  1. Take a look at this site http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/. It should have the information you're looking for.
  2. Lexus in fact do have a Sat Nav DVD which covers just the Uk, and the 2006/2007 version is just coming out. I assume Lexus UK do not read these forums, otherwise they could easily have mentioned that they could provide such DVD maps. Or do they not care?
  3. Just to let you know you can relax Steve, the Netgear Rangemax is here setup and working perfectly. After many hours use it has not dropped the connection once, Im very pleased. :D
  4. Looking on the "lexus-mapupdates.eu/" page under the Coverage section there is a new 2006/2007 DVD which covers just the UK. The DVD which comes with the car is the Overview disc which covers the whole of Europe. I tried to find out from my dealer if the UK DVD gives a lot more information for UK and Northern Ireland, but no info is available yet. For anyone like myself who never drives his Lexus abroad this seems to be a much better option. I am a bit peeved with Lexus for not giving customers the option of which navigation DVD they wanted when purchasing their car. There was a 2005/2006 UK version available for the launch of the IS250 so everyone could have chosen either. :duh:
  5. Thanks everyone for you're info, but I have gone for Steves choice (cause he's in charge) and ordered a Netgear Rangemax DG834N with a WN 121T wireless USB adapter. Just hope for Steve's sake I don't regret my choice.
  6. My present broadband connection keeps shutting down, it is the slowest Tiscali one of just 500kbps. So I am upgrading to Tiscali Max whch gives up to 8mbps. They have advised getting a wireless modem router and I am looking for some advice on which one to choose. The ones I have lloked at are from the Netgear Rangemax range and wondered how they compare with other makes. According to their adverts everyones is the greatest thing since sliced bread, so any advice on which are well made and reliable would be much appreciated. Thanks oldun
  7. The action you propose is illegal and would invalidate your insurance if involved in an accident. It just is not worth it. :duh:
  8. I had a letter today from Lexus Aberdeen about colour coded mudflaps for my IS250. They would fit the mudflaps and carry out a winter check on the car for £175, which I thought was a bit pricey. A quick check on the Lexus UK website did not mention anything about mudflaps being available, so assume they are a new addition. If anyone is interested check with you're local dealer if they have them and what price they are.
  9. I had one like that, only mine wasn't removable.
  10. I could not agree more, the maps cover a vast area in small detail. It will show you how to drive from Helsinki to the Vatican City via Madrid, but so much of the UK is missing. If someone would produce a Sat Nav with full details of the UK, including all post codes, telephone numbers and even isolated houses I would buy their car.
  11. I always thought Bentley had class. :D
  12. The flashes probably represent seconds, although i'm not sure how useful that information is.
  13. Thanks Steve, if it ever happens again I'll know to check with Tiscali first. cheers oldcro
  14. I had the same problem and I use Windows Explorer. Yesterday I tried switching off all firewall and anti-virus programmes but still could not open the site. Just a thought, but I access the internet using Tiscali Broadband and wondered if there is a link there. oldcro
  15. My IS250 SE-L automatic is due soon for it's first service and was quoted £190 before any club discount of 10 to 15%. I was wondering how this price compares with what other members were paying. oldcro
  16. Penllergaer, and see where I was born. oldcro. :duh:
  17. Definitely the worlds best F1 driver of all time, but not the best worlds champion. Which is annoying as if he had not done those stupid unsporting actions in the past he woould be the best champion ever. Still, best of luck Michael. oldcro :D
  18. Were the petrol tanks all filled to the same level before starting your journeys? I find that if I fill my IS250 until the pump shuts off I get artificially high mileage on the tank mileage for the first 50 miles or so. Only when the level is low enough for the needle to move off the high mark does the tank mileage indication read a more accurate MPG. oldcro
  19. I'm not sure of your rights to demand things like having a free loan car, but I think your rights are nil by law. A better word is ASK not DEMAND as it gives you the chance of a more favourable response from the dealer. Alternatively, just cancel your order and re-order with another dealer. On a brighter note, when the car does eventually arrive you will be glad you ordered the Adaptive Cruise option. I have it in my IS250 SE-L and it is great. As long as you don't go under about 28mph or touch the brakes you can drive all day without touching a pedal (providing your set speed is appropriate for the you're on). :D oldun.
  20. I had an IS200 automatic when they first came out. On the first day I drove into a supermarket car park, turned the key to off a bit fast while pulling it out and the key came out. When I got back in the car it would not start, until after about 20 minutes cursing and swearing I realised the car was in drive. So yes it is possible to remove the key (at least in an IS200) while the car is in drive. :duh:
  21. Which is why I thought all Police stations should be listed in the MM's POI's, together with their telephone numbers. Imagine you are driving through a strange town and see some yobs acting suspiciously round a car. A visit or phone call to the local police explaining what you have seen could mean a patrol car is sent to check. Could save someones pride and joy Lexus from damage or theft. Rembering that your suspicions did not warrant a 999 call.
  22. An Irishman, an Englishman and a Scot were sitting in a bar. The view was fantastic, the beer excellent, and the food exceptional. "Y'know," said the Scotsman, "I still prefer the pubs back home. Why, in Glasgow there's a wee bar called MacTavish's. Now, the landlord there goes out of his way for the locals so much that when you buy 4 drinks, he will buy the 5th drink for you." "Well," said the Englishman, "at my local, The Red Lion, the barman there will buy you your 3rd drink after you buy the first two." "Ahhh, that's nuttin," said the Irishman. "Back home in Dublin there's O'Driscoll's Bar. Now, the moment you set foot in the place they'll buy you a drink, then another, all the drinks you like. Then, when you've had enough drinks, they'll take you upstairs and see that you get laid. All on the house." "Really?" said the Englishman, "did this actually happen to you?" "Not me meself, personally, no," said the Irishman, "but it did happen to me sister.
  23. You sound like a very selfish person when it comes to smoking, it would be much easier if everything you didn't need to do at the wheel of a vehicle was banned, drinking, smoking, eating etc but it wouldn't be possible to be policed and would they all have the same penalty! At the end of the day all you can do is follow the law, you can't change it only voice your opinion on it, if you break it face the consequences. But why people want to smoke i'll never know, it makes you stink, makes you ill, harms others around you, especially people who smoke around children, they don't have a choice, nothing worse than seeing a family car with the driver smoking, not only that they cost £5 a pack and even then you get a box which warns you smoking kills before you open it! At least this time next year the ban on smoking will be here! We will this time next year! a coincidence that as i sit here reading and replying to this subject while watching London Tonight that one report is on the risks of eating behind the wheel!! Who said I smoked? or is that someting you assumed? I have friends who smoke and I would never dream of complaining about it. After all, it is my choice if I mix with them in a smoky room.
