  1. Very intersting and informative site. Thanks
  2. Thanks for that. But when do i request the photos?... Now while i have the NiP or wait til i tell them who was the driver and then request the photos? To cap it all i got a Bus lane infringement today from TfL. It has not very clear photos attached but it says they have video footage. Can i request thier video and if so do i waive my right to a 50% discount on the £100 fine? Not a very good week for me so far as you can probabyl tell. I hope i dont get any more nasty suprises.... really nervous everytime i see the posty now. :duh:
  3. I got my NiP today - damn! - A40 WB just before A312 turn off - Gatso! Quick question(s), once i declare who was the driver what will they ask for? It wasnt me driving! If i ask for the evidence, ie the two Gatso Photos, does that automatically mean i must go to court and give up my FPN option? Do they require MOT, insurance, tax papers, ie a producer, to be sent to them now or ever during the proceedings? Do the procedures vary according to different constabularies? My NiP is from the Met if it makes a difference

  5. Below is a snap of the cable that runs in behind the dash and disappers so even if i manage to get a new cable, one end will plug into the sat nav screen unit but where is the other end suppsoed to go? The second picture is of the back of the sat nav screen unit where the cable is plugged into it.... but where is the other end supposed to go as it disappers behind the dash. The third is just the one end of the cable i have unclipped from the back of the sat nav screen unit. Someone please advise.
  6. I think in my situation the previous owner was a plonker and did genuinly loose the master key. Before i bought it i had a full hpi check done (£40.00 - oouch!). Also since then (being a Special Constable) had a check done on it through "official means". Again negative so im happy my car is bona fide. A good & very valid point though.
  7. A quick update people...... The new key I had cut today now remotely locks & unlocks the doors (but not the boot - but then i only have a valet key so how could it programme a new key to do the boot?). The key does not start the car yet, it turns over but does not start. The existing valet car still starts it. So im assuming i have not done the immobilsor programming bit right. Im now not sure if i can programme the new key to the immobilisor because i have no master key. I'll keep you posted when i give it a proper crack tomorrow.
  8. Hello. DO NOT PAY the dealer anything. I did the following: Bought a used Lexus remote key from ebay for £15 all in Bought a new un cut lexus key fob from ebay for £10.75 all in I took the remote control unit from the used key and put it in the blank key fob. I then took this to the local locksmiths who cut the new key for me from my existing valet key. Thats cost £5. All the doors and boot and glove box work from this newly cut key. I am now going to programme the new key to my IS200 using the simple instructions available on here and and on myIS. "Basically, every lexus key has two functions: start the engine(immobilizer) and remote control (lock unlock doors, activate/deactivate alarm) To program the immobilizer bit of your new key: First, have your new key cut. Then: For 1998+ Toyota, Lexus Add Duplicate Key 1. Simultaneously depress and release brake and accelerator pedals 1 time. 2. Insert existing master key into ignition. 3. Within 15 seconds depress and release accelerator pedal 5 times. 4. Within 20 seconds depress and release the brake pedal 6 times and remove key. 5. Within 10 seconds insert new key into ignition. 6. Within 10 seconds depress and release the accelerator pedal 1 time. 7. After 80 seconds new key is registered and security light goes off. 8. Remove new key and depress and release brake pedal 1 time. To make your Lexus remember your key's wireless signal: For the remote part in drivers seat WITH DOOR OPEN. Start with door unlocked. 1. Put master key in ignition, turn to on, then back off and remove. 2. Using the lock/unlock button on drivers door. press lock.. then unlock 5 times.(lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock,un lock, lock, unlock) 3. Close drivers door, open drivers door. 4. Perform lock/unlock procedure again. DO NOT close and open drivers door. Just the lock/unlock procedure again. 5. Insert NEW key in to ignition and turn to on, then back off and remove.(at this point the doors should lock and unlock by themselves ONCE) 6. Now press both lock and unlock buttons on REMOTE. Release after about 1.5 seconds. 7. Now press just the lock button on remote. once you press the lock button, the car should lock and unlock ONCE, if it lock unlocked TWICE you messed up somewhere. 8. Now open and close the drivers door a couple times to close programming. if you did it right, remote will now work." Hope this helps save £1500!
  9. :D thats how I want mine done, not too dark, looks cool quick question what percentage are these in your picutre? Ive gonna get mine done just like i think.
