Glad you found it useful.I have used them exclusively for a while now and highly recommend them. The US 330 is the Uk mk2 isn't it.? Dont see a problem there. As for 5 wheels, dont bother .If you are so unlucky as to get a puncture your spare will get you to a garage.dont know about the plate.my guess is that it is a spacer to make up for the fact the wheel is narrower.Blizzaks are serious snow tryes..great traction..so worse noise, more wear, worse fuel consumption but you wont need chains.Had a metre of snow last year ,never used chains, snow tryes are just fab! Word of warning..be very careful going downhill..rx's are trucks made to look like cars..they are heavy beasts..even snow tyres can struggle ..dont get over confident.
  22. Hi again. For great advice and everything you never wanted to know about chosing tyres check out www.tirerack.com. Note the american spelling. Stick in your car and it will tell you what choices you can have for winter tyres etc.
  23. Hi. I am new to this forum and am just about to buy an rx 300.But thought I might be able to help as I live in Chamonix and was looking for info on tyre choice!.First of all.. there is no substitute for 2 sets of wheels.. 16'' for the winter with dedicated winter tryes and your 18 '' for the summer ,.This will be my choice, but then again I live here so I'll swap them over twice a year and be done with it. If you are coming here on holiday you have a tricky decision.18'' summer tyres are the equivilent of having 4 snowboards under you ! If they are all season tyres you might be ok but 18'' is still the problem. I would get chains for the front only and hope you dont have to put them on ! I had an impreza WRX sti (world rally champions etc etc) with 17'' and it went straight of the road until I put some winter tyres on it and then it was awesome. The uk seems to have a blind spot about winter tyres ..hence the annual chaos..and dealers and trye fitters haven't the stock. 4 18'' winter tyres will cost a packet and you'll never use them and wont be able to sell them either.Just be practical and stick to chains ,but hope you dont have to ut them on (frozen fingers) .They clear the roads dead quick anyway. ps I am looking to buy rx300 se under 15k..anyone? And what 17'' summer tyres do you all have ? Happy skiing.
