  1. Hi all. Am looking for a used tow bar for an is200. Only for fitting a bike rack so electrics not being touched. Bike rack will be a few quid so am trying to save a bit. Hoping someone may have one lying around for sale. Am in the north west and will be willing to travel reasonable distances. Cheers Kev
  2. Hi all . Been to Nigel langs in Bolton today, via wim, for geometry and allignment doing on my is200. Next job when I get more pennies is to put eibach sports spring on to lower by abt 30mm. Trawled thru loads of threads and am under impression springs can be changed and still use normal dampers. Mot said slight misting on rear so thought will change these at same time as springs. The garage said of I wad updating the springs I should really change and update shocks as well. Am I alright with standard shocks, if not, any suggestions on best ones that don't cost the earth. Cheers Kev
  3. Cheers mate. Thars a relief. Only just noticed your post, followed the guides yesterday and took out the dash, piece of p£@s. Took abt 20 mins all in. Anyhow, changed the bulb with the front fog symbol bulb to test. The bulb wasnt the problem so it appears to be something more sinister as the working bulb isnt lighting up the symbol, flipped it around incase of polarity, still no light???? Started re-checking all the fuses again to see if i missed something first time. Noticed that the headlight washers arent working either. Just looked through a few threads and am going to be ambitious and hope it is a low reservoir, but with my luck am expecting something costly. Window wipers still work so am getting confused. Wished i listened more in school now as crap at understanding electrics. BTW not hearing any clicking noise when pressing washer button like most mention. Could this be the motor??? Anyone had anything similar. Cheers Kev
  4. Posted 05 November 2010 - 04:19 PM Hi all. Had an issue the other week with the battery and as a result of Honda placing colours incorrectly on the battery of my wifes new car ( in no way am i at fault for not double checking !! ) I ended up blowing a load of fuses. Have changed loads and nearly everything appears to be working. However, the symbol for the lights and full beam dont light up on the dash. My mate used to be a mechanic and said that it could fail the mot as the tester should check this?? mot is due in couple of weeks so thought i wud change beforehand to avoid the risk. Have been looking on loads of threads and decided to change the bulbs myself. Although loads mention the sppedo ring, am struggling to find what the correct bulb is for the two light symbols. Help very much appreciated. Am thinking that whilst the dash is off, maybe changing the the drab orange speedo lights as well. There seems to be a few who mention unequal light displays and dimmer lights after doing this so was wondering what the best lights are to get. Also, are the fleabay lights reliable or am i better going to a shop?? Hoping to attempt this over weekend if the bulbs are readily available. BTW it is an is200se x-reg Cheers Kev Hi all. Posted the above in general maintenance section with no response a few days ago. Moved it here hoping someone can help. Am going to take dash off in next couple of days anyway, but am hoping to have the new bulbs beforehand, to save the some time. If anyone can help , would be much appreciated kev 0

  6. Cheers. Thought that may be the case. When i looked today it was the blowing right next to where the rear section appears to be connected. will have to have a closer look tomorrow to see if it is the exhaust pipe or the gasket as you say. very true abt the stainless steel, but it is well and truly corroded. must admit tho, had the car for 7yrs and this is the first exhaust problem. It may weel be the original exhaust on it. been looking around for rear exhaust sections, with prices varying from £66 on ebay item no 380254995618 to £100+. not being mechanically minded, getting a bit confused because of ebay. even the though the back box section appears fine. does this need to be replaced. as everything is sold as a complete rear section. ebay confusing me because they sell back boxes alone w/out the pipe, so then thought you can just by the pipe section alone and replace that part, but cannot find this anywhere?? hope that makes sense kev
  7. Hi all. car is an is200se 2000 x-reg and is a standard lexus. Car is due for an mot next week. Not been driven for most of the summer as i mainly use a scooter. Have noticed that the exhaust is blowing slightly. When i looked underneath it appears to be on the rear section of pipe before the back box. right next to where the pipe appears to connect to the mid section. ( sorry if this is very vague ) Will this cause it to fail its mot, and also being of non-mechanical mind. can i just buy the rear pipe section separately and change this part or does it come as a complete rear section. Cheers Kev
  8. Hi again. RAC man been out to fix car. 5 fuses had blown. 4 got replaced, but i need to go and get a 120 amp alternator fuse tomorrow. Said i blew them by putting jump leads on wrong way round! am convinced i didnt. anyhow, tried to get the 120 amp fuse out and having great difficulty. 2 screws are keeping it in and the fuse compartment just wont come out?? not sure if wires have no give in them or the 4 clips, locks ( not sure of name ) wont release. tried unscrewing the outer housing but not much movement in that either. is there an easy way to do this, and am i missng something obvious. RAC man couldnt do it iether and gave up after 20 mins. Any help appreciated kev
  9. hi all. got an is200 which hasnt been used for a month. came back of jollies yesterday and went to use car. dead. completely. nothing happening at all. got jump leads, still nothing. only response i got was the indicators staying on permanently. bit confused as put a new bosch battery less than 8 mths ago. any ideas??? on a vespa through summer so car regularly left for long periods. this is a first though, always started before. thought i'd try on here as been waiting for rac to answer phone for over an hr!!!! cheers kev
  10. Cheers for all the advice. Managed to get a Bosch Silver for £70 all in from a car parts place locally. About to replace now so hopefully all sorted. Cheers Kev
  11. Sorry for delay replying fellas, unfortunately had to spend the last ten days on a beach in tenerife B) Anyhow, as expected battery dead on trying car, but starts straight away when jump leads are on. Missus took today and went flat in Manchester. RAC called says it is the original battery ( car is 2001 x reg ) and that the battery is knackered. So now looking to buy a new battery. Is it worth a good look round to get a good but cheap battery or should I just go to lexus dealers or halfords Cheers for all erplying to other question Kev
  12. Hi all. Had a quick lookthrough threads but most are talking about extra speakers etc., mine is the standard is200se. nothing upgraded due to 2 young nippers costing me a fortune. anyhow, over the last week or so am having random problems with the car. when starting it is struggling to get going, the battery indicator says it only has 8-9 volts, which quickly rises upto 12-13 when it turns over. However, it regularly needs jumping to start, especially if left over 12 hrs. it did happen last week outside a shop after being driven for 40 mins and left for only 30 mins outside. When started all is fine, nothing is left on ie lights etc am just wondering whether this means a new battery or it is the alternator which is knackered. As you can tell, no ideas about cars but any help/advice is much appreciated. cheers kev
  13. Cheers mate. Had to take door panel off in end. conection had come loose somehow??? All working again!! Thanks again Kev
