  1. Nice one lexus79 Unfortunately I am too early into my hire purchase (just under 12 months) to do anything. I went into a dealer to see if i could part x to an is200, was told id need to wait at least another 12 months, as I need to bring the settlement figure down :s So Ive given up, lol, i dont have any choice. I've learned my lesson tho, and in future I wont enter into any hps. Thanks all for your advice.
  2. Erm its a hire purchase, so I dont have the option to sell it. Thanks Yeldarb; I was thinking that there was the possibility of "losing out" I do have the car I want, with the options I want, & unless I was paying a lot less than I am right now, it wouldnt be worth it. I may just go into a dealer anyway just out of interest. Perhaps the best thing is to cut costs elsewhere. Thanks all for your comments.
  3. Hi all With uncertainty over how much longer my work contract will last, and other...issues, I'm looking at ways of cutting down costs pretty much anywhere I can... As such I am "considering" part xchanging my is250 se-l mm down to a is200. I upgraded my is200 to a is250 on a *sigh* hire purchase agreement..wishing I never went that option at the time, but o well. Anyway, with the news that to return my lexus, id have to pay Lexus over 7k for the privelege of being able to give them back the keys (kinda funny lol),my only other option is to downgrade to a is200 or sumthin and at least pay a lot less per month than what im doing at the moment. Having said that I can wait until Ive paid over 50% of the hire agreement, but that wont be coming for over a yr. Now I orginally part x'ed my is200 (with 18" alloys and body kit) for 5k bout a yr ago , so any is200 i woudl get now, in my mind would be a downgrade of my original is200, and so I REALLY want to pay as little as possible for it. Checking the approved used section, looking like i will be looking at cars in the 7.5k range... Just wondered if anyone has been in a similar situation where theyve had to do this, and if so, is it worthwhile? At the end of the day, I was going to go down to some dealers and see if it was a feasible option or not. i.e if they offered me figures which were "crap" Id just stay with the is250. Regardless the decision to even THINK about doing this was not an easy one. Curious as well, in that as my original lex was 5k, and if I get another is200 for 7.5k, would this mean a 2.5k loan? (hell if it was 2.5 k id pay that straight off...) Somehow tho I get the feeling that my original 5k lexus may not even factor into things... Can anyone advise here? Cheeers
  4. That is a very good deal for the year. I think I will go with the self washes with the weather being good. Would rather wash it myself then it get scratched after peoples comments. Thanks for the replies all.
  5. Hi all I've recently purchased a IS250 and am loving it (will post pics eventually) However the car could do with a wash, but I havent HAND washed a car since...errr...too long ago i cant remember. Ive been reading that most ppl here hand wash their own cars rather than use an auto wash. As I dont wanna mess up the paintwork Ill stop using auto washers, but Im thinking there has to be a place in herts close to stevenage if possible that does a decent hand wash. I could hand wash the car myself (& perhaps I will at some point), but 1) I am incredibly lazy (would rather spend my time studying or doing something *productive*. 2) I aint hand washed a car in so long I might damage my own paintwork! Can anyone recommend any decent hand wash places around my area? ( I have a neighbor who hand washes his car for more than 2 hours every other day - I just think of how much time is being wasted!!! )
  6. Guess I'll throw my 2$ in as I recently part exchanged my IS200 Sport with 18" alloys for an IS250 Auto SE-L MM. I can understand what ppl say about the wow factor. Before buying the IS200, whenever I saw it on the roads I admired it greatly and knew I just had to have one. When the new IS250 came out it didnt grab my attention as much, apart from the Brechin Slate colour. For some reason, that colour always turned my head. Yes Im driving a Brechin Slate now, and I love its looks. The interior is a revelation compared to my ex IS200, its much more upmarket and a real pleasure to be in. Admittedly it may not look as individual as the IS200, but to me its looks better than the equivalent BM/Audi/Mercs of this world. As for the engine, the 250 is also a major improvement (naturally). Theres no longer the feeling that the car could do with more bhp (at least to me) I think a lot of IS200 drivers would agree. Plus with the slightly better mpg over the IS200 (im averaging 32-34 mpg compared to the official 27 or so mpg of the IS200), I think the IS250 is just miles ahead. I loved my IS200 for the time I had it (apart from error prone cd changer) but I tell u, I sure have a bigger grin on my face with the IS250 :D
  7. Thanks everyone. Still waiting on it being ready, less than a week to go (apparently) Lookin forward to finally not having to bother about err3, err1 etc (is200 drivers will know what I mean) The way the fuel prices are going these days tho, I think Ill be driving like miss daisy!
  8. Hi Guys I have a Lexus IS200 Sport. Finally made the jump and put the deposit on a 05 auto SE-L with mm, in brechin slate, grey sussex interior and spoiler (to be fitted). Want to thank everyone whos been posting on these forums, as I would have never gone for an auto normally. Should be picking up the car sometime towards end of week once its ready :)
  9. 6! eek Took out and reinserted Radio No 1 and No2 fuses, but no joy... At least I can get a cd playing in position 1 now..wasnt working at all b4. Hope those chaps make an appearance :) Cheers
  10. Hi all I've been scouring the the forums concerning this issue. I can see many references to ERR3 etc, however in my case the CD that is stuck (an original CD by the way) is not even detected by the multichanger as being inside. This issue all came about as I had put the CD in with the right edge touching the right side of the multichanger...wasn't lookin when I put it in. Ive tried putting in 6 cds and and then taking them out to no joy. I'm going to try the fuse in/out thing soon and banging the console. I was just wondering if the issues ppl had experienced with the CD being stuck was where the CD wasnt even being recognised by the Multichanger via the number 1 - 6... (I have a 2001 IS, with changer being out of warranty :S)
  11. Gearstick does look in the right positon yeah. Tested the car again...2nd to 6th look to be fine. Still a problem seeking 1st, although with practice can find it. But according to the forums, a no of ppl have issues with this I think. Will see how it goes... Cheers.
  12. Hi all Well..it was the clutch... Apparently my local mechanic advised it wasnt broken due to wear and tear but due to clutch not being fully de-pressed. My wife was driving the car at the time, and she sometimes doesnt fully depress, so thats that. Anyway...I've had the clutch replaced by my local mechanic. Picked the car up (out of hrs, mechanic left outside garage), and tried to put the car into 1st gear... I COULDNT locate 1st gear easily at all...it was like I had to get used to the gearbox all over again...but this time, 1st doesnt feel like 1st..the gears dont seem to be properly defined...and with an IS200, the gears are normally very defined. I had no problems with 3rd, 5th, and 6th...but 1st and 2nd do seem *very* undefined... Im getting an earful from the missus about this, and why I didnt just get it done by Mr Clutch... *sigh* Certainly wishing I had got it done by Mr Clutch now... I'm wondering what I can do about this. Could it just be a case that the gearbox needs to be realigned properly? I'm going to speak to the mechanic, but as I know next to nothing about clutches, I dont know if its simply a case of the gearbox needing to "find itself" or settle in, or whether I should be giving the mechanic an earful about a job not done properly. Please advise (if only to lessen the earful I'm getting from my other half!!)
  13. Thanks for replies! No feedback yet, local garage been busy, but he'll check it out Thursday. Hes a good chap so will advise me. I'll recheck on the slippage as well, and perhaps the ECU reset. Good to know about in any case! Cheers