  10. On eBay i bought a used Lexus IS200 Remote key that has 3 buttons (lock, unlock, boot opening). The blade is cut already..... how can i change the blade to a copy of my key (i only have a valet key, no master key) and then eventually have this remote programmed to my car. There must be a way. Will a standard locksmith be able to cut the key and then once this is done i could just have the remote programmed to my car using the guide i used to reprogramme my existing (valey) key when it mysteriasly forgot my car a week back. Any help appreciated.
  11. All sorted. I opened up the bonnet to check the fuses and realised that there was 1 wire coming of the positive and 1 off the negative terminals on the battery going into to dash. Quickly relaised this was the DC wire that went into the Nokia head unit (i had NOT cut this cable). So i disconnected these wires form the battery and the car started up like new. Problem solved. Thanks for your help everyone.
  12. A Bosch AsiaSilver 6DA battery is 60aph and is labbeled as being suitable for a "Toyota Lexus IS200". It only costs £35 including VAT from Costco.
  13. im 100% sure now that the cut wire is part of the nokia kit and not the car. I have taken the whole car kit out now and the wire i cut was the cable that plugged into the Nokia head unit (HFU-2) and the other end was connected to the nokia phone cradle. The head unit had this wire plugged into it plus one speaker cable, one mic cable and importantly one "DC" cable plugged into it. Nothing else. All other cables are in tact and can be replugged into the Nokia head unit if need be but not the cut cable (its called "phone" according to the head unit). I think and hope it is a fuse but by the time i got home from work it was dark so i will check first thing in the morning.[/i]
  14. Phone kit. 99.9% sure got nothing to do with the car. Where is the fuse box? Im at work and i cant work as im that worreid i have destroyed my car.
  15. I have but the one i have cut i cant reconnect. Checking the fuses now. Also what is a ECu and how do i reset it? ← You can reset the ECU by taking the wires off the battery. why can you not conect the wire you cut ? ← The wire in question has about twelve multicoloured tiny wires inside. I cant reconnect it as i cut this wire with scissors.

  17. Today i have done something very very stupid. I had a Nokia handfree kit in my car for a old Nokia 6310i. It was top dog with built in charger and antenna wired to the dash etc. But i no longer have a Nokia 6310i so i decided to remove it. I removed the speaker unit and then traced several wires back to the Nokia system box hidden behind the glove box. I unplugged them all and then one wire connected to the Nokia box for some stupid reason I cant think of now i cut with a pair of scissors. There was a tiny tiny spark in the wire as i cut it but as it was just attached to the Nokia system i thought it would be ok. Now i can not turn on the car. Nothing happens. It doesnt even tick over. I think it may have masshed to immobiler. The remote keys still work to lock and unlock the car but nothin gat all happend when i turn the key. The dash lights up for 1 second and then nothing. What shall i do? As i had to get a mate to give me a lift to work today. Ta :duh: :yack: :tsktsk:
  18. Id just like to express my appreciation, and im sure all the folk on here would too, for all your efforts in organising the GB Mr Singh! Thanks again. PS. Was you on the North Circular Road/A1 today at around 4pm as I saw an amazing black Lexus with "Sing x" rego.
  19. ......But i have a problem already i cant seem to put it all together. So far i have taken the centre console off and installed the tower and re installed the centre console no problems but now i cant seem to get the tower cover and the arm rest on to the tower all at the same time. In the end i gave up and now have a arm rest minus the tower cover... you can imagine how silly it looks despite it working fully. Can someone post any clues how to put the tower cover and the arm rest rest all togeher with two large bolts to the tower please. Pictures would be best. Cheers guys.
  20. Mine should be here any minute now (i keep running down every time I hear a van like noise go by). I did a really early shift especially so i could fit my arm rest during daylight today. Im very excited.... sad i know after all it is just a piece of metal and some cows backs sides!
  21. Sweet Mother of Ding Dong we have arm rests! Just a shame i have sell my car now due to lack of dollars but hey atleast i will drive around with a mean lean for a few days atleast..... if i can fit the dam thing that is. Cheers
  22. Im having a similar problem. Ive decided i want a Bosch Silver as someone suggested them on another post. Only problem is I cant find the specific Bosch Silver i need for my 1999 IS200. Even the Bosch www wasnt of any use. Does anyone know the specif Bosch model or item code so i can order it online.... im gonna try putting it in myself! Thanks
  23. I was just about to post the same problem on my IS200. The car starts but it just takes twice as long on the key turn. I will change my battery tomorrow having heard the advice here. How much is a standard battery likely to cost and a Bosch Silver one? Also its a very easy DIY job right? Or is it a pay a garage to do it kind of a job?
  24. Result! We should have them this week right? Cant wait indeedy! :D
