  1. I had this problem on my previous car (Rover 623 GSI) it was the heating fan motor, which was on its way out, second hand one sorted it. Surely it shouldnt be 'on its way' if your car is a 2000 model though. Previous idea of the leaf probably a more likely culprit. Cheers Jon
  2. hi, I dont think I was very clear yesterday, my car is a 1994 UK model, and I was considering importing a air con compressor via ebay from the states, as it was alot cheaper than sourcing one from the UK. Any advice on whether its an option? Jon
  3. Hi all, I was looking to replace my Air Con Compressor, and source one from the states, are they all the same? I've been quoted £500 for a reconditioned one, I think thats about right. However, I found one online the other day for about £150. Its now gone, but Im sure there will be others, are they a standard part? Please advise Jon
  4. Hi all, Was cleaning the car today and "found" the ECT switch. Its selections are either Norm or Power... What does this do?? Please tell... Jon
  5. Hi All, Just to advise that it was a bulb. Bit of a mission to release the rear lamps, as they are bolted! But its all done now :D Still waiting for Lexus though to get my Aerial mast! So thanks to you all, and see my new post, I've "found a button" Jon
  6. Red, just like the hand brake light. wouldnt have thought it was the lamp failure red is usually important not sure what that symbol means on the IS it is handbrake/low fluid warning, but you say it is next to the handbrake one i would check brake fluid, and pads , a quick visual will tell all is ok ....or not consider dropping in a lexus/toyota dealer to get it confirmed Good call Bazza, will check the brake fluid in the morning. dont want to end up
  7. Hi all! Hope everyone is great, I'm currently waiting on Lexus for my new aerial mast...Fortunately I didnt cut the plastic bit inside, so its looking great just stuffed from the rear wing into the boot until they can fit it. £30 for the mast, and about £30 for fitting. Anyhow - I dont have the owners manual and a light has just come on the dash board, next to the handbrake light (to the left of it). It kinda looks like ( (!) ). Does anyone know what this means? Is this some kind of brake pad sensor or something? Please advise, I've a long journey tomorrow! Oh yeah - also if it is the pads where should I go? Lexus or one of those Nationwide Auto Centre places? I'm based in Brighton so if anyone knows a good local garage I'd appreciate the recommendation (only been there 3 months!) Thanks all! Jon
  8. Thanks to all so far! Yes my "needle" was just over the 30 I think, I might have been doing 31, but thats about it, I've never had any problems before Thanks to eXOBeX as well, that site has got all the information I need should it go further. I had heard that they swap the films around in cameras, so not all of them are full, I've just got my fingered crossed, I'd hate to get 3 points for 31/32mph, it just wouldnt seem justified! Still loving the GS300 (series 1 I guess), smoothest car I've owned, although the fuel bills I think will double, but a small price to pay :P Thanks for all your advice to date! Jon
  9. Hi all! Thanks to all for providing such a detailed forum! I finally managed to buy my dads GS300 from him (Im thirty - still sound excited as a kid though! :D ) Anyhow, its a 1994 UK car, 122k ,full history, two tone, new continental tyres all round etc etc! I thought it was a bargain for £1500? Only thing is the needles flicker a little (although following advice on here I've turned the illumination down and they dont flicker now!) and a bulb in the cluster needs doing. But now, help is needed....... I live in Brighton and work in Worthing, and on my way home tonight I got flashed by a speed camera. You know how these things happen, first flash - look in mirror, see second flash, look at speedo, and I wasnt speeding! It was a thirty zone (just by a nationwide auto centre - Does anyone know if these cameras have problems??), I knew the cameras were there and have seen this one go off about 6 or 7 times in the last 3 months, so my speed was pretty much bang on 30. I dont think it can be the speedo calibration as I've been past other cameras at the same speed without hindrance. So no Im quite :tsktsk: . So, firstly, does anyone know if these cameras do/dont have film in? Im going to contest if I do get a letter/fine/points, so what questions should I ask, put forward in my arguement? Advise please, I'm not going to give in easily! Thanks all! Jon
  10. Hi all, I phoned Lexus in Poole, and they informed me that it is no longer a part they stock (Argghh!), does anyone know of an aftermarket supplier in the UK for the '94 GS300? :duh: Jon
  11. Hi all! The stereo is now sorted, thanks to the help received from you guys! :D I would like to buy a rear spoiler with a rear brake light inbuilt for my 1994 GS300. Does anyone know where to source one?? I have looked on the web, but all I can find is those boy racer ones, I just what something that follows the 'lines' of the car, it has to blend in, if you know what I mean. I tried the store here but its not up yet (hopefully soon though :) ) so if anyone can recommend a supplier/website that would be great. Many thanks all! Jon (now with stereo working!!)
  12. Hi all! I've just brought a Lexus GS300 (1994) and it has the Lexus P3705 audio installed with CD changer etc. The chap who I brought it from had it stood around for a little while and thus when I have now charged the battery etc the audio displays the letters 'SEC'. I phoned Lexus and they advised me that it doesnt have a security code, but it will require resetting (at £37+VAT). Can anyone advise me on how to do this myself?? I cant see how resetting the audio should cost that much, or infact that it is practical. I want to replace the battery next week, and therefore it will need resetting again!! (ARRGGH!) Unfortunately I dont yet have the lexus audio guide with the car to look it up. Help, its too quiet in my car!! Jon
