  1. Steve (Admin) is getting married to Xiaojing on 9th July. I thought it would be nice to open a topic for people to send their congratulations. To kick it off...good luck for the 9th and all very best wishes to you both :D
  2. Try to stay calm and keep to the facts and hopefully she'll be proved to be lying. Good luck
  3. Glad to see you back and on form Aido - good luck for the future tests/ops
  4. The Who were brilliant - seen them a couple of times (Hyde Park & Earls Court) and they've always been good. Really enjoyed Razorlight and Pink Floyd too!
  5. My dad used to work for BA and as soon as I hit 21, didn't qualify for any discount for me. Went from travelling everywhere by Business Class, to travelling in bucket seat bargains!!!
  6. http://www.djcraig.co.uk/GetDealer.do?did=20701&pageid=1 800bhp Aristo Vertex up for sale for a shade under £15k.....would like to see that in action!!!
  7. Thanks for getting in contact, I really appreciate it. The garage looking at my car have said the caliper is fine, the problem is that it's the pad carriers have seized. More worringly, the wheel was only being held on by 3 bolts - one had snapped off and the other was on it's way. What on earth cause that to go? Have not long had new tyres, so could it be down to using an air gun? Anyway, look out for the post offering a caliper for sale soon!!!
  8. My brother works in insurance and has told me the car in front will typically claim off of your insurance, and you claim off the car that hit you. You should be able to claim everything back from the one that hit you I would imagine.
  9. Love a good red wine anytime! If it's a hot Summer day, can't beat a lager either Corona with the obligatory lime or Stella. Or else a nice glass of Talisker whisky.
  10. What oil is best to use in my GS300 Sport? Am going to get my mechanic to do an oil change when he's doing the caliper and brakes...
  11. Don't worry about using Scratch-X - I've used it on my metallic blue GS. Thought it was good and it certainly didn't harm my paintwork in the slightest. Used it on my hubby's white car yesterday (yes, in the heatwave) and was absolutely amazed at the cr*p it took off - including black spots on the bumpers which wouldn't wash off. My car's paintwork is good, so I didn't notice vast improvements. Simon's car is washed twice a year if lucky (and if I'm feeling charitable and do it for him), was stained with bird poo and berries, and using the Scratch-X has brought it up to showroom shine - would definitely recommend you give it a go.
  12. Thanks everyone for your help and advice. GALLA_4, thanks for all your help too, and sorry that I can't take the calipers off your hands - Lexus confirmed they won't fit the GS. I know some of you have said get it done through Lexus for peace of mind, but I've been able to have peace of mind slightly cheaper!!! Have got a caliper, discs and pads ordered from Pro-Lex at a shade under £230 the lot. Just spoken to the trusty mechanic I use and he's going to do the work for me (incl. an oil change to boot) for @£70 + VAT. . . . and breathe. Phew!
  13. I pay about £600/700 on a 10 month accelerator policy - I'm 30 and have 2 years NCB and have my husband on the policy too. Was looking forward to hitting 30 and getting cheaper insurance but it's not dropped significantly yet!!!
  14. Some valeters will fully machine compound your paintwork - may help?
  15. When are we going to have 'Beefcake of the Day'? In the interests of equality of course...
  16. You've made my day!!! I need to get this sorted out before we go on hols. I've emailed you back. Thank YOU!!!
  17. Thanks for all the tips guys, I'll follow them up. Steve, tried Swift with no luck unfortunately.
  18. Soaked it in WD40 today, but no, not overnight. The reason we think I need a new one, is that dad and Si stripped it a few months ago when they changed the pads (it had started to stick then).
  19. My dad and husband have been trying to fix my car's caliper today but it's well and truly siezed and isn't budging. I need to bit the bullet and get a new one - tried looking on the internet for refurbed ones, but it's not clear if they are just second hand (so no idea of mileage they've done etc) or refurbished... Does anyone know a rough price I can expect to pay from Lexus? I need to get this sorted asap! :duh:
  20. My friend bought one (I think in the US) and he is definitely the Alpha male now - it must be good because everytime I mention it, my husband sulks because he doesn't have one!!!
  21. My 'bush' is totally standard and unmodified, but thanks for asking!!! Oh, the car is standard too thanks....have resisted the temptation to spread superglue on the bodywork and ram raid Halfords!!
  22. Ah peace and serenity restored! Kash, I've got my GS300 Sport now - sapphire blue and standard. I've a list of mods I'd like to do (nothing OTT, just new wheels etc), but no spare cash <sigh>
  23. Happy Birthday! Hope you get spoilt rotten!
