  1. I've had mine since November (it was a demo). Very comfortable, very fast, fuel consumption is in the low 30s doing 250 mile motorway / a road runs twice a week and town driving in between. Road Tax is either £180 or £190 per year, 20k service was 280 (70 less than originally quoted!). It does go through tyres though, the factory fit Yokohamas only lasted 17k on the rear but they are very soft and the tread rating is rotten anyway - 160 iirc, I've replaced them with Goodyear F1s with a considerably higher tread rating. I also have had the rattle / squeking problem on the passenger side dash, in fact it's in a second dealer today to be fixed (hopefully). The rest of the car is so quiet that it's really annoying. All other comments made here by owners I agree with. Overall, it's a very good car and I'm definitely seeing more of them on the roads.
  2. I've had a 450h SE-L since November. Most recent validated mileage I get on a 270 mile weekly commute (mainly motorway + 50 miles A road) was 34mpg I'm definitely averaging over 30 every tank - normally that run plus another 100 miles round town.
  3. First issue I got around - you can send individual contacts from the phone, still haven't figured out if you can get it to sync automatically although I doubt it.... Changing the voice prompt is from a menu on the central display, I think from the menu button then system or setup - either way there is an option with about 3 pages of setup for the satnav etc and hidden in there is an option to disable voice prompts (worded somewhat differently but that's what it does).
  4. Hi, I don't have my car's manual with me so thought I would ask here... I loaded all of my numbers from my SE K750i phone when I got my car and setup quick dials. Now I have added more numbers to my phone and want to synch the new numbers in addition to those stored in the car. Can I set it up to automatically sync new numbers in the phone and if not, can I send numbers individually? I don't want to delete everything and start again if possible. Also I believe there is a process to disable the voice prompts when you hit the Voice button on the steering wheel - after changing the settings it will just beep and then accept your voice commands rather than talk at you first. Anyone know that process? Thanks in advance
  5. Mine replaced a 01 / Y Mercedes C320 that I had owned since new. The only reason I kept the Merc for so long was that I could not find anything that I really felt would be as special as it was when I got it.... I have now! Car is extremely comfortable, exceptionally quick when nailed - only done it once but it really does feel that it could be Porsche fast in the mid range. I've done 2 300 mile motorway runs - both averaged between 32 and 33 mpg. Around town it seems nigh on impossible to get the consumption beneath 30. These are displayed figures, I haven't worked it out manually yet. I've found that the engine kicks in pretty much immediately when cold then goes off, I don't notice it at all and am using the little display beneath the speedo to show me what is providing the power. I would agree with the poster who said that the 300 is not a bad car but the 450 blows it away. I drove them back to back and the 450 just felt "better" - steering feel is definitely different - their is a meatier feel to the 450. And there are lots of ex demos / Lexus GB cars available - when I was looking there were 39 on lexus.co.uk, go buy one, you'll love it!
  6. That makes you a braver man than me! It is brilliant on 3 lane motorways though, couldn't quite bring myself to trust it completely on the 2 lane stretches of the A1 though - too many white transits cutting in front of me...
  7. Well after much mucking around (see several IS / GS posts on here for the past 12 months or so...) I finally got my Lexus - an ex Demo GS450 SE-L in Black with grey interior. I am delighted with the car and even more so with the service received while selecting and purchasing it. Lots of praise to Alex at Edinburgh for giving me 2 hours of his time unannounced to drive an IS / GS300 / GS450 and particularly Paul at Cardiff for doing the deal and delivering the chosen car to me in Hull (complete with a 4am start for him). With 1 solitary exception, all Lexus dealers and staff I dealt with were courteous, well informed and professional. I can honestly say it has been the most pleasant car buying experience I have had. And the car is stunning - radar cruise is superb!
  8. As someone who has just bought a Lexus, I am considering this too, but wonder if I am missing something.... I can't find any list of discounts available to me if I join gold? I hope it will have discounts for Lexus dealer servicing that I can use where I am in the country but I can't confirm it. Am I just missing this info or is it intentionally mysterious? I would be more than happy to pay for gold membership if I knew exactly what benefits I would receive. Any info greatfully accepted...
  9. Thanks, I am going to drive a GS (no problems with supply, any model including GS450h apparently) and IS back to back either tomorrow or Thursday so if I settle on the IS, I'll contact Woodford.
  10. Well I spoke to the 2 central Scotland dealers and both are quoting 11 - 12 weeks. Apparently IS250s are rarer than IS220d, automatic is rarer than manual, SE-L is rarer than SE and Multimedia is rarer than non-multimedia.... And they don't want to exceed 20k cars annually by end 2007 so they are quite happy having supply limited (which I have to admit finding strange.... Woodford Lexus have about 6 autos ( one is Cadoxton) at the moment I assume you coudl get about 7-8% off alan Alan are the cars you refer to above at Woodford Lexus new or ex-demo?
  11. I've been keeping an eye on the ex demos on the lexus site as well, it is an option but the numbers on the cars are a bit high.... drivethedeal quote £28974.77 for a new IS250 SE-L Auto, metallic, MM, a discount of £3313.22 from list. Comparable ex demos on the lexus site are priced from £27950 for a dec 05 with 11k up to £31495 for a July 06. I know that these are negotiable prices but they still seem very high. Maybe the SE prices are a bit more reasonable but I'd have a look at drivethedeal for a guide to what you could pay for a new one.
  12. I am slowly getting closer to changing my car for a new Lexus. Not entirely sure which one yet, probably a new IS250 SE-L auto with Multimedia. Anyway has anyone used www.autoebid to purchase? I have best prices from drivethedeal and will use those in discussions with my local dealers in Scotland, but in the event of the negotiations not going my way, I thought I would look at autoebid. It looks like a good way of possibly purchasing the car I want at an even better price. And finally, have the availability issues from earlier this year when certain models were in very short supply (was it a MM issue) been resolved? What chance is there of being a cadoxton slate / black IS250 SE-L Auto MM in the country now? (I'm not patient when I have finally made a choice....) Any comments welcome.
  13. Ok.... I assume that this would be applicable to the dealer network and not to a specific garage, ie I could have it serviced at any Lexus dealer at no further cost to me? Anyone have an idea on charges for this product?
  14. I am looking at a number of different cars to replace my 5 years old MB C320. One of them was a BMW 335d and they offer a Service and Maintenance inclusive plan for 5 years or 60k miles (mileage limit would apply to me due to 20k pa mileage) for £1375 at time of purchase. Does anyone know if Lexus offer a similar product to buy and if so, how much it is and is it negotiable or fixed price? I am considering an IS250SE-L with multimedia (cheapest option), an ex demo GS450h SE and the aforementioned BMW 335d M-Sport saloon. Any assistance welcome.
  15. Can anyone confirm if the GS350 (of GS300 with 3.5 engine if they choose to brand it that way) is imminent in the UK? It's been out in the US for a few months now and I noticed that the 2007 colour changes (different Black and a grey colour) have appeared on www.lexus.co.uk however there appears to be no mention of a change in engine from 3.0 to 3.5. Also it looks like the packaging pricing / packaging is changing as if you look at drivethedeal, it now lists such models as GS300SE and GS 300SE with Multimedia, which suggests that they are falling into line with the IS pricing / packaging where you can purchase multimedia packs with each trim level. Anyway, the main question is if we are definitely getting the 3.5 and if so, when. Anyone?
